  1. Well I can tell you one thing for sure: there will never be a Houston socialite up to her ears in an oil for food scandle by way of her hubby. I wonder if she and Oscar are footing any of their buddy Saddam's defense costs?

Anyway, besides her involvement with one of Saddam's enabelers, I nominate her as Houston's Most Anorexic Socialite. What a grand example to represent our city: "Oh looky! Theres Lynn Wyatt at the opera. I wonder if Saddam or Oscar gave her the jewels?"

Lynn is a strong woman with or without Oscar, even if he is in trouble with the U.S. government. There is nothing that she can't handle. "Have ya ever seen her at a party or dinner?", Lynn loves to eat! ; and she sure isnt going to let her husband's mishaps turn her into a scared recluse.

  2. Joanne Johnson King Herring Davis still outshines them all. I have read she is invited to almost every major event throughout the world and is always the center of attention at each event she attends.

Joanne King, pictured here in 2006, with Jane Curtin, Carolyn Farb, and Michelle Williams

Joanne has been around for a very long time, but she is just a regular compared to Lynn. Becca even said there will probably never be another socialite from Houston or Texas that has the celebrity and know status of Lynn Wyatt.

  3. Ima Hogg is the most famous deceased socialite, as by giving her huge mansion Bayou Bend to MFA. Lynn Wyatt is the reigning socialite and has been for the last 30 years, she is not only tops in Houston, but internationally as well. Who else in Houston could have their good friend Andy Warhol paint a picture of them? Anytime whether it be a newspaper in NYC or London when the word international or american socialite is mentioned Lynn Wyatt is defined. Lynn always knows how to be herself which is glamourous, fun, and always classy. Becca Cason Thrash often dubbed the next Wyatt, is just as spectacular , she knows how to throw a party every aspect of it, she is definetly not some boring art patron. She as Lynn did a long time ago, is climbing the international jet set ladder. Allison Sarofim who still has a house and connections here in Houston. lives in NYC and is a major socialite in the big apple,as well as having a burgeoning acting career.

  4. Actually, Becca Cason Thrash, who is arguably the city's #1 in that regard, lives - gasp! - outside the loop (in the toniest part of Memorial, to be sure).

Lynn Wyatt is acutually numero uno as far as Houston or even Texas society is concerned, and she does live in River Oaks in a quaint but very stylish georgian house. Lynn's old house once dubbed the Wyatt Regency is still my fav in River Oaks the mansion has been doubled in size since Jim & Cherie Flores moved in. Becca Thrash's who could be numero uno someday has a 22,000 sq ft party palace off of memorial that is like a museum!,the inside gets even better with a huge pool, parties always last after midnight at the Thrashes.

  5. Now this rumor about the River Oaks theater is getting serious,Texas social queen and international art patron Lynn Wyatt, is going to talk and debate to the city council on Thurs about the supposed demolition of the River Oaks Theatre and its neighbors. Lynn Wyatt will bring some clout to the public outcry of this horrific and hopefully false rumor.

  6. I think the Four Seasons would be surprised to learn it's not a five-star hotel.

Shangri-La is starting a big expansion project into the United States. Maybe one will land in Houston.

Shangri-La would be amazing for Houston, but I would love to have a Penisula even more than a Ritz-Carlton. Hotel Derek is the current answer for a W; the Bistro Moderne on site has some very good french faire, and anywhere where Lynn Wyatt takes all of her celebrity buddies is a hot spot. I can see Ritz Carlton opening in the Boulevard or even a W there.

  7. Only one i remember is Stonebriar....

Northpark is the best shopping mall in Dallas ever case closed not only is it classy, its very convienent. The Houston Galleria just has an amazing selection and the part that stretches from Neimans to Saks is the older part and therefore is the poshest. The Galleria has really improved since its renovation, the Neimans is the nicest one Ive ever been to.The Dallas Galleria is ok, it just cant compete with Northpark anymore and for sure not the Galleria in Houston.

  8. I really do love the Neimans in Houston its my fav out of all the ones that I've been to.

I love it when at night in Aug you open your car door and the thick humid hot air hits you in the face. The air conditioning in your car, home, where ever you are, feels so good in Houston.

The mysterious huge live oaks and pine trees mixed with the lighted mixed style River Oaks mansions at night is enchanting, and attending a party especially at the Thrash's manse at night in Memorial is unforgetable.

  9. Houston does have alot more millionaires, probably the most in the south. There are many people that come really close to making the billionaires list in Houston, such as Oscar Wyatt who use to be on the list back in the day. He lost alot of money when he owned 5 million shares of El Paso and the company's stock went way way down after it bought out his Coastal Corp. Robert Mosbacher the former George H W Bush secretary is worth over 250 million. James Flores CEO of Plains is one of the richest in Houston as well, his house in River Oaks the former Wyatt Hyatt, has since been doubled in size and now is worth over 20 million. The Marshall estate billions is now in Fort Worth with his son, after his death.

