  1. but remember, there are far far more more blacks and whites draining the welfare rolls than mexicans. you also tend to see them (migrant mexicans) hanging around street corners looking for work while blacks and whites are looking for hand outs. i can understand your fustration but your anger is musguided as i see language as being the single most significant problem, everything else (too me at least) is a non issue.

i agree and i'm black. at least they hang around corners looking for work than standing around looking for a handout.
  2. Can houston be compared to LA or NYC? No, but it doesn't have to measure up to those cities to be international. are we more diverse than dallas? Hell yes. anyone who lives here should know that. just go over to china town. without going into every detail let's close this dicussion and move on.

  3. If there are awards for the worst architecture, Portofino should have received one. What were the architects and developers thinking when they came up with this monstrosity?

I did think it was quite hilarious when the holier-than-thous in Conroe pitched a fit over the "nude" statues in the center when it first opened.

i'd rather this shopping center than a whole lot of other shopping centers in the city.come on people

  4. Fox Sports Grill is coming to Houston.  It will be located in the Galleria.  Has anybody seen construction on this.  Will it be a seperate restaurant that you can enter from the outdoors, because I cannot see a FOX Sports Grill being small.

There are only 4 currently in the U.S.

i passed by their recently and it looks to be almost finished. the inside looks great. they are also doing other constuction to the galleria 3 area. not sure what else they are doing. can't wait till it opens.

  5. Personaly. i'm from a small town in Louisiana and moving here took some major adjustments. the language barrier for me is still the most frustrating. hey, i don't agree with all of what Citykid is saying, but i understand his observations of the city. look, he isn't saying anything that other visitors(non mexican) aren't saying when they visit. i don't think Citykid is against diversity. ithink he is against the way houston caters to the mexican community and not the others.for example, there was a big fuss about having spanish directions written on the light rail staions along with the english. i have no problem with metro including spanish directions if they include other languages also. if we cater to one community, we need to cater to them all. i'm all for people improving their life by working hard making an honest living but, if i was to go to mexico would it be as convenient for me or anybody else that's not mexican? the answer is no. you are just s**t out of luck. peace out.

  6. I'm very excited for the TEXANS! Great win. TWO IN A ROW! Now it's time for me to get a jersery.

oh, so now you are a fan after they win. if they lose next week, you'll probably go back to your fire everybody mentality.if you do buy a jersey, make sure you keep the receipt because if they lose you will return it. that's the type of fan you are.

  7. I know!

We should build Virgin mega store or an ESPN zone club.  That will bring them in.

What the hell does Dallas have that's so entertaining? The Sixth floor museum does not an entertaining weekend make.

I have no idea how Dallas gets those conventions. It must be better city management because the place is boring.I have relatives who live there and drive down here pretty often for entertainment.

  8. WestGrayGuy, I haven't heard of no such thing about Hilton Americas designed a room for a caniso. I think the big issue is why Texas don't have cansios? Because of our next door neigbhors, Louisiana. I think if Texas build canisos here (of course it's to be bigger the the ones in louisiana) louisiana will lose alot of money. People in Texas really supports the canisos in louisiana, but take away the Texans, louisiana will lose millions of dollars just because of Texas. If Texas really want canisos here, it's no problem getting them.

To me, Texas will probably never see a cansio.

Okay, I can't take it anymore,IT'S CASINOS.

  9. Say what you feel, cause if the Texans don't produce they're outta here just like the oilers, or it will be lesser crowd at the stadium. Then the owner and the GM have to find away to bring back the crowd, by adding top name players to the team. I know how things work from the inside, the fans (like yourself) looking from what they do on the field every sunday. I know what they do behind close doors, but I'm about to say what they do cause it's none of your concern. But I give you a hint... let the texans keep on having a season.

Are you on Paxil?Houston made the mistake in allowing the Oilers to leave, but they won't make the same mistake with this team. If the Texans don't produce, the crowd will get smaller:but that goes for every team in the NFL ( CARDINALS,SAINTS,LIONS,COWBOYS,)etc... Look dude, you haven't said anything on this post that i don't already know about GM's, lesser crowds, big time players, or whatever else you think you believe you know. On the other hand, i personally know Domanick Davis, J.J. moses,Brandon Stockley(Colts),and Kevin Faulk(Patriots). And you say you know what goes on behind closed doors? Please, you know about as much as any other football fan knows.stick to posting pictures of the Houston skyline, it seems to be the only thing you know how to do.

