From where did you get this information?
From someone who works in the construction business (mostly highrises and apartment projects). Maybe he has it confused with something else.

Does anyone know the name and/or any other information on this building? They just started building it in the last few months.
I was at my friends place at the Tennison building and could see cranes and such.
The only thing I know is that it is to be 22 stories and the only reason it is being built at this time is because The Wortham actually bought into it so it would be built.

Water is great, but everything in moderation. Maybe danniepwils is active enough to swill one and a half gallons of water, but for most of us, that amount of water is not healthy. Believe it or not, there is such a thing as water poisoning. Most of us should not be drinking over half a gallon most days.
Very true. I think the reason I drink so much water is I am very active (sweat a lot)and eat more fiber than most. It is weird, most people think I drink to much, but I just listen to my body. At one time my doctor thought I was eating to much salt, (the reason why my body wanted more water), but that wasn't the case. He figured it was all the fiber I was eating. He said it is fine to drink that much water as I eat very well and also take vitamins. Too much water will flush out too many vitamins. And too much water to fast will make your kidneys work on overload.

Peanut butter (natural peanut butter, with only peanuts as the ingredients, maybe salt too depending on the brand) banana sandwich is my favorite. Peanut butter, whole GRAIN wheat bread, honey and of course the banana.
My snacks usually consist of a veggie, fruit and a protein everyday. Yes I eat chicken or tuna as a snack! I am weird! (Spinach and broccoli everyday for sure, but I mix it up every week)
Sweet Potato fries (homemade). I will either salt and pepper them, or sprinkle cinnamon and nutmeg on them if I feel like something sweeter.
Any and all types of nuts (Almonds, walnuts more so than anything)
Any and all types of berries (Blueberries, gojiberries and raspberries)
Greek Yogurt is pretty good, Cottage cheese with cinnamon and some berries...mmmm or cottage cheese and hot sauce
I basically eat nothing processed other than Triscuits (which aren't bad for you compared to chips, they only have a few ingredients). Triscuits with a little feta or ricotta cheese with fire roasted tomatoes and cucumbers on top are freaking awesome.
Homemade Protein bars:
Whey Protein (usually chocolate flavor), peanut butter, oats, honey, cinnamon, dried raisins and figs and a little milk mixed together, let it set in the fridge, and MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM good, nothing but good carbs, protein and fat (the good fat).
Yes I eat alot, basically around 4000 calories a day (6'3, 195 and am very active)
WATER WATER WATER!!! roughly 1.5 gallons a day for me.

Don't look now, but this thread is at risk of becoming complementary and optimistic toward HP. Stop it right now. We didn't have 237 pages of negativity in order to thow it all away because the office space got leased, House of Blues is booming, and Lucky Strike is actually going to open. Somebody throw in a downer of a post! Don't you know that "Lidz" didn't make it!!!!
I hear Metro is going to open up a souvenir shop at HP. That will be nice...(can't wait to get my very own Metro bus key chain that dispenses Mace)

I saw them working on some type of plumbing for the building this weekend. They had the entire right lane of Louisiana closed off near the building.

If you are talking about the food court under Commerce Tower's, it is open. There is one place in there (I forget what it is called, but it isn't a nationwide fast food chain restaurant). There are tables and such down there as well now.

I do it every year. It's aweseome. It's more polluted downstream, then up. The section through memorial park and river oaks would surprise you. Look in the photo section wehre I posted some photos a year ago. It's a cool trip.
I think this will link you...

Nice pics! I bike and run along the bayou all the time and have never seen an alligator (or is that a croc?), very cool!
(I was actually surprised to see a family of rabbits living near the bayou close to downtown)
-
Would it even be safe to kayak or canoe in Buffalo Bayou? I remember they tested the waters last year, and it wasn't very good. Infact it is one of the worse polluted bayous in Texas.
That reminds me. I was running along the bayou a few weeks ago and saw a man fishing. I did a double take to make sure I wasn't seeing things.

Does anyone know where I can find a floorplan for the new Y online? I know they have them displayed in the lobby of the current one, but was just curious if someone found it online.

with the city having to float >20million in bonds to meet their current retirement obligations, not sure a proposal such as yours would be achievable currently. there are still proposals out there to start charging for parking on sunday downtown according to a couple of business owners i know.
Why don't they charge for parking on Sundays? I mean they already do every other day of the week.

I saw the funniest thing just now at Discovery Tower...
My office faces the park and Discovery Tower. I happen to look up from my desk and out the window and I see two guys playing swords with 2x4's (I kind of chuckled wishing I was out there doing that too). Here is the kicker... they are on the 18th floor and very close to the edge (I am sure they were tethered to something, but damn).

What ever happened to the American Apparel or the development that was supposed to go up next to Josephine's across from House of Blues?
That is dead I think. Also you are a block off. This was to go up at the corner of Main and Dallas (across from XXI and Macy's.

I live here and would have to agree with the above. We did add a parking spot for each unit though. It's at the McKinney Place Garage, included with the monthly HOA, and there was even a reduction in the monthly fee. But without the guarantee of long term parking at a stabilized rate, resale will be tough. Oh and there's a lot less bums around. Not sure if they go somewhere for Winter, or if that round up HPD did a few months go is the reason.
Well that is some progress for getting people to move in I suppose.

Eh we all know what will happen, it will get filled with yet another Alonti, yet another Treebeard's and another kolache place.
LOL and a NINFA'S EXPRESS!

Wells Fargo Plaza has one on 34/35 and 54/55 (I think). If you take the elevators in the tunnel you will end up on the 34/54 floor. If you take the elevators on the street it will take you to the 35/55 floor.
-
So whats the deal with this place? They seem very tempting to me since I work in downtown. The prices are really cheap but is there a catch somewhere.
With no parking and very few building amenities the resale of these will be a pain. The location is amazing though (minus the bums).

Besides, I stated that DG is taking a majority of the park interest in downtown, regardless of what little park interest that might be. Which park downtown is busier than DG? Tranquility? Sam Houston? Root Memorial Square? No, these parks are all deserted most times, certainly moreso than DG. So yeah, DG is taking a majority of the existing park interest in downtown.
Are you not counting the homeless at Tranquility and Root Memorial jk

I presume you are referring to One Park Place??? That has never been planned as condos for sale, and has always been planned as a rental building. (And I haven't heard anybody refer to them as "bargain rates" ;-)With banks not lending for most new commercial projects, do anyone know if the rehab of the old Days Inn is still a go. And has anyone purchased the old Savoy Hotel. Both project would be a major lift to that end of downtown. I am aware that the luxury condo project across from Discovery Green is having such a hard time selling units that they have decided to rent them at bargain rates until the economy improves, which could spell trouble for all those other projects in the works downtown.
Actually they did start out as for sale, but I don't think they had enough people interested so now they are for rent. This happened well before all the harder financial situations happened with the banks and the economy though.
-
with Discovery Green sucking much of the park interest in downtown.
Not really. DG is empty most of the time during the day (other than when kids are out of school or there is an event there).
-
50th or 51st floor
-
I hope you are right.Don't worry; there'll be plenty of downtown residential development after the economy is back in swing. The trend is moving closer to downtown, not away from it. -
I have honestly never been inside the downtown Macy's yet. Is it even crowded ever?
Compared to the others, no. Also that Macy's doesn't have certain things that other Macy's has (Lacoste for one)
This last Red Apple sell was the only time I have ever seen it remotely crowded.

That map shows tunnels and skybridges. Have fun figuring that out

If I am looking at the site plan correctly, then most of the windows will be facing and be right on top of a parking garage for the apartments next door. Is this correct?
