One of the restaurants opening in the Eden-owned Uptown Park in Houston is Flower Child (source: Facebook group and this construction bid posted last week). Eater Houston reported in October the Fox Restaurant Concepts Flower Child would open in Houston. No location was reported at the time the article was published. From Eater: Flower Child, a healthy restaurant chain that’s owned by the same company as North Italia, has plans to bring its hippie-approved wares to Houston. The fledgling chain from Fox Restaurant Concepts (North Italia, True Food Kitchen) announced that it was heading to Houston (among other cities) in a press release, but no specific plans for a location or opening timeline have been made public just yet. Here is where Flower Child will be located in Uptown Park. The address is 1101-06 Uptown Park Blvd, replacing clothing store BB1 Classic. https://edens.com/centers/TX/Houston/Uptown-Park

From Eater Houston on one of the tenants for 1818 Washington Ave. The Houston Chronicle hinted at Fry’s plans for a restaurant housed in a new development at 1818 Washington Avenue, describing the building’s first tenant as an “Atlanta-based celebrity chef” and the restaurant as a “New American seafood concept,” but didn’t name him. What really connects Fry to this project is a limited liability corporation formed in 2017 by Ford Fry Restaurants partner and chief financial officer Daniel Van Loh called “Washington Avenue Fish Camp,” though it’s unclear what exactly the restaurant would be named just yet. Van Loh was also responsible for registering the limited liability corporations formed to open Superica and La Lucha, Fry’s new-to-Houston restaurants that are set to open in the Heights in mid-September. If the “Fish Camp” project comes to fruition, Fry would then own four restaurants in Houston — Superica, La Lucha, State of Grace, and this as-yet-unnamed eatery. It’s possible that it could be an outpost of The Optimist, Fry’s Downtown Atlanta seafood restaurant that promises a “seaside fish camp experience” and dishes like whole-roasted trout, raw oysters, and lobster rolls. https://houston.eater.com/2018/9/4/17816932/ford-fry-new-seafood-restaurant-1818-washington-avenue
  3. Good catch @ljchou! So, this Lovett Commercial development will be named Coogs Crossing. It will also be a multifamily residential with retail pads lining a portion of it. Since this is expected to become student housing, I can see the need for a Chick-fil-A and 7-Eleven here. That Chick-fil-A will be more convenient than the one on South Wayside and the Gulf Freeway, plus the one on the campus of University of Houston. Also the density from the apartments, UH and the surrounding neighborhoods can support a Chick-fil-A. Outside of Texas Southern University and University of Houston, I don't think there's a freestanding Chick-fil-A in Third Ward. With this one planned right on the Third Ward boundary, this will serve the Third Ward and Riverside Terrance communities and those residing in the East End closer to downtown. The 50,000-square-foot property will have a courtyard and rooftop terraces overlooking the downtown skyline. 15. Lovett Commercial recently created a listing for 1505 Oliver St, the site of former warehouse for Custom Homeworks. The property was purchased in 2017 ( I think ). It's been marked in previous marketing materials for other Lovett projects as a possible redevelopment, but there was never a listing or any other details online for 1505 Oliver until recently. Within the last month or so (possibly mid October to early November), Lovett Commercial updated its website to include plans for 1505 Oliver St. https://www.lovettcommercial.com/properties/houston/1505-oliver-st- (archive link) This is part of the Dock High District (I think) within the Sawyer Yards. The property sits next to Lovett's other development at 1201 Oliver St (thread about that here - the thread was in the Other Neighborhood forum where I created it, but mods move it to the Heights forum though it is not part of the Heights area.) But a few months later, AmREIT was purchased by South Carolina-based Edens Investment Trust, and any changes to Uptown Park were tabled. Until now. Starting in 2018, Edens will begin a multiphase renovation of the 168,626 square feet of retail space comprised in the district, said Tom Kiler, managing director at Edens. The company won't be breaking ground on any vertical development anytime soon, Kiler said, though Edens hopes to eventually add either a hospitality, office or multifamily development to Uptown Park. In this phase of the redevelopment, front-facing facades of existing retailers will be modernized and simplified. Towering live oaks will be transferred and transplanted into shade-scarce parts of Uptown Park. To better connect the project's buildings to one another, small kiosks and green gathering areas will be installed throughout the development. New tenants coming to Uptown Park: Another restaurant will be added to Uptown Park, Kiler said, and ideally one that would cater to Houston's on-the-run lunch and dinner crowd. The company's currently in discussions for a "best-in-class" restaurant to fill the space vacated by Anejo last year and an entertainment concept to fill the vacated Champps sports bar space. Kiler predicts Uptown Park will gain a vertical project in the next development cycle, but isn't sure what kind of development it'll be. Edens is a longterm holder and isn't planning to sell Uptown Park. Any new hotel, office building or multifamily development wouldn't replace any existing retail, Kiler said. The company's currently in negotiations with at least one prospective tenant for any of the project's empty retail spaces – by October 2018, Kiler said the project should be 100 percent leased and well on its way to being 100 percent open for business.

  23. Houston Catering Company (Bagel Shop Bakery, New York Deli & Coffee Shop) announced the relocation of its catering operations from 219 Westheimer in Montrose to a new development in Bellaire (thread about it here). The move will probably take place around spring or summer of 2020, depending on the buildout progress. Houston Catering Company owns the property at 219 Westheimer. The news reported in CultureMap doesn't include if HCC will open a new concept at 219 Westheimer or put the property on the market. From CultureMap Houston yesterday: Saghian and his partners, Shaun Leva and bagel shop co-founder Ed Gavrila, have purchased a former drug store/pawn shop at 5422 Bellaire Blvd that will allow them to expand all of their current businesses: Houston Catering Concepts, New York Deli & Coffee Shop, and the Bagel Shop Bakery. Currently, the partners expect to move the catering business from its current home on lower Westheimer to the new facility some time in the second quarter of 2020. http://houston.culturemap.com/news/restaurants-bars/11-06-19-ny-deli-coffee-shop-bagel-shop-bakery-second-location-city-of-bellaire-michael-saghian-shaun-leva-ed-gavrila/
  24. In the last 10 years or so, the two story house sitting on the property of 219 Westheimer has been restaurant Feast ( thread about it in the dining forum), Georges Bistro, and the catering hub for Houston Catering Concepts. The property changed hands twice after George Guy sold Georges Bistro. A restaurant group purchased the property and continued to operate a lesser quality of Georges Bistro and then renamed it to something else (can't recall). Later, the property was sold to the owners of Houston Catering Company (Bagel Shop Bakery, New York Deli & Coffee Shop).
