I really hope they break 800'! Only because that would mean we'd have a 1000', 900', 800', 700' etc. towers! That's just me though

Are buildings in the rendering going up now?
-
The Astoria! It's right on that fence, and it's awesome.
-
Wait, this doesn't look like a renovation? Does it say?
-
If someone can put another building on the same lot as the savoy that'd be awesome! No more one building per lot!

That's awesome! Is this building on-hold, delayed, or cancelled? I hope it's starts going up soon!
-
Wait, I'm sorry, but are y'all saying that the rendering two posts above mine isn't planned to be built?
-
I was hoping they'd make if the "Holiday Inn: Savoy Houston." Bummer
-
Better than what it was before. Not as great as the original rendering, but still great.

I like town homes as well but more of the brick one that are found all around New York and Boston.

What an ass. How has main street been destroyed? Looking down main street with the trains running and people walking creates such an urban environment that would be at the level it is now had it not been for rail!
-
It looks like every other residential tower going up, but progress is progress so I'm a fan!
-
Not too many have gone to crap. It's a shame but at lease there have only been about 3 or 4 buildings to be cancelled or set back. So many tower cranes are on the horizon, I can't imagine what Houston will look like in a year.
-
Wait, so it was on hold but is now under construction?
-
I don't think the poster dislikes grass and landscaping by itself, but in Houston when an urban development has grass and landscaping it usually means little or no sidewalks and poor street level interaction.
Bingo! I like grass and landscaping but not in urban environments to a certain extent.
-
It actually is surprising they're taking up the whole lot because in Houston there's this trend to add an obnoxious garage and acres (exaggerated) of grass and landscaping.

If it is expanded 10 floors and reaches 960ft then it'd be about 8 meters short of supertall.
-
The Devon tower to the left would actually look really good in that area.

I haven't really kept up with this project but are both the taller and shorter structures being renovated?
-
I like this project. Reminds me of my home country. Shopping at the bottom; restaurants, hair salons, local news paper on 2nd level, businesses and offices on 3rd levels; and condos, hotels, apartments on higher levels.
Are you from Venezuela? I spend every summer there and it is the exact same way.
-
When was it cancelled?
-
To a certain extent who cares what it looked like, Houston really needs a new hotel, or three! If for example a ritz, a W, and a Le Meridien were to all go up at once they'd all have good business. So I just hope developers get on the ball.

If you look the little building to the left that is also under some secret (I think) renovation, you can see green neon light?
-
Holy hell that is sick!

Am I crazy for actually liking memorial city and it's skyline/lighting?
