The U.S. Department of Commerce released 2016 GDP by Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) on Wednesday, Sep. 20, 2017.
Dallas/Ft. Worth supplanted Houston/The Woodlands as the 4th largest economy in the United States in 2016, having advanced year-over-year by $18,558,000 billion dollars and at a very strong 3.8% growth rate.
In 2015 Dallas/Ft. Worth was in 6th place and this represents a jump of two positions in a single year ... simultaneously passing both Washington D.C. and Houston/The Woodlands ... that is unheard of and just demonstrates the enormous growth that is occurring in the Dallas region.
Houston/The Woodlands dropped to 6th place in 2016 from 4th in 2015, having contracted by $18,090,000 billion dollars and at a negative 3.6% year-over-year rate.
Houston/The Woodlands has now had negative GDP for three straight years.
