  1. oh i highly doubt this!  i have visited the bloomingdales store in dubai, uae, upon many times.  bloomingdales, does not play second fiddle to noone.  it's either the WHOLE building... or no building!  and this is.. as per monarch.

As per Monarch's question, renovating the first floor would provide the vaunted Ground Floor Retail.  Bloomie's could still go upstairs (if that's in the works) - think of it as a vertical mall.

The first floor of the former Sakowitz department store is being renovated.  Excellent location on Main Street adjacent to Macy's and the Houston Pavilions.  On the LightRail line, with access to the tunnel.

how strange.  isn't this the same retail edifice that one of our members recently stated would be renovated / transformed into a bloomingdales?  wow, go figure.  also, why on earth would any entity waste money renovating just the first floor of this massive building... truly strange indeed.

i am openly praying that houston's next ritz carlton shall end up downtown.

upon my view, the central location as per the los angeles ritz carlton, infused with it's downtown l.a. live concept... is right in the mix of all pertinent activity.

with the superbowl forthcoming, this same location concept, would do wonders for houston's reputation...

if i have said it once, i shall say it a thousand times more.. i am beyond proud of houston, baylor, aTm, and all the other's that are

hereby constructing, expanding, renovating, and polishing up the respective stadiums.

TEXAS, has recently announced that we are preparing to spend upwards $750 million dollars towards our new

facility upgrades, construction, and so forth.  DKR, shall finally become fully enclosed, and shall harbor every bell and whistle, none to football mankind.

from what i have been hearing lately, it look's like moncrief neuhaus football complex, shall be demolished, and the largest football facility in the nation, shall replace it.

also, from what we are now hearing, the new TEXAS athletic dorms, shall be so very luxurious, that even some hotels shall become envious.

additionally, the new $400+ million TEXAS basketball arena, that they are currently scouting around downtown austin for.. is now being envisioned as the best collegiate arena upon this planet.

TEXAS, has indeed sat around and twiddled it's collective thumbs as per decades.. adding small cosmetic touches here and there.  everyone else, has either surpassed us, or damn near.

coach charlie strong is now in place... and the new TEXAS dawn, has officially arrived!  HOOK'EM!

  5. I believe there are plans to transform the old Sakowitz building into a luxurious 260,000 sqft. flagship Bloomingdale's:

htownlive, dude.. are you trying in earnest to give me a heart attack!

look, my good pal... i am now upon my flight to austin, tx to prepare for tomorrow's gridiron matchup between TEXAS vs UNT.  therefore, all i am trying to focus upon at this moment

is my HORNS.  nonetheless, did you say bloomingdales... on main street?  OMG!  i think that i shall lose my mind!

  6. I drove by the site at lunchtime and I like the fact that this building with its curved corners and angles in its footprint will break up the monotony of all of the square and rectangular shapes. I know it's unpopular to some but I think the setbacks from the curb will also allow for some interesting views that were lost in the boxy Foleys building. I can't call it Macys since they were in it a relatively short time and it was built for Foleys. It's not going to show up on the west skyline but it should interact really well with scale of the buildings surrounding it including the future Alesandra. This is going to be fun to watch as it gets up there.

i absolutely concur bobruss!  everyone knows just how i felt.. as per what i then referred to as the (phantom menace) was first being conceptualized.. upon complete incognito fashion.  however, i cannot help but agree, that once HOTEL ALESSANDRA comes forth... this is truly going to become a special area of downtown.  nonetheless, something must now be done, as per the old sakowitz building directly across the street.  i'm praying for a dillards!

lately, i have been eagerly awaiting my daily facebook updates, regarding

the ongoing construction, as per the gorgeous / beautiful new TDECU stadium.

upon every reference of these anticipated illustrations, i become a bit more awe inspired,

and not to mention proud.. of the university of houston.

yes!  i know that i am a TEXAS LONGHORN.. ingrained, through and through.  however, i shall

never, ever be one to try and attempt to compare stadiums... for this shall be silly season at it's finest.

but, there is one thing that i would just love to share to this fair city of houston that i call home, and

to all of the wonderful and now beaming houston cougars around town....
