  1. it's most likely your roof as other guys said, but one way to test to see if it's your roof for heat gain is to spray water on your roof on a hot sunny day like every 2 hours. it is actually used as an effective way to minimize heat gain from roof by having a some kind of sprinkler system on roof hooked up with sensor.

but for this purpose, try to spray your roof with garden hose or whatever and make sure that water gets just on the roof in question. if it stays cool inside, it's your roof causing all the hotness. if it doesn't, it's something else.

  2. FIFA is discussing taking away the golden ball from Zidane.

and DJ, if you add "US announcers" to your statement about announcers talking non-stop, i'll agree with you. they come up with the most outrageous stats just so there's no dead air. this doesn't happen in Europe.

the commentators during the world cup were terrible.

i can't agree more. u.s. commentators suck. i watched games in either chinese, polish, portugees or spanish. those commentators were so much better than u.s. commentators although i speak none of langueges i just mentioned...

  3. Donde esta la casa de Barragan? Does anyone know where this house is located?

it was going to be between rothko chapel and the menil collection, but never realized because of his death and appearent conversion problem from square-feet to square-meter... it was all on display at the menil collection a few years ago.

jurors of prizker gave him the award without actually looking at his projects. they saw his projects only on pictures, which were carefuly selected and slightly manipulated...

am i supposed to translate it into spanish? can i use freetranslation.com?

  4. i'm pretty sure that i'm the only one who is complaining on this, but....

come on puma, it's world cup! don't use same design for all teams in the world :angry2::angry2::angry2:

  5. which consistent agenda are they baldling pushing for years on end?

Like how METRO's light rail propositions are awesome, and urban living is desired...? Some agree, some disagree.

Cite is a pretty good magazine, in my opinion. I enjoyed Ephemeral City, learned a lot about Houston. But some materials are opinionated and subjective, which I think is fine.

Not related really, but when I was in school, my professor totaly disliked what a person wrote on Cite magazine, who was also a professor at my school. I thought it's funny....

  6. Architects looked at pictures of an old downtown fire station and designed the new fire station with old-fashioned features like a watch tower.

"If a fire station looks like a fire station and not a school, then people should be able to easily recognize that in an emergency situation, which I think is something we should do," said HFD Project Manager Barry Whitehead.

is it just me that doesn't look like fire station?

  7. drive-throughs at chase bank have little monitors showing cnn or somehting. and there are cameras installed right above the monitors. i guess that's for some kind of security to get attention so that they get a good look at your face or something. but this is at gas stations.... smells

  8. I know some people who have worked and done internship and are currently employed by Morris Architect. I'm not a big fan of what they do in terms of designs, but I've heard it is a great employer, and it is a great place to start internship, even you don't have any connections in the office. So, just knock on the door (actually call) and tell them you want to work or do internship. They'll be happy to help you out. Good luck.

  9. sorry to resurrect old thread, but since it's gonna be on this friday, i hope it's ok. i'm watching games at home... since i don't have cable, i'm gonna have to watch one of those spanish speaking channels. i'm not gonna understand spanish, but i think it'll be ok... go u.s.!! (and netherland)

  10. Is that a place near Bissonnet and Weslayan? I heard there was a good store there but I haven't been yet.

Yes. It's in that strip center... They don't have much stuff in there since it's a small store, but if you can wait, they'll find anything about classical music you are looking for like rarest recordings on vinyls.

Cactus Music wasn't my favorite either. They had ok selection on all categories. But they seemed to promote local artists which I thought pretty cool.

  11. does anyone have any info on an inspiron 9400? im looking for a laptop that will have its own cd-rom/burner and dual processor for around $1000. im not too concerned about how durable it is physically since most of the time it will be in my apartment. any suggestions from some tech savvy people?

i think you meant dual "core" processor since i don't think anyone makes dual processor laptop... i think dell's laptops in general are fine. they have better customer service, i heard.

  12. I would love to...only problem is the deed restrictions prohibit that. Otherwise I'd already have a huge garage/workshop with a nice big apartment above it, and a fat rent check paying for the whole thing every month.

In a couple years, when I can take my profits tax free, I'm going to sell and buy somewhere else where I can have that nice big garage/workshop/apartment.

oh, no... are you in river oaks area? they are very strict about new constructions...
