  1. is that the little square above the D on the main street side? I just walked past (that place stinks almost as bad on the outside as the inside!! WHO eats that chicken???)

the ornamental concrete is indeed back there...I wonder what shape it is in...

Now is this the one across the street fom Foley's ? If it is....this place has diffinately changed. I ate the chicken there once back in the 80s the problem with the chicken now is that it's probably the same chicken

    post 100!

  2. I walk by about every day for lunch. There was a spray-painted sign a couple weeks ago saying "Construction starts 5/28/06". There were some people who parked down at the bayou for free. Now the gates are closed and today there was a bulldozer and a backhoe there parked at at the bottom of the bayou (almost under the bridge). Maybe it is unrelated utilities being run or something. But here's to hoping!

    Cheers!

I saw the backhoe I thought it was for the next phase of the bayou walk. I'll look at the pics and see if I see the sign, was it up front?

  3. Fantastic.. they're finally doing something with this site.

I don't know about that. So far it still looks like wishful thinking. I was down there yesterday and the "for sale" sign is still up and look at the original thread it started about a year ago with no hard references. I think a 24hr coffee shop would be nice there with bookstore of course....the canoe rental could be based out from under the Main St. bridge

  4. Usually it's because no one from the area has bought a franchise yet. These companies are eager to expand into all sorts of new areas, but usually can't (or won't) do anything until someone decides to take on the task. If you're looking for a career change, it could be a good opportunity. From what I've read, new franchisees tend to get a lot of help from the company setting up.

I thought Starbucks didn't franchise....so it said on there site a couple years ago. That's why I bought some stock, I haven't really kept up with the company

  5. How come there is no Starbucks in the Northline area or in the mid to lower income level areas? Everyperson, regarding of income likes coffee.

Yeah but not everyone regardless of income is willing to shell out X amount for a cup of coffee when you can get your cup from home or a corner store for much cheaper. Starbucks caters to where the starbucks drinkers are or could be if there is a need there will be.

  6. It's a soccer team name GET OVER IT!!!!!!

I think all this BOOO HOOO crap about why the name was changed is just that Crap.

Everyone getting all emotional about A NAME! Where are your prioities... IT WAS A CRAP NAME y'all and the media should stop using a group as a scape goat. I think that everyone jumping on the bash the minority bandwagon are just using this topic to expose the truth. That they are just Eurocentric, intolerate bigots.

    PERIOD.

If this applies to you GET A LIFE

  7. I don't really care if anyone believes me. I was just trying to add what i was told to the conversation.

I think what HII was getting at was. People on this forum try to post legitimate information and try to discuss it in a mature manner. Information is usually from a credible source. If some one's not sure or thinks it's just hearsay that person would say so and some one will try to confirm or dismiss it. I believe he was trying to get you to elaborate on your "little birdie" to cut down on hearsay and gossip.

  8. Here's an update in the chronicle

The new building's facade combines the sleek style of glass skyscrapers with the bulkier style of stone buildings capped by arched roofs and ornamental designs.

I sure like this building not your normal run of the mill glass building

I can't wait for that plaza to be built. According to the article it's still a go.

  9. I agree with 'Coog. I was at the Virgin flagship store in London last month and it was pretty lame. The one in Chicago is pretty lame, too. From what I remember, the New Orleans one wasn't all that great, either.

I'm not terribly impressed by any of the big chain music stores these days. They seem to be caught between two worlds and not sure how to relate to either the kids or to people with money to spend.

    Yeah, I agree.

I stopped by th Virgin Mega store in London just for those of y'all that keep on brining it up.

It really wasn't all that. If the pavillions gets one cool, if not no big loss
