Hotel ZaZa & The McCarthy Apartments Memorial City
Motis B Totis replied to Urbannizer's topic in Katy and Points West
I imagine this green space will be similar to the green space that is planned next to Hotel Zaza The Square at Memorial City – Fall 2016 The Square at Memorial City is an all-new green space that will be located on the west end of the mall, outside Ice Skate USA and between The Cheesecake Factory and a brand-new Maggiano's Little Italy. The 4,000 square foot outdoor venue, complete with a 28' X 14' high-definition video screen and attractive water features, will be the new home for culture and entertainment in the Memorial area and West Houston. Each week, The Square will offer family-friendly events that are sure to delight your sense- 133 replies

Hotel ZaZa & The McCarthy Apartments Memorial City

Guad is the only resturant that will be left standing, Ciros was in the way and will get moved, Denis' Seafood just wasnt makeing money and was paved over Liberty Kitchen is taking forever to move in to the Rub's old spot Supposedly the Whole foods deal fell through The planned green space keeps getting larger, probably because of the sucess at city centre- 133 replies

Hotel ZaZa & The McCarthy Apartments Memorial City
Motis B Totis replied to Urbannizer's topic in Katy and Points West
http://s24.postimg.org/h0ul5cjvp/med.jpg Here it its, possibly the final plan for the area. Now that the Air Liquide project is finishing up the Hotel Zaza project is next on the list for Metro National. Ciro's and the tanning place will be torn down and relocated on the property. A fitness center will be added to the back side of the Murphy garage. A sky bridge will be added to connect across Memorial City Way. One final office building will be built on the grassy knoll. Lastly, due to its success at City Centre, the almighty green space will be added to the property. All this should be completed prior to the super bowl.- 133 replies

Pluckers Wing Bar, an Austin-based chicken wing restaurant chain that got its start serving college students, will open its second Houston location in the first quarter of 2016. The new spot, at 10407 Katy Freeway, near the intersection of Interstate 10 and Attingham Drive, is currently occupied by a shuttered 59 Diner, which Pluckers owners will tear down to rebuild the new 7,800-square-foot restaurant. http://www.bizjournals.com/austin/blog/retail/2015/04/pluckers-houston-expansion-continues.html

"FEED TX, the restaurant group that owns Liberty Kitchen restaruants and BRC Gastropub, has announced it will open Liberty Kitchen @ The Treehouse, the building at 936 Bunker Hill that Jonathan’s the Rub pulled out of in September...and is expected to open in late 2015." http://blog.chron.com/foodchronicles/2014/12/liberty-kitchen-group-to-move-into-metronationals-treehouse-in-memorial-city/#29362101=0 http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2014/12/22/inner-loop-oyster-bar-expands-to-memorial-city.html http://houston.culturemap.com/news/restaurants-bars/12-22-14-trendy-seafood-restaurant-ventures-outside-the-loop-into-a-treehouse/- 16 replies

Here is some info sent out a few months ago about the area next to the lot. "In an effort to improve drainage, mitigate flood damage and relieve traffic flow, MetroNational and TIRZ 17 are working together to redesign the Conrad Sauer Detention Basin, which will not only increase its capacity, but its efficiency. This project will remove an eyesore from the community, improve mobility and help stabilize the properties in the immediate area, while also providing much needed green space with walking and cycling pathways, landscaping, wet bottom and grassy park areas. MetroNational will give right-of-way for the construction of a new road to provide access from Gessner to the detention pond and will donate additional land to increase size of the detention facility. The land being given to the TIRZ is nearly 2 acres and is valued at $4 million. Soon, Spring Branch will have a central meeting space and “town square” in which to gather and do such things as take in a Forth-of-July fireworks celebration as a community." http://www.yourhoustonnews.com/memorial/news/agreement-would-let-metronational-extend-street-detention-basin/article_71af95a7-c173-504d-9238-83ca5e1ee464.html

We've all been waiting paitently for some news! From what I can tell Metro National likes to focus on one memorial city project at a time. Currently its the AIr Liquide building, next could be this site or the hotel Zaza site.

A new vertical wind tunnel for indoor skydiving is starting taking shape in the Spring Branch/Memorial area. Located between Blalock and Bunker Hill on the north side of I-10, what looks to be a tornado horn crosed with a drainage pipe is currently being erected. http://blog.chron.com/rantandrave/2014/05/indoor-skydiving-center-to-open-in-north-houston-in-2015/#23684101=0 https://www.iflyworld.com/houston
