  1. Are you referring to the following post? http://www.houstonarchitecture.info/haif/i...indpost&p=33169 You need help.
  2. More fiction!! It's clear from your post that you are a little too emotional right now. Why don't you take a step back from your monitor, take three deep breaths, and try again. . .this time be civil (that means no profanity or name calling). If you think you "blew me out of the water" there's nothing I can do to change your mind. You're entitled to YOUR OPINION!
  3. The only thing I have a problem with, on this forum, is people passing their opinions off as truth. If it's your opinion, that's fine. That's what forums like this are for. However, when one attempts to influence other people by peddling erroneous statements, then that's where I draw the line. Yes, I'm pro-Dallas, and Pro-Houston!
  4. Sure, as I have provided to support my comments in many other posts. However, this time I'm not going to do your research for you. If you're really interested in the issue, you'll do a little research yourself. However, if you are more interested in accepting statements as true, without first confirming their veracity, just because they sound good to you, then there is no amount of sources I could provide that would change your mind anyway.
  5. Not only are Houston's expensive neighborhoods spread out, but so are many things. That's one thing I don't like about Houston. It's too spread out IMO. But that's just me. I prefer a more dense urban environment.
  6. Go to "South Park." Go down 288, South of 610. Exit Belfort or Airport. After you go there, I'll point you to many other places in Houston's City Limits where there are cows grazing right next to urban residential neighborhoods. I swear, some of you must not have lived here long.
  7. The Cowboys' new stadium will have a retractable roof. So, it won't matter (at least not for the game itself).
  8. So other than Roy Hofheinz and Mattress Mac, where are the visionaries?
  9. Dallas will get the 2011 Superbowl. That makes chances very slim that Houston will get it in 2010. I don't think that the NFL will select two Texas Superbowls back to back.
  10. I guess they're catching their second wind. RedSCare why did you bring the Rangers into it when I didn't mention the Rangers?
  11. For those who actually think that Houston's mass transit system is on par with Seattle's, please visit the following links to make your own comparrison. In my opinion, Houston doesn't come close. Anybody who has actually visited Seattle can tell you the same. http://www.soundtransit.org/riding/ http://www.soundtransit.org/projects/svc/link/ http://www.soundtransit.org/projects/svc/sounder/ http://www.soundtransit.org/projects/svc/st-express/ http://ridemetro.org/
  12. Astros. . .2004 Contenders for the pennant. . .2005 Cellar Dwellars. . .What a difference a year makes.
  13. Thanks for the clarification. I don't share the same view toward future expansion of rail in Houston. Those rails won't be uncovered for another thirty years. . .if ever. I've been watching Houston's attempt to build meaningful rail for the past 25 years. The city always goes in the direction of more roads. . .less rail. The same is tru with this new plan, no matter how much the powers that be try to placate your fears by telling you that "we're setting things up for expansion later." Construction costs are not going to go down. They will only go up over time. Therefore, the ridership numbers needed to justify that "expansion" will continue to go up year after year after year. Get it? But, If you still believe that those buses will be replaced by rail anytime soon, then I've got some land about fifty miles south of New Orleans that I'd lke to sell you.
  14. You are to be comended for your dedication to mass transit. It seems as though you go through a lot (of transfers) to accomplish your daily commute. I wish more people would embrace that same outlook. However, the sad reality is that you are the exception NOT the rule when you look at Houstonians as a whole, and how they feel about METRORail.
  15. Houston doesn't even begin to come close to Seattle's Mass Transit infrastructure. You shouldn't compare the two. Unless you're doing it to make yourself feel better about getting the shaft on METRORail's new plan that gives Houstonians more buses instead of more rail, when the latter is what the voters approved.
  16. Not many people ride the rail line b/c it doesn't serve many of their communities. It's basically only useful for those living in the Medical Center/Reliant Park area who work downtown. Otherwise, it's just basically a tourist attraction.
  17. I know it's fun to talk about, but, if we are real with ourselves, then we should realize that Houston NOR Dallas will host the Olympics anytime before 2030. So let it go. . .and there are plenty of articles out there that state that the Cowboys' new stadium is basically a lock for the 2011 Superbowl. Hell, even Paul Tagliabu said it when he was in town for the election results approving public funding for the stadium.
  18. I'll take her over the pedophile maniac "South Park Mexican" anyday.
  19. I'm not going to do your research for you. However, I'm CONFIDENT that the answer you seek will be found by starting here. http://www.ridemetro.org/motion/solutions/resources.asp No. that's not the only way. If you are really interested in knowing the answer (as opposed to just blurting out your personal unsupported opinions), then click the link above. There is no need for you to continue spinning your wheels when METRO (via your tax dollars) has already conducted a study. Don't reinvint the wheel.
  20. No offense intended here. However, you can't expect people to take that type of data seriously do you?
  21. Metro takes heat as rail expansion plan moves off course 07:18 PM CDT on Monday, June 27, 2005 By Dan Lauck / 11 News Metro is taking heat that its light rail expansion plan is way off course. Some original supporters said the transit agency has offered them nothing but empty promises. Future phases to expand the rail could be buried. They voted for a clean, bright, friendly train. What they're getting instead north and south of downtown is a BRT -- that's 'B' as in 'bus.' . . TXCN Article with video