  10. No need to explain to an simple person like yourself, Houcajun. Texans problem is they can not execute in the red zone. They move the ball, but they can not punch it in. They don't execute plays right in crucial moments. And another thing that you don't know about. Carolina had mixture of guys on their team just like Texans have, veterans and rookies. Carolina was a more determine team then the Texans. I realize about the Texans also, that they don't have enough aggressive on the team. It have to be a leader pumping your team up, a coach can not always pump the team up. It has to be a leader(s) within the team to stark that flame, that momentum, that desire to win. That's why I admire the Linebacker from the Ravens, Lewis, now he pumps up his team. Now that's a leader, a strong leader that the Texans needs to get them ready for war on the gridiron every gameday. The Texans need to stay foucs, and execute every play as possbile, and cause less turnovers and mindless penalties.

Like I said before. The Texans better come out and play at their full potental this sunday against the Lions, if they don't. They will be heading to another good team, Kansas City Chiefs, followed by Oakland Raiders. Houston is a hostile crowd to deal with when you continue on having a losing season, just ask Bud Adams the former owner of the Oilers. And you say I don't know what I'm talking about? Please son, I take you to football 101.

Football 101?What you fail to realize is that Carolina focused on drafting mostly veteran players to their team, which resulted in their early success. Dom Capers said it himself on sports radio 610.He's on every monday at 5pm.call and ask. That's s-p-o-r-t-s-r-a-d-i-o-6-1-0.You are stuck on stupid. How many times do i have to tell you.The only class you'll be taking me to is remedial football. Ray lewis is a great leader and motivater, but that leadership didn't help them win sunday against Cleveland. Were they any less pumped, focused,or ready for war?Houston is a hostile crowd because of fans like you who think if they go 0-3there season is lost.If they go 0-10, i am still glad to support this team. That's a real fan.something you don't know about. So reach down and pull your head out of your( you know what).

  11. Excuse me. The Texans are not an expansion team anymore, and I know a great deal about football, cause I play semi pro. They even interviewed John Madden on the Texans, and he said the Texans should be 8-8 this season. Texans have a good team, yes. They have a good enough team to win 8 games, or even go to the playoffs. Look at Carolina, in their second year in the NFL they went to the second round of the playoffs, so don't tell me I don't know about football. Texans should win at lease 7 to 8 games this year, if not, somethings wrong with the coaching staff, or players. But of course, the GM and the owner going to take it out on the coaching staff, or cut some of the players that is not doing their job on the field. Texans have a hard season ahead of them.

Semi pro ?You mean flag football.that's it. As i stated in my last post,Carolina was an exception because they drafted older veterans, which greatly contributed to their early success.Refer back to that post because it seems you are a little slow.Must be that gridiron semi pro (flag football) you're playing. So, the TEXANS should be 8-8 because John Madden said so?Last time i checked, madden wasn't a prophet.look at the success the Cleveland Browns have had Mr. semi pro.

Stop the wishful thinking, developing a superbowl caliber team is a very slow process. A person who really knew football would know that. Be glad that Houston has a team to support.Bye the way, what is success without struggle? Remeber that.

  12. We will find out how good they are when they head to Detroit Sunday Game #2. If they lose this upcoming game, and the one against Kansas City Chiefs. If they become 0-3 the Texans can wrap up their 3rd season.

You obviously know nothing about football or theNFL.THe TEXANS are an expansion team. you can't expect them to be a playoff caliber team this early. it's not realistic.in fact, it takes years for a team to get to that level.only a few expansion teams have done it by drafting old veteran players.the TEXANS lost sunday because of turnovers.that's not the coaches fault.he wasn't carrying or passing the football.stick to architecture because you know nothing about this subject.

  13. All of the above! Plus let me add the fact that they ruin most small communities they go into. I know, I grew up in a small town in Southeast Texas and my family owns a business that has been there over 60 years and I've seen how Wal-Mart is extremely unfair in many of its business practices and how they try to run their competition completely out of business rather than compete with them fairly.

Also, Wal-Mart is an awful place to work. I know of no other major company in the US that has had the number of employment-related lawsuits filed against them that Wal-Mart has. They've been hit with charges of discrimination on multiple levels, wrongful firings, unequal pay based on race and gender, and more. The company treats its employees very poorly.

And then there's all of their false advertising. Remember all of Wal-Mart's "Made in the USA" ads from a few years ago? Most of what's in their stores is not made in the US and they are one of the biggest (if not the biggest) retail importers of goods made in the sweatshops of third-world countries.

In my opinion, Wal-Mart is not a good corporate citizen in this world in many ways. Add to that their dirty, disorganized stores, lousy customer service, slow checkout lines, massive parking lots that are usually bigger than they need, slow speed of getting in and out, and yes, all those customers with their hundreds of undisciplined screaming kids running around, and that's why I refuse to set foot in a Wal-Mart unless I am absolutely desperate. I don't care if I might save $50 a year shopping there. It's not worth it!

    Amen to that ,brother.
