  1. Stop acting like crybabies.

This thread was originally started by some poster named "ProHouston" about the Cowboys and that so-called football team in Houston, and received posts from the "usual suspects" including two out of the last three posters before I ever got involved. Comments were made about both teams, and the thread turned into a trash talikng match, similar to those trash talking matches many engage in, about their favorite sports teams. BUT, some of you forgot that in order to talk trash (and not appear foolish), you have to have something to talk trash about, yourself. I just reminded everyone here of that fact. . .the fans of Houston's so-called fotball team don't have room to talk trash about most other NFL teams, much less America's Team. . .The Dallas Cowboys! There's no comparison from a historic standpoint (8 superbowl appearances, 5 superbowl championships). Houston's team can't touch the Cowboys from 2007 Season (NFC East Champs vs happy to be 8-8). So, don't get mad and hurl insults. You can call me any name in the book, and it still won't change the fact that the Houston Texans are LOOSERS. Remember that next time you want to get into a trash talking contest, or somebody might state something (again) that'll just end up hurting your feelings (again). It shouldn't be that serious anyway. B)

  2. I don't log in for a few days, and look what I come back to find. . .continued trash talking by a group who supports a team who are by definition LOOSERS (total win vs. loss ratio). I guess what they say is true. Houston's so-called football team isn't worth talking about. . .even around here. In oder to talk meaningful football, the folks in Houston have to talk about America's Team. Alas, in Dallas, we're used to it. When you're popular and envied, "haters" are just part of life. Well, I guess the more haters the better. I hope Houston, gets a football team worthy of discussion form its citizens. Until then, I will accept and appreciate all of the (negative) energy Houstonians put forth towards hating the Dallas Cowboys. Thank you Houston Haters. . . Thank You!!! [takes a bow]

  3. The rail should be the number one priority for the city. If the stadium is going to affect the route, the location should change.

Exactly. It's probably better NOT to plan rail around a stadium for a team that may or may not be here in 10, 15, 20 years!

  4. The Pro Bowl doesn't mean a thing, so you can grasp on to that if you want. How about we see who made the All-Pro team:

    Dallas Cowboys:

    Terrell Owens

    DeMarcus Ware

    Jason Witten

    Flozelle Adams

    Leonard Davis

    Houston:

    Mario Williams

    DeMeco Ryans

Yeah, you sure showed me something! . . .Thanks for helping me out. Trae, as I stated to you before, in another thread. . .just be proud of HOSTING championships, I'll be proud of a tradition of WINNING Championships.

Red, these guys need some help. Keep em coming.

ESPN Classic is now the number 1 rated channel in Dallas!

 Good one. That's the best one, so far.

  5. And 713 to 214, did you know that the Cowboys are the first team in NFL history to lose in the divisional round of the playoffs after being the NFC #1 Seed (since the new format came into play in 1990)?

Did you know that the Dallas Cowboys hold the record for superbowl appearances at 8? That's 8 more than the Houston Oilers, and the Houston Texans combined.

Did you know that the Dallas Cowboys share the record, with Pittsburg and San Francisco, for superbowl victories at 5? That's 5 more than the Houston Oilers, and the Houston Texans combined.

Keep em coming. I've got more stats for you.

  6. The following is taken from this thread.

Good to have a team good enough to at least join in the smack talk. We sounded really stupid talking smack with a 2-14 team (stupider than we sound now). :P

Guess what? . . .Texans fans still sound stupid trying to compare any one of their football teams to America's Team. Pass the memo along. :D

  7. Too bad for the Cowboys. I can't say that I am surprised by the result, though. They played like the Texans yesterday, and just like the Texans, they'll have to watch the rest of the playoffs at home. The only difference is that the Texans never made the playoffs.

    BTW:

New Rule: Before you can make fun of a playoff team for loosing, you have to be from a town that has fielded a playoff team within the last ten years! That pretty much disqualifies everyone in this thread.

  8. A grid of wide elevated skywalks is planned, with bits and peices of it already existing. People movers aren't inconceivable once the system is more extensive, especially if they ultimately end up crossing Brays Bayou.

This is interesting. Do you have a source for this plan I can reference, and an expected completion date?

  9. Austin is the most progressive or liberal city in Texas as far as voting but . . .

I think this is a falicy. With the 1st elected black district attorney in Texas, the 1st openly lesbian Sheriff elected in Texas, openly gay elected council member who was in a runoff in the most recent mayoral election, and the largest voter-approved rail system in Texas, I'd say that Dallas is probably the most "progressive or liberal" city in the state. Austin just gets the most pub from liberals outside the state who don't know any better.

  10. Though not going to the playoffs, are peaking up.

Assuming that's true, if they're not going to the playoffs, what does it matter? Oh, let me guess. . . "it gives fans hope for next year?"

Cowboys back on track again with a 20-13 win over Carolina last night. Don't know if Jessica was there, but hopefully she stays away for the rest of this season.

Yeah, She was there last night. I, personally, dont buy into the whole Jessica Simpson Jinx thing created by the media.

On another note, I hope Green Bay loses today so that we'll have home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

  11. Metro's 0.83 bus accidents per 100,000 miles traveled is much better than Dallas Area Rapid Transit's figure of 1.77, but DART's 0.13 light rail accidents over the same distance easily beats Metro's 4.0. Unlike Metro, most of Dallas' system is separated from street traffic.

Good to know I can count on the folks over at the Chronicle to perpetuate the Houston Versus Dallas "imaginary challenge." But, I guess Dallas is Houston's measuring stick in many ways, so it has to be taken as a compliment. Next time, though. . .before you decide to just pull a city out of your hat for comparison purposes, at least explain the similarities that justiy the comparison.

  12. So, does anyone here think the Texans will finish with a wining record, or at least .500? There's always hope. . .right?

Texans hope strong finish can propel them to best season so far

HOUSTON -- The Houston Texans still have a lot to work for despite being eliminated from playoff contention.

One more win in these last two game would give them the best record in franchise history. If the Texans (7-7) win both games they'll post their first winning record.

It won't be easy though, as Houston finishes this season with AFC South foes Indianapolis and Jacksonville.

Andre Johnson, who was drafted by the Texans before their second season in 2003, thinks a winning record would give the team momentum for success next year and beyond.

"In order for you to be a successful football team, you have to just take steps toward our goal and that's getting to the playoffs and then eventually one day winning the Super Bowl," Johnson said. "So we have to start off by having a winning season and that's something we've never had and we're going to work toward getting that these last two games."

A win Sunday would mark the first time the Texans have had a three-game winning streak in one season. They had a four-game winning streak earlier this year, but it stretched over two seasons.

Last year's top overall pick Mario Williams, said it's time for Houston to post a winning record. The defensive end has had nine sacks in the last five games to push his season total to 13, which leads the AFC.

"That's what I was drafted for," Williams said when asked about finishing with a winning record. "I feel like I have to be accountable to my teammates and this organization to go out and try to help us win a game and get a winning season."

Defensive end N.D. Kalu believes the team is motivated to finish strong and as an 11-year veteran he'll remind his younger teammates of the importance of these last two games.

"It just solidifies the fact that we're playing for pride," Kalu said. "We're playing for the city of Houston to have a winning football team, we're playing for the owner of the team to have a winning football team and we're trying to keep jobs." . . . .
