  1. I sent with a out of town guest on friday night, and when we finally made it to the museum through all the construction, etc it turned out the museum was closed for a special members only function. Man was I pissed ! It took over an hour round trip for that drive, and there was NOTHING posted on their website about their special members only function !!

Yes it was. That's why I went Friday morning instead. It was right there on the website, I was told when I called, and told again when I was purchasing my tickets.

  2. I saw the exhibit yesterday morning. It was very fascinating...but a little icky. I would highly recommend seeing it. Just don't eat before you go. It was a little unsettling to see the human body in this condition and the various positions. The full body specimans are right there. You could touch them (I'm sure your not supposed to) but most organs, bones, fetuses, and most sliced body sections are under glass. The plastinates (the whole-body specimens) are the most striking. One man is holding his own skin in one hand, another is on a cell phone, and three plasinates are at a table playing poker. There is a plastinate woman hanging upside-down while another is doing a sort of royal curtsey/bow. The biggest of the plastinates is the man on the horse. This one is the most impressive just for its shear size alone. The fetuses really made me think about my views on abortion. After seeing the diseased livers and lungs, you'll never want to smoke or drink again the rest of your life. There are lots of things I left out, so go see it for yourself. I'm glad I did. It makes you really want to lead a much healthier lifestyle.

  3. Again, I disagree with this. Like skwatra just said, I'm one of those who love the rodeo but I don't necessarily want to see a country artist. The other options interest me more and allow me the opportunity to go to the rodeo and be excited about who is on stage. Just because you like the rodeo doesn't mean you love country music.

That's true, but probably an exception to the rule. Here's the funny thing. I think country/western/texas acts should be the ones playing at the rodeo, but Sheryl Crow is the only act I'll be able to see this year. FYI...I've always said that me, Sheryl Crow, and a strap-on dildo equals happiness forever.

  4. So, then shouldn't jazz or blues or hip-hop or opera or any kind of music festival/event play every kind of music? They would make more money money money. NO they shouldn't. The appropriate music goes with the appropriate event.

  5. The day the Livestock Show & Rodeo introduces a "Brokeback Mountain" lineup, is the day I return to church, confess my sins, and start preparing for Armageddon. :P

The "Brokeback" line up goes on in the crowd, the barns, and behind the scenes (not talkin bout sex). I have met at least one hot cowboy at very show I've ever gone to that I have gone out with. I look forward to meeting my hot small town gay cowboys every year.

  6. Since "Brokeback Mountain" is doing so well, you would've at least thought they'd bring in The Village People or something.

The Village People are for the heteros. My people wouldn't mind seeing some Justin Timberlake, BEP, Gwen, Madonna, or Judy Garland "Brokeback Mountain" line up. :D

  7. You mean those people dressed up like cartoon characters? I hope our team is too cool for that.

A retractable roof would be nice, but I can't see anyone shelling out for one for a 20,000 capacity venue. I do like the idea of looking at ways to keep it relatively cool without AC. Misters, large canopies or awnings over the stands are ideas. It would also help not to surround it with acres of parking, to reduce the "heat island" effect.

No. I mean a mascot, like Rockets, Texans, Astros, Longhorns, Owls, Aggies, etc. So would a team be AC Houston Hurricanes or only AC Houston?

  8. They do that citykid09 because CNN and The Weather Channel are based in Atlanta. IMO, it's another PR move which I think is great. Atlanta is serious about putting itself on the map. Though times I think we can all agree they go a bit overboard, at least they are on the steam engine of trying to make that city the best it can be and if it means making sure the world is aware Atlanta is alive and kicking, I say good for them. We may think they are going overboard, but a lot of people are buying the hype. IMO Houston goes overboard in it's own mind of how great it is but the difference is the world is aware of it and isn't buying the little hype that is put out there.

There is a certain spirit that Atlanta has, that quite frankly, I am jealous of and feel Houston no longer has. I also want Houston to be the best in the south, but as much as I love my city, I don't think we have what it takes or the gutts to do it. That thing that attracted the creative minds to Houston is all but gone. Houston has become too safe. The city is becoming more and more conservative in every way, and I don't think that is a good thing for a city that once had a world wide reputation for being forward thinking, on the cutting edge, futuristic and having a almost unmatched ability of being able to do the impossible. Houston doesn't take chances anymore and because of that, I really don't see us being the best in the south for a looooooong time.

I hate to agree, but i do.
