Also, evidently EaDo was going to put lights on their portion of the trail but were told to hold off because if they were going to make a change they wanted it to be consistent. Again, I think they are willing to do later hours and lighting, but there isn't funding to do the entire thing.
That's one of the most insane things I've ever heard. "Don't do some of it because we can't do all of it, and also please never walk your dog at night."
Sure, okay.
I'm willing to start harassing people over this, if I know who to harass. If it's park rules that apply, is it Houston Parks & Rec that's the sticking point?

Does anyone know if there's ever been any discussion of getting lighting on the Columbia Tap Trail? At this point, with the traffic it receives, it seems like a no-brainer. Jogging or riding it after dark still feels a little touch-and-go. Who would even be the agency responsible for getting it done?

Glad to know you're also fully backing the I-45 construction!
I said "great use of tax dollars" lol

Yep, they want to glom as much cash from the taxpayers as possible. Change of tune from their original proposal.
Libertarian ideals always go out the door when it comes time to charge the tax man instead of paying him.
That said, I couldn't care less. It's a great use of tax dollars, and whatever costume we have to put on it to get it over the finish line is fine by me.

Drive through is shown on the Lovett site plan in the link above.
Ah, inside the garage. That makes more sense, thanks!
And wow, I'd really forgotten how bad that building looked before they got started.

Am I the only one trying to figure out where a drive-thru goes on this building?

Do they have plans on moving? Those blocks next to 59/69 are all going away for the new highway.
I heard through the grapevine that they're planning for a space on Live Oak that fronts the tap trail. If that info is correct, my guess would be 905 or 908 Live Oak.
And I'll add my $0.02 to the hat and concur that their beer is great. They focus on Sours and Belgians, but they have a pretty wide selection. And the guys that run it are great too.

Where are all the homeless people in the rendering?
I'm just sitting here wondering where in that area you're supposed to get a clear view to the horizon

I think some people also see trains as a threat to their lifestyle. If trains get built all over the place then maybe they'll start taking away my right to drive directly to and from every single place I go. Also bike lanes.
Okay but that's not like a real thing that will happen, so it's not a fear I feel like I should have to take seriously lol

As someone who's newly a worker in one of those coworking spaces: yes.

How about a 30 story erection? How's that for a tribute to what made Montrose so popular for all these years.
Dude, you wanna try again? Uncalled for.

One can hope. They ripped out a bunch of mature trees in more or less the same locations during construction. It will probably take 20 years at a minimum for these to get back to the size of the previous trees.
Like he said... by the time they're done

An example is casual dress. This was pioneered by Silicon Valley companies like Google and now any tech company in the world just about will have its whole workforce coming to work in faded jeans and t-shirts. You could offer one of them an Armani suit and they would frown and shake their head. The slouchy clothes are a symbol of elite status (because great innovators wear slouchy clothes, not suits) and indicate their membership in the guild.
Counterpoint, this is because suits are expensive and uncomfortable, and are and always have been dumb.

Houston is getting a Bjarke Ingels???

Houston Slingshot has already been operating for a month or two, as Exotic Slingshot Rentals. They are based out of a portion of the building on the other side of How to Survive, along Harrisburg. They rent out Polaris Slingshots for use by the hour.
I had no idea that's what those were called or where they came from.

How amazing would it be if Elon buys out all of the existing pre-leases at the Ion and turns the entire building into Tesla’s new headquarters! Smack dab in the middle of the energy capital of the world.
Would take some major balls, but I can see Elon doing something like that now that he has moved to Texas officially.
no thanks...

In my book, the Texas HSR is vastly more necessary and valuable as an example than it will be as a direct benefit to the travelers of Texas, though the benefits there are huge as well. We desperately need a modern high speed rail SOMEWHERE in this country to get built and show people it can be successful, and that might as well be here in Texas.
Speaking for me personally, I travel to Dallas a few times a year and I hate - HATE - that drive. Something about it is just awful to me in a way that going to Austin or San Antonio isn't. Now that Southwest's prices aren't as competitive as they once were, and with airport shenanigans shaving off basically all the time saved by not driving, I know I would be seriously considering taking the HSR if it were an option.
