  1. I dont know if anyone else noticed this very clever inuendo by this dallas author, but the phrase "and possibly other ocean ports as well", attempts to downplay the fact that the port of houston is the main player here. Further, the article depicts ocean vessels entering the port of houston, where the containers are then "SHOT TO DALLAS". Thiese 3 words were carefully chosen by the author, because they imply that "as soon as" the ships are unloaded at houston's port, they are immediately taken away, as if to say, they have liitle buisiness here and are instead instantly, well, "shot", to DALLAS. Where "ALL" the action will take place.

The word "shot" carries alot of weight here, and it distills the essence of what the dallas marketering engine is trying to paint as this so called Port of Dallas.

    It's so clear, isnt it....

I'm also starting to think you've got some real issues to deal with , 2112.

  2. It appears to me that the construction shown in that picture would be for the parking structure (which will also have retail space on the street level). At least according to the plans shown on Victory's website, the tower would be to the the north what is shown in that picture. I could easily be wrong on this, but I don't think I have seen ANY pictures of any construction activity on the north end of the site (where the Tower will be, along Olive Street). All of the pictures I have seen are shot at an angle excluding the north end of the site, and only getting that portion of the site basically across Victory Park Lane from the shorter, south portion of the W, and that area, of course, is where the parking garae is going, not the Tower.

Actually, it looks like you are correct.

It doesn't appear that work on the tower proper has not begun yet.

  3. ...I was set to be seriously envious too when I first started seeing the renderings on the Victory website, but as the buildings have been built and we've started to see pictures on this and other website, all jealousy has vanished. Perhaps it looks a LOT better in person, but in the pictures I've seen it looks pretty underwhelming, generic, and suburban-esque...

As Rantanamo noted above "...Victory Park is not even close to finishing its first phase and its already looking like something great. Just give it time. Barely anything is open there. It will be an interesting couple of years as opening after opening happens over that time."

Perhaps you should reserve judgment until the project comes closer to completion.

  4. The stadium couldn't have anything less to do with Dallas.

Perhaps, if you're talking about the municipality called "Dallas". But, that narrow viewpoint is fairly meaningless.

The Dallas Cowboys stadium in Arlington has everything to do with GREATER DALLAS.

Also known as the Metroplex or the Dallas-Ft.Worth-Arlington Metropolitan Area.

    Nice try, though.

  5. TexasStar, your a snotty little ____ who has nothing better to do than take obvious jabs at Houston. There was was nothing innocent about this thread, in fact it's pretty offensive. I can't remember any Houston poster starting a thread like this, in fact there's a very complimentary thread that was just posted about Dallas by a Houstonian.

Go back to Skyscraper City, and quit polluting our website. :angry2::angry2::angry2:

Gary, you're are a stinking hypocrite. I couldn't begin to list the obvious jabs at Dallas that have been taken on this board.

And no, I'm not going anywhere. As long as you slimy jerk offs think it's OK to trash Dallas, be prepared to get a little of the same right back at you.

Yep, you're right. But you're still a troll.

    I know I'm right.

And you can call me whatever blows up your skirt.

  6. Some of you Houstonians crack me up. You can post any derogatory thing you'd like about Dallas and that's OK. But if you see ONE little innocent jibe at the Big H and you bust a gasket.

You're always telling us to lighten up. Well, try to take some of your own medicine for a change.

Houston1stword, we all know Charlotte is the headquarters city for BankofAmerica and Wachovia.

But, a list showing where the deposits are actually located doesn't care where the banks are headquartered.

  7. From today's Dallas Morning News...

Preliminary statistics show that Dallas logged 187 murders last year, down about 5.6 percent from the 198 reported in 2005. In that year, murders were down 19 percent from 2004.

According to Police Chief Kunkle, "We're very pleased," he said. "The growing trend nationally is an increase in homicides. Most of the cities you see with reductions this year didn't have reductions last year. We're unique."

Chief Kunkle said the crime rate continues to improve because the department has made efforts to more accurately target hot spots of drug, gun and gang crimes. He also credited a good local economy and an improving working relationship between police and the community.

According to the department's crime analysis team:
