  1. I dont know if they will ever build a 100 story but I would like a new tallest or at least another 700ftr+. Not everything is built in Plano. If you really just got back from Dallas then you'd know there are cranes up in Uptown. I agree with you on the Trinity. Im still new at analyzing development but it looks like when they rerouted the Trinity because of flooding it screwed it all up. I know the Trinity is no Mississippi River but it can look great. Just look how pretty and sensible Ft. Worth's section of it looks. It one thing Im kinda jealous of: The Dallas section does look pretty cool when it's flooded though (if you ignore the trees sticking out) It shows the potential of what it could look like if they had some sort of controllable dam system. I agree with you rich, poor division is NOT good. I think Houston has a good mix and that gives the city life. Its one thing about Dallas I don't like. Klyde Warren Park between downtown and uptown has been a hit though and looks fantastic. Earlier I was screwing with you about Ross Perot. He is not involved (not openly anyway) in any development. Its his SON Ross Perot Jr. and his company Hillwood.
  2. Hey what you are saying is racist against little people. LP's do have opinions on what they like. If they want a 4.5ft ceiling then they should have it. Please read the terms and conditions of this website to prevent further offense.
  3. Ross is building the building for Dell but it will be in the shape of Ross Perot....as a lasting legacy for Dallas. Ross' belt buckle will have the Dell logo.
  4. You make it look pretty Sic'em. Just a couple of tweaks though: 1. Katy Station is 30 floors 2. Skyhouse 2 is 25 floors 3. One Uptown is 20 floors Soon to be under construction: The Union is 31 & 22 stores.
  5. ^Yea, what he said Wish they would combine those twins! Ugh...lol
  6. Man you people are ruthless. Anyways, I just copied and pasted that list from wherever and didn't focus on the details. I, actually never heard of JP Morgan doing anything so it wasn't a topic I'd discussed. Besides that list I never saw it mentioned on SSC.
  7. I dunno. I don't control the money. All I know is that there's a crap load of short towers going up.. If I controlled the money I would have taken the money for 5 of those shorties and built something big. There are still proposals though. One may surprise us someday. Even without a skyscraper the uptown skyline IS changing and that's exciting. The core is starting to take a Boston or Seattle type look to it and I like it.
  8. ?????? I've never heard of JP Morgan promising to build a skyscraper downtown. When did you hear that?
  9. Construction will start next week on Trammell Crow's 2 tower Uptown project. 34 story residential and 20 story office. http://www.dallasnews.com/business/commercial-real-estate/headlines/20160106-accounting-firm-pwc-to-move-from-downtown-to-anchor-new-uptown-tower-complex.ece
  10. Still alive! I bet you thought I was taken up in the tornado. Seriously it was crazy. The news channels were showing like 5 tornadoes and the National Weather Service or whatever actually interrupted the news. It was that serious. We were in the path. I was in NE Dallas. It missed us but went east to Garland,Wylie and Rowlett. We had an aunt on the road in that area. She turned around and came to spend a night with us. I saw the damage in Rowlett where my cousin lives. Her house was not touched but 2 streets over it was demolished. Apartment bldgs too. I've never seen that in person. I would like to see a tornado from far far away like those stormchasers but not any closer.
  11. I knew the time was coming. I made a Suburban/Exurban thread. )
  12. The DFW is blowing up so to keep things organized this thread will be for anything in the DFW area outside the Dallas or Fort Worth city limits. Feel free to add.
  13. Thanks for replying. You were the author of that list? Cool. I posted an earlier version of the same list on the Development thread a few months back. Yes the core is looking amazing. Unfortunately some of those big boy towers are having to jump through some hoops. The buzzkilling FAA denied the 2 1080ft Hi-Forum monsters citing that only something 378ft or whatever can be built in that spot. But Im sure Harwood is not going to give up easily. Hell, 600-700 footers would look amazing right there. I could live with that. All the towers Saremsacki (Turkish dude) has proposed so far havent gained any traction as far as I know but you never know. The best bet is Perot/Hillwood for a true skyscraper. He just need tenants. I think his design is a little bland but I could live with it as long as it's substantial. Even without the big towers the city is really staring to look great. Not to mention all the planned stuff outside of the core. EDIT: Watch out for Craig Hall. He 's another hope for a true skyscraper. As you know he has plans already.

