Maybe I need to stop going by what I read on DallasMetropolis.
No! What you need to stop doing is reading "plans" studies, and information otherwise not confirmed for development and then taking that information and (re)posting it elsewhere as though it's a confirmed project. You do this often on both HAIF and Dallasmetropolis, and probably other places. Aside from it being foolhardy, and misleading to those who don't know any better, it's rather annoying, IMHO. Just wait until the relevant media is released which confirms the construction of a project then you can go around and repeat it's going to happen all you want. Please remember that developers, governments, and transit agencies change their "plans" all the time.
As for DART's DT "subway," the 2nd DT alignment is currently being "planned," and several options include below-grade rail and stations. While one of these options will probably happen in the next 5-7 years, at this point it is far from certain.

With Discovery Green seeing considerable patronage in its infancy stage (let's hope it continues past the honeymoon period), this project is set to become a prime asset for DT, and Houston in general.

Has Starwood issued a press release regarding the W Houston yet?
I repeat my question. Do people here actually think that Starwood is going to build a W hotel without issuing a press release, or are some posters really just fooling themselves, and others, who don't know any better?

Um, yeah kid, I'm quite familiar with the different dimensions for soccer, football, and baseball fields. After having been to probably close to 100 events at the 2 venues I also have a pretty good sense of their dimensions. Way back in architecture studios we learned a thing or two about the need for basic due diligence.
Look, I appreciate your enthusiam for Houston and all things related. Your seemingly non-stop spamming of every urban forum on the net with "Houston is the biggest, greatest, bestest!" cheerleading gets a bit tiring, though (Remember, homework is our friend.) Ever consider that maybe some of us who hold different opinions than you might actually have a background in the subject and perhaps know what we are talking about?
Great description of this individual. I can't tell you how many times I (and many others) have wanted to type those same words.
What is the Dynamo's franchise current value?

I'd like to see the "purple line" extended further south to serve the Meyerland/Meyer Park areas, and then turn east at the intersection of S. Post Oak and Belfort, headed for Reliant Park.

You must understand...I get less than four hours of sleep each weekday . . . .
This statement explains A LOT.

Too bad we couldn't get the Arts District cranes in any of those shots. However, there is a live cam I think that can capture them all. I'll look for the link.
This live cam captures the Arts District cranes, and many of the others. You can control the camera's movement to catch most of the cranes up in and around Victory. Marketing pieces for most, if not all, of these projects reference Victory's close proximity as a incentive to move. So, I guess the argument could be made that Victory is helping to spawn additional development.

I know Houston is a black mecca, just that being a black mecca is on the top of what Atlanta is known for.
Would you mind defining the term "black mecca," please. I don't understand what you mean. It can't be from a city government standpoint (you know the people who run the city), as evidenced by the following list of council members. http://www.houstontx.gov/council/gallery.html.

Waste management garden?
Doesn't sound very appealing, does it?
-
713 to 214, you might owe me a beer before this is done.
Sure thing, and thanks for the crane count. Pick any of the following places in Victory and let me know when we're drinking.
CRAFT
GHOSTBAR
HOUSE OF BLUES
KENICHI
LA CONDESA
LUNA DE NOCHE
MEDINA
N9NE
NOVE
VICTORY TAVERN
LIVING ROOM
Thanks for the crane count, again. Too bad we couldn't get the Arts District cranes in any of those shots. However, there is a live cam I think that can capture them all. I'll look for the link.

You were saying?
We didn't have Dirk. What did you expect? Seriously, though, I didn't really believe the Mavericks would win. They're not playing very good right now. The Rockets however are on a roll. Better hope they aren't showing they're playoff muscle too soon. The second season is a little different than the regular season.
-
It's been said that Victory only has 700 residents. It was suppose to have almost 7,000 by this time.
In the words of one of our most infamous posters. . ."prove it!" lol
-
I believe him. . . This thread is pushing 1,000 replies. I'd say it has good reason to keep going!
Can't argue with you there. I'm just having fun. However, you should talk to the pedant about making comments when he doesn't have all of the facts. It could get embarrasing
-
My prediction is that the Mavericks will halt Houston's win streak tonight in a devastating loss. . .even without Dirk Novitzki
-
There weren't at least 17 other cranes up within a half-mile radius from that site when I was there last.
Prove it.
Let's make it interesting. If I can prove it, will you forever stop posting in this thread?
-
We have been saying that on this thread from day one.
. . .and you've been wrong since day one. There are at least 17 other cranes up within a half mile radius from this site. Many of them are just a few blocks away. The financing problem experienced for this project was site/developer specific. This project is way more ambitious than many others going up now.

Welcome to Stadium City!. . .We finance them all.

After 64 pages of commentary, can someone answer the following questions for me?
1. Has the alignment for this line been determined yet?
2. Has a date certain been announced for the groundbreaking of this line?
-
I can't help but laugh when they think these will be all up and running by 2012.............
I've been waiting for that reality to sink in.

A big KUDOS goes out to Sen Hutchinson. I don't often praise Republicans, but her work for public transit in Texas deserves recognition.
It's a shame that a native of DFW has to be the one to step to the plate for Houston!
She'll be running for governor soon. I'm sure she'll want you to remember this deed.
-
As I stated in the other W thread, I know someone who works for Starwood and is pretty familiar with their expansion plans. He said the next W that will be built in Texas will be built in Austin, not here. He said Houston will eventually get one, but we're pretty low on the list (as in, not on it at all at present). He also said all of the conjecture about Houston W locations in the other thread is just that - conjecture.
I think this goes for the Ritz-Carlton as well.
-
Has Starwood issued a press release regarding the W Houston yet?
-
Mister X, I promise there's medication you can take for that problem. You seriouslyneed counseling (as will be evident by your response to this post). I've never seen anyone else get as fired up and as angry as you over words on a screen.
The Victory Park Mardis Gras was pretty good for a first time around. Having lived in New Orleans for three years (Pre-Katrina) I know what the real thing looks like, and this one parade by no means is worthy of comparison. However, Mystiqal is further evidence that Victory Park is continuously being programmed for activities that draw crowds for events other than Stars or Mavericks games, and the rich. . .a sentiment expressed all too often on HAIF by people who don't know any better and/or whose sole purpose is to diminish what Victory Park is on its way to becoming.

My ultimate would be to see the Texans and Cowboys in a Super Bowl. . .
What. . .are you kidding me? Houston will looooooooose (get it this time?) anothersports franchise before the Texans will ever make it to a Super Bowl. I could be wrong though. Mario Williams may be able to single-handedly sack them into the championship game.
Los Angeles going light rail

I thought Los Angeles already had light rail service with the Blue, Green, and Gold Lines. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Los_Angeles_C...Rail#Light_Rail
