  1. They are already serving that currently. Their current expansion includes regional needs. Regionally, the farthest demographic we serve would be Galveston and Conroe. Beaumont has their own aport that uses IAH as a stop over. But that is the case with many continental flights just American use DFW. The only airport you'll see move forward will be a business commuter airport with the Sugarland Expansion or if for some reason a small one in extreme west Hou. If Sugarland gets on the ball first, you can forget about the airport in West Hou.
  2. ^^^ Atlanta besides a Coke Museum, a tour of CNN, Stone Moutain (its a carving people, that's it), and the cyclorama (kind of neat) has not much else except for some hills. Houston is pretty much on par with Atlanta. Truthfully, when comes down to the end, the IOC is looking for profits and how much the city will give them. Olympic organization makes the UN look like a saintly bunch (UN makes our congressmen look like a saintly bunch). I'm glad we didn't get the Olympics. The trouble is not worth it. We have international notoriety already. Maybe not for international tourists, but definitely for international business. Which is quite more important than the tourists. London is using the Olympics as a means to finish revitalizing there southeast region.
  3. When was talking about new restraunts, i really wan't going after to have the mom-n-pop places. I was think chain restraunts we don't have. They're a lot of them. Also, there are restraunts that have like two are three location in the US at only a major city. Having some of these kind of places would be nice.
  4. I like it because is offer a good venue for small outdoor events. I like the architecture too. It's a good feature.
  5. plastic, a new airport won't be there to serve residents who want to travel. It's going to be located for business reasons. West Houst's Office space is located next to the beltway and along I-10 just outside the beltway. The Beltway gives easy and fast access to IAH. Just look at the signs comming from weschase going north towards I-10. The next control is IAH and not US 290 or I-45. As long as it is easy to get to IAH from the westside of town with the Beltway, the City of Houston and Harris County won't need to consider another airport. An Airport near US 59 just outside the suburbs will be to serve primarily business commuter traffic from Fort Bend Offices. It may also pull business commuter traffic from Westchase. The business commuter traffic is much more profitable than the general traveling public since business travelyer often pay two to three times as much for their tickets because they book their flights last minute. And as noted by a previous poster, Sugarland expanding services to Airlines to get more business oriented flights coming in and going out. Sugarlands expansion in this area will only make their area more attractive to suburban office space. IAH and Hobby adequately serves the current business community quite well and especially when their remodels are complete.
  6. To me, having the same restraunt in downtown and in burbs means why go downtown? I've been to the aquarium restraunt once. The presentation of the food and everything is nice, but it's just Landrys and their chain of restraunts packaged differently. The amusement park addition and views from the restraunt are great for bringing in families to downtown, but there are many other restraunts in downtown and nearby that I'd would rather visit. I like outback and many of the chain restraunts, and I do expect some of them to appear in downtown, but having new restraunts available makes the place more memorable.
  7. As long as we continue to be a melting pot and not a multicultural tossed salad like some people want, we'll be fine. People should come to the USA to become americans and not stay their nationality. This doesn't mean giving up there ethicity or culture.
  8. I'm all for ball players to use steroids. Then they'll start dropping dead eventually and it will be a more powerful message then just say no to the kids.
  9. I think increased cost also went to the fact that the superdome has a solid concrete roof versus plexi glass and at one time a glass roof. Either way construction cost for large scale projects inevitably goes up since the skilled laber needed for the project cost more and is typically unionized. You won't find illegals working on a skyscraper or large structure project.
  10. Yes, but the muslims you are talking about aren't living in a country were Islamic law and fundamentalist are in rule. American democracy and freedom allowed them to open there stores and be successful.
  11. Cool. Maybe another hotelier will jump in and build there own to pick up the slack.
  12. Great pics and good news. I guess the superdome was cheaper when the state built it back in the 70s as for public financed projects. Anyway, I think this will also help spur more growth in the wareshouse distric also.
  13. That's beautiful. Looks like Kingwood is getting theirs also and Sugarland is on their way too.
  14. My sister is a fashion designer in Louisiana and regularly shops there to when she comes in.
  15. I agree. The City of Houston and Harris County have no needs for more airports. More Airports will only hurt them. Fort Bend, Brazoria, and Galveston counties will have go on there own if they want and airport. An Airport in Fort Bend will only benifit Sugarland and maybe Westchase. Airports are built for commercial use and not for the general vacationing traveler. Businessmen that need an airport will be the ones to push for another one. I do think that the SW is the only ideal location for a new one.
  16. Yeah, I don't want typical suburban shops and restraunts in the place. I'll like to see some stores and restraunts we don't have already.
  17. Actually, I didn't know Hooter's Air was still operating. I guess that do have wings instead of breasts at that place The Destinations Map isn't that bad if you are on the east coast and want to go to Florida, Colorado or Las Vegas.
  18. Well, people on here are always complaining left and right about this city. I'd figure I'll drop my optimism for a second and feel what it's like to be depressed all the time and worry about all this stuff. I really don't care about that designation. I hear any of that music while driving in town or those cars all pimped out. I guess I just don't run in those circles. I'd rather ignore the perceptions people have of our city because talking about them will just keep it going. Most of this city aren't the stereotype people mention. The same with many other cities like New Orleans, Dallas, New York, LA. And most of you can put some to those cities. Anyway, what is hip-hop? Bad music I guess, but that is suggestive also.
  19. Does anyone pass by this area regularly? Just to at least inform us of what's happening. Pics would be nice when things start moving, but not necessary.
  20. Great, that puts another stigma on Houston.
  21. I remember when Rite Aid bought K&B. The store in my home town of Thibodaux was once one of the busiest drug stores became empty. People wouldn't shop there because it wasn't K&B anymore. Does the K&B building in New Orleans still have all the cool artwork?
