I was staying at a hotel next to it and there were men digging holes as if they were going to start the foundation. So I think think one is a done deal.
-
It's sad but I guess the underlying brick was too damaged. Or maybe that was their original plan.

Oh man, I hadn't even thought about trump! Imagine if he brings a hotel skyscraper. That'd be sick.

I honestly don't like it. This building is one of my favorites downtown. They should've just cleaned out the inside and was the outside maybe replace a few things. Downtown needs more brick building and not so many glass boxes. Hopefully the next wave of construction will be a humble one with more brick and detail.

What if we don't have Hulu plus?! How else can we see the video?

Hope they keep/refurbish the "Savoy Houston" signage but it's probably a goner.
Maybe it'll be the "Holiday Inn Savoy Houston."

What was their for getting rid of the hotelS, does anyone know? I'm imagining how successful those hotels would've been, this city is in need of luxury hotels IMO.
-
I hope and pray they don't get rid of the "Savoy Houston" sign! That is such an awesome sign and should be refurbished.

They should only preserve the frame and put a nice artificial park with pond and all (all already suggested) but add LEDs to the the frame and lights to have the same effect the Eiffel Tower has. Every hour a light display, twinkling, etc.

Hopefully it becomes some type of residential building with only a few apartments. That'd be really urban.
-
So, so far for downtown there is the Capital Tower (33 fl), this Macy's Tower (23 fl), 609 Main (42 fl), and that mystery tower (50 fl). Am I correct?

The Savoy building is one of my favorites! I hope they renovate it! I'm excited for the next 5 years!

Question: What happens if a home owner just absolutely refuses to be bought out or doesn't move? Is this going on a vacant plot of land? I haven't heard any mention of immanent domain being used. Just curious.
Eminent domain? Who knows.

I'm kind of happy this tower isn't any taller. Gives more reason to make other towers. Once this goes up, it'll be one of my favorites!
-
It should have been "Gruene Street" but who cares! I for some reason have a great feeling about this! I'm even seeing the renderings as if its something new. Optimistic
-
At what percentage does it start construction?
-
This site has more renderings. Not as flattering from the side. http://www.coydavidson.com/office/hines-new-houston-office-tower/

Seeing all the rendering makes the park look very...boring. Hopefully there are more trees/buildings/rides.

Isn't that less than last time?

Thank you! It's been confusing me for a while. So much construction in Houston!
-
Can someone please explain what's happening here? What is the structure being built in the 3rd to last picture, and the last one?

The one thing that really hurt when it was canceled here in Houston was the 66-story Ritz Carlton. That hotel would have been an AMAZING adition to the skyline and was the hotel that the city needed.

Will this really destroy 1 million trees?
