Is Hines' possible second tower where the Shamrock was supposed to be?
-
Hines doesn't appear to own or have building rights to those parking lots. Maybe Hines tried to get one of those parking lots but the owner was a dick and wouldn't sell. Or maybe they didn't try to buy it. Or maybe Hines is haggling on price to purchase one of those parking lots as I type. Or maybe they could careless about those parking lots. Or maybe someone else bought the parking lots for development. Or maybe whoever owns the parking lots likes the parking lot business. Or maybe the owner of the parking lot wants to develope something better than just an office tower, but they haven't released anything to the public about yet. Or maybe whatever.... There are many possible reasons why Hines isn't building or trying to build on those parking lots. I just don't think Hines should be made a 'bad guy' or whatever just because they're going to build on a lot that has buildings already on it instead of on a parking lot.

If they're going to knock the place down, why don't they go ahead and get rid of the front parking. Build up to the damn street. As much as I love the place, I'd give my eye teeth to have it all drug up to the street throughout its entire length.

No condos? That's disappointing.

Great! I'm happy to see the plaza hasn't fallen to the wayside.

I vote 'neither' also. It's just...there. Very blah.

It would be great for a giant mural of some sort. Or, just paint windows and balconies to make it look like the north face.

When did it happen?

Do you have a link to an article about this attempted breakin? I can't find anything about it on Google.
The rents at Domain for 1 bedrooms is $920 - $1800, and $1620 - $2244 for 2 bedrooms.

The houstonist.com has more info today. Just scroll down to it. There are lots of links.

That's what Alamo is doing here in Austin. They're converting the Ritz on 6th street back into a theater. It's been a combination pool hall/pizza place for awhile, and other things in the last few decades I believe. It's only going to have two screens. I believe the Ritz orginally only had one screen.

One pic of a man and woman running was taken in front of Hickory Street Grill at 8th and Congress in Austin. FYI.

In Austin, butts on the ground outside of bars is now a huge problem. Come on people. Don't mess with Texas.

Perhaps, but I believe life is sweetened by risk. I also believe in subverting authority.
But, hey, that's just me.
I love to be quoted. My risks are along the line of jumping out of planes, not slowly killing others around me with my bad habits. Authority should be challenged and subverted if it is hurting people (not businesses). Please use quotation marks and 'kingkirbythegreatoftexas says/said' in the future.

It's a public health issue.
