Are all those offices really necessary for the Marriot construction? Legit question
They are. Many companies are contracted by a developer and the office space is needed. They probably do onsite orientation too for new workers who need to be badged.

If the demand was there then they would be taller. Houston is densifying but the growth is still spread out through numerous neighborhoods.
-
Of course not. I only drive by it daily.
It's overgrown around the edges where the light is. Yes, between White Oak and the bayou is nice; the other side, less so.
I think this is more than sufficient for its intended purposes.
The only area without grass is towards the end of the bridge.
-
Isn't it green under those bridges right now?
The whole area under the bridge is pretty overgrown when not maintained. Towards the end of the bridge is the only section that prob does not have much grass. I don't know what the other poster is taking about.

Lol seriously. I said it was on 38, kbates said it was on 36.. It's really on 37. Hence, we were both wrong.. Ah well. No point derailing this thread with pointing fingers.
He said 36 based on the old pic which was correct.

I don't even feel comfortable walking over the bridge on Studewood. It's too narrow. You have to walk in a single file line if you're with others. I am not even convinced it's meant to be walked on but I guess it's a Houston thing.

I think this building will age nicely even though it doesn't match the charm of the original.
-
I'm sure the neighbors will miss this.

It looks like they are on the 36th floor to me.

This place is def vacant now.

They know the signs are not there anymore. That's what the conversation was about but cool pic nevertheless.

Dairy Land was bought out a few years ago and the new owners had plans to open a new restaurant. They decided to stick with Dairy Land but are constructing a new building. The old building will be demolished.

This was from last week. It's above the big house.

Settling for paintball, which I love, is just selling the place short. A place that aesthetically appealing deserves more respect than that.

It is exciting that we are seeing another rendering...
Last I heard, TEMA was saying that (back in November?) that there was nothing happening anytime soon... So this hopefully means that there is somewhat of a timetable. Urbannizer - What do you know?
The picture is probably old though. Looks virtually the same as the rendering on page three.
-
How many floors is that? It looks to me about 20-25.
I'm counting like 15.

Hold on, so we have an idea of whats going here?

good grief... hyperbole much? maybe you'll get lucky and go blind before it is completely that way you don't have to be bothered by this "eyesore"
Go blind? Now that's a hyperbole... I wouldn't mind if this building was planned for another location but it will stick out like a sore thumb for me in that neighborhood.
-
I wouldn't say eyesore, just really boring. The kind of building that after it is built, becomes invisible and you never quite notice it.
That's subjective. For me it's going to be an eyesore and will def not go unnoticed.
-
That's going to be an eyesore. Hopefully it will look better than the renderings.

I couldn't take many pics inside because my main boss was there and the staff for Jennie Sealy do not appreciate workers on their cell phones. We were given warnings during orientation. Unfortunately I won't be able to contribute any more pics because I am back in Houston.

I'll start posting pics soon including the interior construction. I just started working there today.

I don't have a problem with this building being demolished. It's main architectural feature was removed a long time ago and I could only imagine how much it would cost to renovate a building that was vacant for so long.
