I can't help but think of this side of downtown as being the back side of downtown. Ever since the GRBCC was constructed and its long back side faced the elevated freeway, that's the ultimate impression I get. I feel as though that stops high-rise development from happening on that side. I guess when you have a front side (northwestern side), that's what you'll end up with. Just a thought.

From what I've seen in the webcam today, looks like they're pouring a thin layer of concrete forming the perimeter of the tower, and a line of dump trucks is still there past 10 pm.

I would say one Skyhouse is enough, not something I want to see made a replica of. I'm praying we move onto better things.

Market Square Tower: 40-Story High-Rise At 777 Preston St.

That is one big garage, front and center. Like Metro West said earlier, I wish One Market Square (International Tower) would trade places with this one. Either that or One Market Square needs to be 50 stories high again.- 1,894 replies

Market Square Tower: 40-Story High-Rise At 777 Preston St.

I kept quiet. I'll only say that I'm glad we now have a 3D rendering of the tower. I wish that it was smaller or more centralized within downtown so that it can be hidden by surrounding towers. I definitely hate that existing massive garage which was excluded from the rendering.- 1,894 replies

Thank you Houston Astros and Oilers for bringing this stadium up, and now down.

I noticed the same thing, probably the floors that are vacant at the moment.

Reminds me of the proposed two tower project for downtown Dallas, and the Salesforce Tower in San Francisco like someone mentioned earlier.

I hear you, but it's already been redesigned and it's been on hold for many years. Let's be done with it and build it already.

I believe each building should have its own parking garage, and virtually all do. I would say most building tenants want it that way too.
-
Does anyone know who made these renderings? I checked the Ziegler Cooper website and I don't see them. I'm not a fan of these renderings, but love the one's that the architecture firm has on their website. I guess these were made at a moment's notice.

Yes, you've been gone way too long. It's a zoo, built for your amusement, not the animals. Just kidding. Seriously though, sure it would be nice if they have more space, but what you're suggesting cost money. If private funds can be gathered to buy lot's of acreage so the animals are free to roam, and if private funds will maintain the land & facilities, that's fine. But I for one will not approve of any public funds going into such a project. So that's where it ends. So to recap, don't give the city any ideas like this, it's a bad idea, they'll run up the cost like crazy and use this as an excuse to raise taxes. Leave it up to individuals to fund and own.

I, as a voter, will vote (again) no on any project asking for tax dollars to be spent on this structure. I think that's what the "No" vote was mainly about.
-
So we're not talking about a full implosion of the entire building? The garage will be left intact?