  10. Lynn Wyatt anorexic? ,hardly, she is known to be a verocious eater! Her father says he didnt know what was more expensive clothing her or feeding her. She is a very active women she was one of the first people to have a personal trainer. Lynn is a third degree black belt in Taekwondo and hired one of the most famous teachers in Pilates to her house for 2 weeks of extensive pilates lessons. Lynn Wyatt is the same today as she was in high school. When Lynn went to her 50th class reunion at San Jacinto high; she stayed for the day festivities, but kindly turned down the night festivities, because she had to entertain Donald Trump and his former wife Ivana to dinner at her house. Lynn's former friends said that Lynn hasn't changed one bit since high school. Lynn wears easily on people and is always having a good time.

Lynn has been known for years as the teflon socialite, because everything her husband Oscar has been indicted for or done has never rubbed off on her. These people or more than just common millionaires, they border being billionaires. Oscar's Coastal Corp, went from nothing to over 12 billion over the years. People in society are swarming around this power couple at parties as if nothing has or will happen.

Lynn looks like a much prettier Lauren Becall, hah they even know each other.

  11. The average person may not know Lynn Wyatt, but anyone who is anyone in the world knows La Lynn. She has given alot spotlight to Houston over the past 3 decades, she always says in the most classiest smokiest Texas accent that she is from Houston. She has brought the most celebrities and royalty to Houston over the years. Not only is Lynn and international icon, she has a rare trait and skill of charming every celebrity and luminary she comes in contact with. Houston isnt such a dumb redneck city to all the international jet set, the press and royals of the world thanx to Lynn. She appeared in the 3 magazines this month, Dominick Dunne did an article on her and hubby Oscar in Vanity Fair, and Vogue mentioned her probable upcoming book Thirty Years on the Riviera, Princes, Popstars, Paupers and Parties.

Houston socialites especially Lynn Wyatt and Becca Cason Thrash are at the top of just about everything when it comes to society, fashion, fine arts. parties and international spotlight.

That spotlight gives Houston some added class in the world because they associate Lynn and Becca, as well as Allison Sarofim in New York to Houston.

  12. I do miss Sakowitz alot, it had a great run in its heyday, who can forget that famous Sakowitz color green.

Lynn Sakowitz Wyatt is best thing that came from that family, She is Houston's gift to the international jet set. Who else from Texas can be best friends with Mick Jagger, Elton John, and invite Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz over for a dinner party. I also miss the short lived Barneys New York here in Houston, glad to see the CO-OOP store coming to the Galleria.

  13. I seem to recall that Ali did buy that sprawling home on Willowick with the backside facing Buffalo Bayou.

It was a big stone low-slung mansion with a guest house. I don't know if he ever lived there or not.

If you're wondering about Jews in RO, the Sakowitz's had a home there and of course Lynn Sakowitz Wyatt and Bobby Sakowitz have lived there. Joan Weingarten Schnitzer Levy [oy vey!] lives on Knollwood.

I think at some point $$ trumped religion.

    B)

Wow Lynn Sakowitz and Bobby Lipman that was a short marriage that was a long time ago. She moved up the ranks like crazy in international society after she married oil rich Oscar and set up shop in the Cullen mansion on River Oaks Boulevard by the country club. She doesnt even look like she is 70. Now they live in a smaller more quaint mansion in which Lynn calls it her little teepee.

  14. Houston and Dallas both have more than 3 or 4 thousand millionaires. Houston has the most millionaires in the state, and the people dress just as fashionable in Houston as they do in Dallas. I visit both cities and I live closer to Dallas. Houston has a more international big city feel. Houston has a social jet set that is known worldwide. Both cities are quite similiar, they both have the same amount of white collar jobs, Houston just has alot more blue collar with the port and oil and gas industry around it.

  15. It is worth noting that a list like this only takes into account the headquarters, not the bulk of the company.  Exxon is known throughout the world as a Houston company, yet since a few hundred execs have an office in Dallas, it is a Dallas headquartered company.

Similarly, BP has its North American headquarters here, but clearly is not a Houston company.  So, the two largest corporations in the world have large presences in Houston, but are not on this list as Houston companies.

Houston does have the bulk alot of companies whos headquarters are not in town, such as Chevron, Schlumberger, and isnt Shell based in Europe Royal Dutch Shell or something like that. It would be great to have another energy company move to the former Texaco Heritage Plaza once it gets remodeled. Williams just needs go ahead and move its headquarters from Tulsa into the Williams Tower.

  16. Northpark Center will be the queen of shopping centers in Dallas. The Neiman Marcus at the center is the most profitable one in the nation. Northpark has a new flagship Ralph Lauren,Tiffany & Co,Ted Baker,Juicy Couture,Kate Spade,Burberry,Dooney & Bourke,BCBG,and many other new stores opening. Northpark caters to the wealthy residents of the Park Cities,Uptown Turtle Creek area and Preston Hollow. The mall has a great classic design that has been the same since the 60s. Plus all the great sculpture art from the Nasher family.

Since the closing of the Town & Country Neiman Marcus, I can see the Houston Galleria location becoming the best in the nation;especially with the remodeling.
