sorry man but I think can Houston is dead..they have already fired 75 of their 115 man staff and the rest have had their contact picked up by root...I can't imagine that Comcast is going to give up entirely on CSN, though that may be why the local sports teams are bitching.

like what dude..So far midway has brought a software company and a up scale salad bar...not exactly the fashion or entertainment nexus this place was supposed to be when it was proposed...right now midway seems more concerned with filling space not with what in that spaceWith the falling of Comcast Sports Net what is the future of the space they are using at GreenStreet? hopefully rootsports will move somewhere else so they can put something more useful in that space

Wasn't it like a month between the announced sky House river oaks and. Breaking grown?

Thought it said similar acre to Discover green but I will also double checki thought they had only highlighted one or two blocks for a southern downtown park. at one point it was even down to half a block, just north of the Savoy/Holiday Inn i thought?

I Am familiar with the city south section plan from the report if memory serves they identify three areas for another discovery sized park....I would rather it be something different a sculpture garden type or a small botanical..not discovery green 2

They should not focus so hard on Big Box just yet..Downtown is a weak shopping market...I still believe their best bet right now is to focus on small scale shops and try and line the street with those..example: The shoe store Tipping Point (that use to be on main, Those mobile clothing stores that park outside green street...places like that can build a niche customer base Downtown first...people like urban izzy that sells hard to find vintage clothing( although she partner with the other two mobile clothing owner and now rents a space in city centre.

Did anyone call the number to inquire about the space?

You can't kick them out of public places..but it is against cities rules to sleep on public property (That on the city for not enforce the rules. You will have a hundred cops in the day time but it will be a ghost town for cops at night..It's already starting to get a great night life again over there. I went there Saturday night and a few of the bars actually had lines standing out the door. I was a little shocked at that since I thought it would be a little easy to get in. The big problem with that area though is the rampant amount of homeless people... some of the people look very questionable around there and at least two homeless people got kicked out of La Carafe while I was there. I definitely plan on going back to that bar area but my girlfriend was definitely nervous walking though parts of it, especially on Main... even Market Square Park had a lot of people sleeping in it and she refused to walk by them.

I Agree that residential is a must for downtown, not just for a sense of aliveness but for the music bar scene as well..A bar owner being interviewed by the chronicle a few months back made a great point of saying 70% of most bars and restaurants business are from local business people who live in that neighborhood.. So if the new bars and venues are to survive it will hinge on a larger downtown population..people that can sustain them long after the hispters have found a new hot spot.

Skyhouse twin towers will be a great addition or even a sky house further down main would work equal as well

So on one had you say nice hard working and then on another you imply they might do something to your daughter?

It would make more sense to get the tower out of the way before leasing the other part to avoid subject residents to two years of construction

I only get excited when I see urban posting and a few others.Santa Urbannizer brings me renderings of yet more development down the block from my office. These look pretty neat. Post Oak is quickly turning into Houston's version of 5th Avenue.

I like the plans for the east it is a chance for Houston to do something similar to the river walk but on a much larger scale. If Houston want to be taken serious as a international city we will need to think like one.By that I mean we can not continue to neglect our core and expect people to be impressions when they visit Houston.Houston is a great city that suffering outdated views from people who last visit was like a decade ago..

Do they do residential or could we be looking at a potential office?

I am just hoping it a poor quality rendering

I have always thought that the main street corridor leads itself to a mix of office, residential and entertainment structure.. As for gfr given it location to HCC a decent place to eat for worker/students /and staff could go over big there.

That is not unusual in Houston..how many projects did not start till months after they were supposed to?
-
If you look at it nimby have actually lost more battle in Houston than they have won it far less urban areas.

I think the only way you are going to get greyhound to move is to revive the unified transit hub plan..maybe if the proposed Dallas to Houston plans which would give the city something to build around

A tower along main would not look out of places.. Un fact I have always thought main street leaned itself to to highrise towers by virtue of it design .imagine main lined with residential towerss.. Even a mix of residential and office tower s.. The beauty is that if they sit on main they won't interfer with the rest of midtown

That the one..I hope green st is smart enough to buy it just so they can secure space for future expansion if they ever needed it..So, that would be the lot behind the 4 Seasons and adjacent to the Bar "Reserve"?
If so, a tall building there would crush the view of all of the 4seasons south facing rooms and apartments. Oh well.

I noticed the lot across the street of green st with the stand alone tix booth is for sell ..that prime property

The project has been removed because the developer is now looking at selling the land.
Me thinks with the tax incentives being a proved look for alot of DT property to start opting to sell

It does seem a large waste of potential green space..I don't get how people who claimed to study urbanism can constantly get the simple things wrong
