  1. None of yall recognize that statement?A HAIFer used it in an another thread titled"Dallas Victory VS. HPavilions".Was it flaming when that poster said it or is it no because it was about Victory and he's from Houston?

We know you guys think that this Super Bowl will be nothing like Houstons. But I guess the fear you guys have that it will be better, brings out your negative comments.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The new Dallas Cowboys stadium in Arlington will host the 2011 Super Bowl, the National Football League announced today.

NFL owners, in a secret ballot, chose North Texas over bids from Arizona and Indianapolis.

The game is not only expected to turn the world's attention to the Dallas area -- nearly 140 million people watched all or part of this year's Super Bowl, played in Miami -- but also to generate hundreds of millions of dollars in economic benefits to North Texas cities and businesses.

I've noticed that none of our Houston buddies are chiming in after this post.

  3. I stop watching MTV when Cinderella every rose has a thorn video was released.

Ever heard of Poison?I heard that song was written in a Dallas landromat.

I stopped watching when the introduced MTV Jams.More music ,less "reality" music television.

  4. According to ESPN, there's an estimated 60 million soccer fans in the United States. Sounds like a lot to work with.

I'm sure not many of that 60 million are from Texas. This is a football state.Soccer is way down the line. There's even high schools up here in the DFW,that have a bigger following with their hockey teams.

  5. Quick follow-up for everyone.

I now have an apartment a couple blocks off Montrose * (a dump with a capitol DUMP). for the next 6 months.

While waiting for the landlord to show up (I was early), I was able to walk over to Montrose, have a cup of coffee, walk around and explore some.

    Nice stuff.

I had already decided to have lunch at the Flying Saucer once I was done with everything.

I parked in one of the lots soon to be the Pavalions (if they ever break ground on that mess) and went in to do some business at the new job. As part of that, I walked down to another Chase building down on main and did the last of my business for the day in Houston.

On my way out of the building I was about to head back to the car and punch the Flying Saucer into my nav system, when I noticed that I'm standing right across the street from the place.

Nice to know it is downtown, my Wednsdays after work are set (and its about 3 miles to the apt).

Stop by one day and remind me that I'm not crazy for moving down there.

    * I still have topay my mortgage in Fort Worth until we sell the house, so 450 sq ft is all I'm going to need. I won't be there for many weekends, as I'll be driving back to see my wife and kid each weekend until we've sold and bought a house. It is a dump, but the parkinglot has decent cars in it, and the area itself seems cute and fairly safe (we'll see).

    (getting closer)

So how's Houston been treating you?Like to hear some feedback on the transition from Cowtown to H-Town.

Here's some FW pics for ya..........

  6. If MLS could attract the best players in the world to play in the league,I would watch.I only know of Beckham because he's supposed to be some soccer god.The NHL lost me after Dallas won its cup.FCDallas plays too far from FW.I would catch an occasional game on t.v.,but no one player made me want to watch more.MLS would need to bring some major players to keep an audience. Not just people that are fans because the home team won a championship.

  7. I'm not going to argue this Trill, it's pointless. You guy's are looking for a fight, and I'm not willing.

Like I said before,no one makes anyone else read or post in this sub-forum.And I'm not looking for a fight, look around this forum,I'm the underdog in the Dallas/Houston junkyard.

  8. This type of sensless comment is exactly what I'm talking about. By the way, Galveston happens to be in the Houston metro, just like Ft Worth is in the Dallas metro. You can't have it two way's Trill.

And what two ways would that be?Most folks on here include the beaches as part of Houston's attractions and never mention the metro part about it.If yall would be as specific as y'all would want the Dallas posters to be,there would be no debate or whatever.

  9. I take responsibilty for my part in some of the flame wars in the past, but some of the Dallasites are to blame too. They tend to get overly sensitive when you criticize any part of their city. It's almost like they think their every aspect of their city is perfect and there's nothing that could be done better. We on HAIF criticize our own city countless times. How is Dallas exempt? (Especially on a Houston forum.) I look on dallasmetropolis.com all the time and they don't talk about Houston as much. Whenever Houston is mentioned, there's some positive mentioned and some negative. But Dallasmetopolis doesn't have us Houstonians breathing down their neck on every negative post that's made about Houston, thus their website can be disguised as " A website that's more mature or civil than HAIF".

Although my review of Dallas wasn't 100% positive, i still think it was overall a positive review. This isn't my first time going to Dallas but i wanted to give a more recent review of my impressions this last time i went. Dallas to me never gave the impression of a city with a real busy and active nightlife and my impression still hasn't changed. I still think Houston's activity is easier to find because of our Commercial BLVDS. I will visit Greenville AVE next time though.

I still don't know what everyone is trippin' about because i think Dallas overall is more progressive than Houston. That's mainly because Dallas has been successful in bringing in Mass Transit and TOD while Houston is stil struggles to get it implemented. But there are better things i like about Houston such as: nightlife, skylines, beaches, and etc. I think some people should respect that there are people that think Dallas doesn't rank over Houston in everthing.

    Peace Out!!!

    Tierwestah "Tommy" Jones

Where are the beaches in Houston? The only part of the city I havent spent much time in would be the Northeast.Could they be there?Could I get some directions?I never noticed any beaches in the rest of the city.I'll be heading to Beaumont pretty soon, and I would like to visit one of Houstons beaches.

  10. I also wasnt trying to start anything .I was just posting about my observations.I'll admit FW is no Dallas Or Houston.I'm comfortable with that.Troyboy nothing you said hurt my feelings. No one makes these people read the posts at this sub-forum.Why not throw a little FW into the mix?

  11. I agree that FW doesnt have MUCH of a nightlife. And that sucks. But,seriously, does everyone inside Dallas county look at everyone in Tarrant county as "un-hip"?You know ,as that tag along, red headed, canadian, little step brother.

When I'm in conversation with folks on that side of DFW,its always the ones that arent from Dallas that absolutely hate FW.Mostly because no one is cool like people are cool in Dallas. Its funny.

Oh'and nothing funky about "Cowtown",we are called "Funkytown" because of all the manure on all our dirt roads.

  12. The Texans got some work to do,although they are not far from making the playoffs.O-Line and QB should be priority.

Even though the COWBOYS season isnt over,at some point we may need some O-Line help also. And we all know we need DB's.

Who ever said coaching is right, but its not Big Bill. It's the fact that we let Payton get away. Our play calling sucks right now.Got to get the ball to TO more.

  13. Horrible game for Houston.I'm thinking the whole offense may need a makeover,I knew they wouldnt beat the Pats but I THOUGHT they would put some points on the board.Blalock from Texas is a must have for Houston.

Oh,and my COWBOYS Dfense will need to step it up again, clinching a playoff spot aint enough. We need the division title, for starters.

P.S.-We spit in the face of haters!

  14. I think what amazed me about Bags, was the odd mechanics of his swing, and how he generated all that bat speed from hip rotation. And it didn't hurt that he had forearms like Popeye. But that wide stance and the fact that he stepped back to start forward inertia was simply amazing. His swing mechanics went against all things taught at the lower level, I bet he drove hitting coaches crazy, but hey, it worked out very damn well.

That is what I always liked about him.His swing and mechanics were odd,but special.Hate to see him go.
