  1. InnerLoop-Map-Newest%20edit.gif

Based on your prior post, I'm guessing you're mainly interested in the general area shown above. The location you mentioned as being where your work would be located is about where the "P" is in the Allen Parkway area above.

The problem is that what constitutes a "neighborhood" is a fairly loose and subjective concept in a city the size of Houston. "Allen Parkway", for example, is a road that runs along the bayou heading west of downtown, and not many people think of "Allen Parkway" as a neighborhood per se.

I think that area is considered an extension of The Heights, either Memorial Heights or Washington Heights.

  2. I got pulled over here in December for going 52 (which is what everyone is driving, if not faster). The cop also cited me for not having a front license plate. Didn't give me a warning, AND didn't even tell me he was citing me. I thought it was just for speeding until I looked at it later.

I have already scheduled a court date in March. I know they will find me guilty, but I want to be heard:

    1. No front license plate

    - Officer did not verbally inform me that this was a violation. He made no mention of it at all.

    - I had the license plate with me in the vehicle and would have happily installed it to avoid the citation

    - I installed the license plate later that day (picture to prove it)

    - On the drive from my house to the courthouse I passed 20 vehicles that did not have a front license plate. It appears many of the taxpayers of Brazoria County are unaware that this is a violation.

    2. 53 in a 35 on Kirby.

    - My argument here is that this road should not be a 35 MPH zone.

    - It is 2 lanes each way, with a 10 yd median in between.

    - There are NO roads or parking lots feeding in this zone

    - There are NO traffic signals or stop signs in this zone

    - The traffic is incredibly LIGHT

    - Everyone routinely drives 50 MPH+ on this road (and I now get my doors blown off when driving 35)

    (Pictures of Kirby)

    - FM 518 (Pearland's main road) is 2 lanes each way, with NO median, tons of strip mall entry, the busiest road in town by far, traffic lights galore, and is a 45 MPH zone!

    - McHard Rd (runs perpendicular to Kirby) is also 4 lanes with NO median, and is a 60 MPH Zone!

    - The old SINGLE lane road just west and parallel to Kirby, which has residential entries, is a 40 MPH zone!

(Picture of this road and 40 MPH sign)

Good luck, but the judges in Pearland are tough.

  3. I was heading to Wal-Mart the other day in Pearland. A co-worker asked me which one I was going to; the black one(West), the hispanic one(Highway 35), or the white one(Dixie Farm). I was dumb-founded by her ignorance, but everyone has their opinion I guess.

  4. Oh good grief its still down. I am going though major withdrawl here. I am wondering if MLS is down also because I haven't heard anything from our agent either about new houses on the market. However, nothing seems to be coming on the market AT ALL this summer in our search area that isn't cornering a major road or right near Gessner.

We (Realtors) can still access the MLS port.

  5. in this town???? of course!!!

I also would say Brennan's for a 1st class option. Just after would be Benjy's, Birraporetti's, Dharma's Cafe (great ambiance and service) Shade... However, you also have most mexican restaurants doing sunday brunch, java java in the heights has my fav eggs bene (but no booze), then barnaby's....

    mmm, now i'm craving....

My vote goes to Dharma's on the near Northside. Reservations are a must!! There are only a few tables inside, but they do have an outside patio with a cool view of DT.

  6. If you can afford it and also work near there, League City can be a good choice. The city government charges relatively high fees to developers and has requirements that developers set aside green space. Because it costs more to develop a subdivision there, the really low-end production homes aren't as common, and the community is more demographically-protected than most.

Just be sure to check what elevation you're at; League City may not flood easily, but storm surge is a different beast that could be devastating to some parts of League City.

If a cat 5 hits the bay LC is gone. One reason I chose Pearland, and only considered areas west of Highway 45.
