In other words, why haven't these businesses that helped form this community you decided to move to been run off despite our best efforts to finish gentrifying the area?
Interesting going after a 10 year old post.
Unfortunately samiamj's profile says that he hasn't visited the forum in 7 years, so you may not get a reply.

Ill bet you anything the Mumbai route will be confirmed.
Also IAH-MDE is another route that is being discussed.
I'm not that confident against your confidence, but again, I would be gobsmacked if it was UA that launches BOM.
MDE is a no-brainer. Definitely can see that being launched when MAX planes come back.

"Spring 2023"
From what I understand, that's as far back as they could push it and still keep it on as being planned.
It's really going to be up to Abbie Kamin to push for this project and I don't know how strongly she feels about this.

Will this be the first 7-11 in Houston? On 1/8/2020 at 5:53 AM, Mattie said:No, they just built one on Bay Area in Clear Lake. Not sure if it’s open yet
There is one at Townsen/1960 in Humble that's a new build that has looked 48 hours away from opening for almost a month. I wonder if they'll open a la Kohl's with a bunch of locations at once. No 7/11 signage up, but that's basically the only thing that's missing.

United is buulding a 350 million dollar bag room and plan on adding 150 flights in 2 years. Iah to mumbai and iah to lagos is all but guaranteed.
Do you mean 150 flights/week or per day? 150/day would be an insane increase. 150/week is still an increase, but not a ton.
3 minutes ago, asubrt said:Hate to be that guy, but... source?? This seems extremely hard to believe given United's complete disregard for IAH in the past few years. Every other hub has gotten multiple new international routes and domestic routes, while we've gotten... Spokane and Ontario?? Don't get me wrong, I would be ecstatic if this happened and hopefully you have some awesome insider info, but I'll believe it when I see it.
I think part of it is additional planes coming online. Looking at summer now for MAX to come back.
These new CRJ's with lots of biz are for EWR and ORD.
I think there's a 0% chance UA launches Mumbai, but Air India certainly might.
There's a much better chance of Lagos coming back.

Looks like another apartment called "The Exchange" will be starting soon.

They finished building the median on Alabama to block through traffic on Hutchins a few days ago. The number of cars using Hutchins has gone way down...so much better now.
Saw them finishing it up on Sunday and it looked good. Was very much needed!

I mean.... the only world I can think of to go Galveston instead of the med center is if you had a fat offer for your land.

It's interesting how much pain this railroad causes in the area.
I wonder if there is any chance of Summer St being connected?
It's getting a light at Studemont right now, so that would add a significantly different option for Target shoppers to escape the area.

Gotta keep it 58 stories so you can see over all of the new 40 story buildings in Midtown to get those sweet downtown views, amirite?

Holy isssssshhhh I've been traveling and somehow missed the updates here.
This is so insane!
What a perfect spot for this. I was railing about this area on twitter back in August because there is so little housing here and it's a perfect spot.
I was excited to see some parking lot infill a la something like this with the parking restrictions dropped and was imagining a bunch of those in the area near mongoose vs cobra.
These are the cheapest available housing for sale in the area at the time and there is basically nothing within blocks:
(Note, the star is MvC)
Yes, there are apartments/rentals and that is what this project would be as well, but still, so much opportunity for housing development right here.
Very exciting stuff!

Since Broadway was just recently rebuilt, Metro doesn't want to go back in and tear it up again.
It wasn't Metro that said that. They got told that by the city and county even though it makes light years more sense to run it down Broadway.
I'm not against the Telephone combined plan though, especially with a new combined car rental center possible coming.

There are two proposed lines....
1) one extending from the line now ending at Palm Center, and
2) one extending from the end of the current "Harrisburg Line" which turns into Broadway
Of the two, the Palm Center line would be the shorter of the two, but is more problematic construction wise and would probably require more land acquisitions. The Harrisburg extension is longer but is relatively straightforward construction wise besides serving an area that is starting to show signs of redevelopment (hopefully a rail line here will advance that activity).
I don't believe this is still the case. They are planning on doing a combined line to save $700 million

We are already seeing the signs of new redevelopment along the future light rail line route to Hobby airport ..... this section of Broadway from I-45 to Hobby will have an amazing transformation over the next decade
Wait, really?!? Along Telephone?

Especially one contingent upon federal matching funds with an unknown starting date.

Kind of an asshole move with how they have the sidewalk blocked on both sides. Was walking to Tacos a Go Go the other night and came across this:
Oh, I guess I'll have to cross the street.
Cool.
So you have to walk west a block and cross the Travis highway without a painted crosswalk or walk back up to Elgin and go around.
Don't think crap like this flies in most cities.

First, really good pics and thanks for sharing!\
Second, there's actually a thread in the Downtown forum since we still don't know what is going to go up.
A mod will probably roll this thread into that one.

Got an email that they have update the listing on their crowdsourcing with this:
QuoteClosing on the Land: Guefen Development is excited to announce that they officially closed on the land on Dec. 2, 2019. This has eliminated the acquisition risk for this project. Guefen has agreed to allow CrowdStreet investors to backfill additional equity up to a total of $15 million. Offers are due Dec. 16, 2019.

Oh I'm well aware of the crazy speeds people drive on Hutchins as I live near Alabama and Hutchins. There has been several bad wrecks at Hutchins and Alabama with people using Hutchins as an interstate bypass. Will be a slight annoyance for me to get on 69 but I'm looking forward the new bike lane and slower street traffic.
I hope your neighbors feel the same way!
After watching drama about the Gray St bikelane on Nextdoor (at least portion in Midtown) I never really understood why people that live on or near that street would rather have more car throughput that's only utilized at rush hour instead of having street calming measures to slow down people that drive like crazy when traffic is low.

The Heights Information & Developments

If you aren't familiar with the history of the Heights, it's pretty interesting https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Houston_Heights#History
I'm definitely sad at seeing the old homes gone, but I'm not sure if any of the business along the Shepherd corridor qualify for me.
