Astrodome History At 8400 Kirby Dr.
4thWardBoy replied to houstonsemipro's topic in Historic Houston
" I've heard through the grapevine Lakewood is quietly behind the scenes providing $$, food, clothing, support, medical assistance, transportation, etc..." i remember when lakewood church became a shelter during the allison flood. some people said they only did for the media attention. people believe what they want to believe. just because someone doesn't sound a trumpet or alert the media doesn't mean they are not giving. the more important question is, what am i doing? because that is the only thing you can do something about. -

He sure does like it. So do I. Loving it is what gets us in trouble. -

Texas Medical Center Skyline Update
4thWardBoy replied to WestGrayGuy's topic in Texas Medical Center
Urban Lofts has cajones. They've built in areas where I would never consider living in, at least not yet, including deep 3rd ward, and DEEP 4th ward which is an area I would not be comfortable walking around in at night. We stay in on the far east side of 4th Ward surrounded by dozens of other Urban Loft dwellers. -
Main St. seems to be lagging behind all others(i.e. Washington Ave., Houston Ave., W. Dallas, and many other major streets leading into downtown) in development. This side of North side still looks like it did 20 years ago with not much sign of life. What is up with that? Is it lonly a matter of time? Are developers waiting for the rail line to be completed before investing?

there's also a run down car lot right across the street. seems this location would be excellent for a service station or something.- 112 replies

Just curious what happened to all the federal money the city has received for the restoration of this site.

Nice! I have a car lot on 4025 Telephone Road. Very familiar with this road. Very Interesting. Had no idea that Telephone Rd. had so many nice places. Thanks!

Will The Tin Cans Limit Property Values
4thWardBoy replied to HtownTX's topic in Houston Real Estate
I own one of these tin cans in 4th Ward. My wife preferred the more traditional brick but they didn't have any in 4th Ward which I preferred much more than the 3rd Ward/Midtown area. The interior is very nice. I love it and the wife has come around. I am concerned however with how they will look in 10 years. I've seen some off of Memorial and other areas and it does seem that years do not help the appearance. They start to look pretty bad in fact. We'll probably sell before that happens. -
My wife and I bought our loft(Urban Lofts) here in 4th Ward last year. We are in our mid 20s. I love the location, right in front of downtown. But we're going to need a house soon(2-3 yrs) and I really want to get out of debt so I was considering selling the loft next year, buying a lot in Eastwood and building our own custom home. I believe Eastwood would be a great investment, but I also know leaving the loft behind would also leave behind a good investment. Any advice? Should I lease the loft? I've seen what a lot of years can do to these metal urban lofts as well. They don't get any prettier. Thanks for your thoughts!
