Somewhat random question but is Houston and Austin the only Texas cities experiencing this CBD construction boom or is Dallas as well? Just curious and don't mean to delve too much off topic.
From what I understand Dallas is experiencing a boom in its Uptown district.

I like the Dallas one better on its own, but ours is better in context.

They look good together.

IIRC doesnt this corner have Mid-Main, MATCH, and an office building all going? Talk about infill!

Yes. The other half is on the market.
Will the parking podium still cover the full lot?

So they're moving to another location next to light rail?
This.

The yellow-tan part at the top didn't really turn out as well as I had hoped, but the rest is looking nice
-
So only half of the block will get developed then?

Hmmm. Mill Creek's plan was aggressively urban and contemporary. Looking at JLB's website, there are a few decent looking projects, but most of them are mediocre. There was a purity to Mill Creek's design that's lacking from JLB's stuff.
Which scares me. Mill Creek's design perfectly compliments BBVA Compass Stadium.

Forgive me if there is a topic for this already, but does anybody know what this is?
From Kirksey's website:
Houston, Texas
65,000 sf
Mixed use complex
To be constructed over light rail facility
Located in the Texas Medical Center
Construction cost of $105 million- 2

About time something happens to those empty lots. They bother me more than any other empty lot downtown.

Looks like another generic faux-historical apartment complex...yay!

I hope they are different, that's my least favorite thing going on downtown.

Instantly one of my favorites in Houston. We need more like this.

the mayor doesnt look very convinced.. heh. thats a nice looking model though. should be a great project/addition to the area. im glad they kept the light up roof.
She's not impressed with the dumbed-down crown.

I think the issue with the crown was the angle they've always shown has made it look grander than it really is. Although disappointing, this is still a great looking building, and it goes on one of my most hated parking lots downtown. So yeah, I'm happy.

For me it's the tan bricks that don't work. I'm kind of on the fence about the giant lettering, half of me thinks it'll end up cool, the other half thinks it'll be god-awful. The rest of the building is quite nice though, and as others have pointed out, great to have a school downtown.

That is quality. Looking forward to it!

Kind of disappointed by the lack of height and street level retail, although I do like the modern aesthetic and we all know that area needs development.
-
I'm just being impatient. The development list has it starting back in January.