  15. https://www.flickr.com/photos/m877/20832610785/ With a 30, 33 and 34 story U/C and a 31 proposed as well as all the other 25 stories and under U/C this view is gonna look great in a year or so.
  16. Sic 'em Bears is here! Woohoo. Welcome! This is the guy with the most info.
  17. ^Thanks Mr H. There are some other cranes up including Bleu Ciel which I'm trying to find. There's also lots of midrise apts going up everywhere, even in NE Dallas. Also a few new projects I haven't put here. Feel free to keep 'em coming.

  19. That bldg has grown on me a little, even before I knew about its troubles. I love black glass but could also imagine it with updated sliver glass and it would still look very unique because of its design. If only they didn't use asbestos from the beginning it wouldn't of had to go through all this crap. At 52 stories and 625ft its a bldg way too big to be abandoned or even demoed. I'll check out that 800 Bell reno. More crane pics tomorrow!
  20. Great news for asbestos filled 1401 Elm. Barely dodged the foreclosure bullet. Lenders didn’t make good on their threat to foreclose on one of downtown Dallas’ largest buildings. The 52-story former First National Bank tower at 1401 Elm Streets was scheduled for foreclosure this week by lenders seeking repayment of $53.5 million in debt. The building wound up in default after a $240 million redevelopment plan for the 50-year-old skyscraper hit a snag. New York-based Olympic Property Partners is withdrawing from the project after more than two years of planning. http://bizbeatblog.dallasnews.com/2015/12/downtown-dallas-tower-dodges-threatened-foreclosure.html/ Jack Gosnell: 1401 Elm, itself, isn’t iffy; it’s still magnificent. The reason it’s staggering a little bit is because of the mammoth undertaking of it all with 120k SF of retail, 500 apartments and 900 parking spaces. It’s an immense load to get to market. I don’t think it’s an indication of anything negative having to do with the economy. Think about the retail Downtown like an archaeological dig. It’s progressively built on the bones of people before you. Just getting the building ready for development was an achievement by Olympic. Remediating asbestos and getting it ready is a huge leap for the next investor to step in. There’s been tremendous retail interest in that project, and I think that’s going to be a tale that will tell itself when it finally hits the market. It’s the only building in Downtown Dallas that can house large-scale retailers over 30k SF. There’s hot pursuit of the property by several development companies. Everyone recognizes it’s a one-of-a-kind project in Dallas and probably the last great undeveloped building there, so I think it’s a matter of time before someone steps in. We’d love to keep working on it; we’re so vested already. https://www.bisnow.com/dallas-ft-worth/news/retail/qa-with-jack-gosnell-1401-elm-farmers-market-dominating-downtown-53147
  21. Overall yes there is a height limit but it doesnt cover all of Uptown as some bldgs are over 30 stories. Some areas stay a squatty ~20 stories making it look like one giant shelf. It does vary though on the far west and east of Uptown. 32story W Hotel, 42story cityplace respectively..with a few 30+ approved.
  22. Some cranes for Kitty! Courtesy of desertpunk... Little Rolex The Ascent-23 story Perot-HQ Mckinney/Olive almost topped out
  23. Horrible tragedy. Not much anyone can do if someone wants to commit suicide.
  24. Vacant site to be developed into hotel. Sounds great. Hopefully something with some height. http://bizbeatblog.dallasnews.com/2015/11/old-tv-station-building-bought-for-hotel-project.html/
  25. That's the bathroom. It make sure it go into the lake pure.
