Thanks for that musicman. If true, I will definitely try to get pics since I believe I am off that day. Hopefully I am not on campus during that time.

Is the sign facing Main or Travis? If it is Main, it is the same sign that has been there for the past 2 years. I saw a sign on the opposite side of the lot while taking the rail this morning, but I did not see if it was a Camden sign.

That rendering has been there for a while. They also have a website: http://binzmedcorp.com/

Sounds dreamy. Funny it will cost more than the Egineering complex.

Anyone know what is going on or in under the garage on the block north of Cava Bistro?
-
I just thought it was a cinch to find if you google the name.
-
Where did you find that image and description?
Robert M. Swedroe is the achitect. Check the website.

So these two towers will not be on the same lot, but across the street from each other?

Banal, uninspired, yet in keeping with the recent additions to our skyline! Seriously, why couldn't we get some steel and glass for God's sake??? Tunnel form crap is all this is....
If you know Turnberry, there was no reason to be so anticipated to know what the design would look like.

I love the Turnberry Beach house in Miami. Those are the type of designs that will make me take a midrise before a highrise anyday, but they stuck with their "signature" style this time for Houston.

but right across the street from what I consider to be a rather bland Cesar Pelli.
To be honest I thought the same thing for a while but it does grow on you in a good way. I think the interior side of the building, not the inside but the courtyard area, is more appreciated than what you see from Cullen or Entrance 14. The simple curve and the small fins on the building that you can see from Cullen are appreciated. I think it looks better at night though.
That said the new library is a building that will age well in my opinion. Similar to E. Cullen.

That is indeed tragic but you cannot help but to think "preventable". Not that this situation in the news has anything to do with it but in general I think some people have mental issues when they cannot control their public confrontations and amplify their conflict by not being able to shut up. That's just suicide nowadays. Most of the time, it's a power struggle because some one is afraid to look like they lost the argument. In the end they both look like assholes. Although I am sure there are some extreme cases where people are shot for actually being the bigger person.

I sort of know that area I guess. That's my "shortcut" from the UC to the Satellite. Although I do not remember it being too open.
-
There are a lot of old buildings in the vicinity of Texaco, but what is the building with the construction crater on the northwest end of the block? I cannot remember if I was walking by the Texaco building or something else.
-
I admit I have never stepped a toe on this side of campus so I am not that familiar with how the building lies. Is this close to the Satellite?
-
That area is all out of whack now bordering the construction site. The street is the sidewalk now. You might catch me struggling to walk on the sidewalks in that area since I am always at my brother's place. As far as traffic, too many alternatives to get to this place. Hopefully that reflects with the construction and parking is not a HUGE priority. By the way topics can probably be merged with original.

Are you all sure about the Mosaic. I am not the person that really cares about height but it looks like they are starting on another floor. Right now it definitely looks stubby.

UofH could easily become my favorite part of the city if it keeps these cutting edge designs up with its 20 year plan. The development is progressing quickly and it should be interesting to keep an eye on it as I grow old.

Great post. Love the views.

It seems like they are on schedule. Th three lots will be closed at the end of today.
-
I think this project is a go. Several of the employees my mom works with park in those three lots. She received an email today that they can no longer park there and will have to look for alternative parking.

wait until RO gets a wind of it!
I was thinking the same thing. Kirby is a hell of a lot more narrow than Richmond and Kirby through RO wouldn't have it. Probably even on Shepherd which is too narrow also.
-
It would be nice if something hit the Village. PT sucks out there and there is only one "quick" bus. I say they need to start another line coming from that rail yard at the Fannin South Station and hit Kirby to the Village and try to make its way up Shepherd to Washington to hit the Intermodal Transit Center on the Near Northside.

Texas A&M undergrads are 79% white, 3% black.
TSU is 85% black, 2% white. (based on total enrollment...couldn't find stats for undergrads only).
To be fair I think that is kind of p.c. I think the comment was just based in ignorance as far as "black schools". It is also very p.c. to wonder why the black population is so high and why there are not that many whites. It is the same for almost every HBCU. If one answered their own question "Why?" they would see it is not TSU's fault as far as diversity.

The population explosion in Brazoria County has made rush hour traffic on highway 288 bumper to bumper.
There could be some relief in sight in the form of a toll road, but it
