  1. In regards to downtown awareness, I think our downtown leaders are kind of like a fish in the water. They're so used to the water they don't realize it's there anymore.

Okay, corny analogy, but the reason I think that is they need to market themselves and they don't.

They must think everyone in Houston knows about downtown and what it has to offer, but that is far from the truth. Having a website is not marketing.

I just spoke with a colleague that lives on Bagby in midtown and he didn't even know downtown had places to live. That's not his fault. He probably thinks that because he went there on a weekend and he said nobody was there. He has been to discovery green but didn't know the name of it and he didn't know Market Square existed. He has been to the House of Blues but didn't know it was in Greenstreet.

Spring Branch has a few billboards, why doesn't downtown? Why not make commercials or give incentives for downtown businesses to make them? Although people live near or drive by downtown often, they don't know much about it.

Simply, they need to be more aggressive in educating people about downtown. Don't sit back and wait for the Chronicle to write an article.

    Totally agree

  2. I think Montrose will always retain its edgy/bohemian vibe....but its getting more and more gentrified...which is good too because its gonna clean up some of the ghetto parts....All in All I think even with all of whats going on there it will still always be one of the most popular neighborhoods for Hipsters and Yuppies....

  3. Once again, Elseed, development follows demand. Demand for residential development seems to lead in the inner loop. On the other hand, commercial demand seems to be focused on the EC, SL and the Woodlands. Deal with it. As everyone knows, I am proud of HTown for many reasons; one being that when those who don't KNOW Houston arrive via i45 or I10 or I59 from the south will probably scratch their heads wondering how many DTs does this city actually have?! I love it. And honestly, I believe HTown is becoming more realistic and relevant when it comes to creating several CBDs, because when a city becomes two to three hours wide (which I believe it will be by 2030) having just one CBD isn't practical.

And once again Marcus Allen, I understand development follows demand....There is both commercial and residential development happening in the Loop deal with it .....but I think most people would like all the buildings to be centralized....although I know its probably not gonna happen it doesn't mean I'm gonna change my opinion...so deal with it  Marcus Allen

  4. you might as well say you hate jobs and economic prosperity.

hard to imagine we don't have an ignore function on this board.

Awwwww looks like someones panties are in a bunch!! That's a  pretty dumb generalization...OK so then if you like the Energy Corridor then you must love Houstons sprawl the traffic it creates and you must hate urban density ....sound pretty stupid right?....yeah that's how you sound like cupcake....Oh yeah.....I HATE THE ENERGY CORRIDOR
