  1. Well, there was also the time we Brasso'd the dome of the Academic Building. Everyone had left for Spring Break, and we weren't leaving until Saturday morning for South Padre. Cases of beer were consumed. Boredom set in. I always hated the BQs putting their BQ crap up there, so we decided to Brasso over it. The decision was made to put my nickname up there...'Infamous'. Well, part way into the escapade, we heard yelling from below. Campus Cops! We scrambled off the dome, back into the building. We ran down the stairs as the cops attempted to get inside. We left the same way we came...through the steam tunnels. It was a glorious escape!

For weeks afterward, I chuckled as people would ask, "What does that INFA brasso'd on the dome of the Academic Building mean?" Eventually, the BQ fish went back up to reclaim their dome.

There was also the hat stolen from the UT bandmember by a Corps buddy (not me), the attempted theft of some ornament from the yard of a UT frathouse (too drunk to remember what it was), the keg stolen from another frat party, and something else that I am still sworn to secresy about (no animals were harmed in the incident, but that huge fake steer in front of the store in Bryan was involved).

Yes, college was fun. So much fun that I was nearly expelled from the Corps 3 weeks before graduation (Those Trigon suits had no sense of humor back then). The Tceh prank is part of the game. I'm having a hard time getting worked up over it.

I have no problem with campus pranks by students. Pranks between dorms, outfits, frats.. all fun.

I have no problem fun pranks against other schools. Stealing little trinkets and small stuff.. even a mascot briefly. all fun. But there's a line of respect that I don't think should be crossed when in comes to other schools, especially visitors. This prank in my mind, crosses that line. I would have equal disdain for a group of aggies if say they defaced property or a statue on another campus with paint. Toilet paper, Fine. Paint ! Bad bull !!

Also.. I will admit.. my view of this prank is clouded by other incidents with Tech. I've had friends assaulted there on game day. I've had friends get their tires slashed on game weekends. Throwing tortillas. Fun. Throwing batteries. Not fun. I've been to at least 2 dozen aggie away games and Lubbock ranked at the bottom of the list as the worst times filled with the worst people.

And what's funny... It's like Why? Why be nasty assmongers to visitors ? Austin and longhorn fans, if not gracious or overtly nice, were still never nearly as bad. Most student bodies and alumni were awesome hosts. Not Tech.

CT huh? BQ here. Guess that explains why we so naturally butt heads.

Edit.. I forgot, want to be fair. I did have a tire slashed in austin once. But in fairness, I did have my back windshield peppered with aggie stickers including the Calvin peeing on an upside down longhorn. Still. longhorn fans on game weekend were never mean spirited asses.

  2. 20th...What's your beef w/us Badgers? Isn't that where your Honey Badger player got his nickname,. They couldn't nick name him a lion or a Tabby Cat? I'm a Badger and I will agree that the Big 10 isn't great this year by any means, but let's get the facts correct. Wisco also beat Nebraska as well which equates to 3 ranked teams. 20th, you are really disappointing me with your Badger hate....Actually all the Hate that you're spreading on any team that's not the Tigers. 1st it's Stanford then Wisc, then Wisc, then Stanford, then BRAG about beating a BIG EAST team...

    C'Mon MAN!

    It's all Strength of schedule.

I guarantee that when the first BCS rankings come out, assuming everyone in the Coaches top 7 keep winning, it's going to be:

    1. 2. 3. OU, LSU, Bama ( in some order )

    4. OSU.

    5. 6. 7. Boise St, Wisc, Stanford. ( in some order )

B12 and SEC started the season with more ranked teams and/or higher ranked teams.

B10 isn't that far behind now.. obviously having 6 ranked teams currently, tied with B12, is nothing to sneeze at. But y'all started the season with 5 ranked teams, the highest at #10.

SEC started with 8, 2 in top 10 and B12 started with 6, 3 in the top 10.

Current ranked teams left to play -

    OU -4

    OSU -4

    LSU -3

    Bama -2

    Wisc -2

    Stan -1

  3. Wow, your aggy logic just blew my mind!!!! I have no idea what you are trying to say  Tech won in 2001 in our stadium... or do you think we lost in kyle field, and stormed the field the goal post incident happened at TAMU?!?

anyway Im done. I know the problem with arguing with an idiot is you both wind up looking dumb. Im not gonna reply any further

You apparently think it's really all Aggies, all the time.

That means you think it wasn't really tech students that rammed the goal post in the stands, but aggies. It's not that hard.

Great long article. I can see from the beginning it's written with a tech slant. Not gonna bother finishing it because I've heard all the excuses before.

All the details in the article.. don't matter.

Going to lay the goal post at Will Rogers feet - Who cares. Irrelevant.

Aggies still in the stands - Aggies always have a very short yell practice even after a loss. I didn't realize your stadium rules dictate we evacuate the premises immediately.

Aggies goading Tech students with the goal post. - Goal post is a weapon. That's like saying if a bad guy has a gun pointed at a good guy's head and the good guy says "Go ahead do it", it somehow the good guy's fault for being shot when the bad guy decided to pull the trigger.

Deciding to take the goal post over a fence - All great.. unless that fence is blocked by a mass of people.

Fight afterwards, even the aggie on aggie punch. Irrelevant.

Only part that matters is Tech students decided to pull the trigger. They rammed the goal post into a large group of opposing fans. That alone could have seriously hurt someone, and is the only part that matters and the only reason why it made Tech look so bad in that situation.

  4. no reports filed with LPD or DPS. No photos to document proof. These are charter buses, plain white, no identification that tied them to A&M. You know the ones with windows 8-10-12ft up in the air? A&M security/police watching them all night and somehow they missed some guys with ladders walking around and writing stuff on all the windows on every bus, that would taken quite a bit of time. The buses are locked, security didnt notice someone trying to break into the bus?

A&M football team has never needed bus security. Way to cause a first !

Does your car show polish only work on windows 10' up ? That's funny, cuz mine also works on the ground level cargo hold doors.

Reports say on one of the bus, locks were busted and couldn't be locked up for the night... guess which bus had the **** in it.

Again these are rented buses, how would anyone outside of TAMU personnel even know which buses belonged to A&M?

    You're joking right ?

It you wanted to plan something like this, it would be pretty easy to have a spotter follow the team from practice back to the whichever hotel. But that wouldn't even be necessary.

It's not like hotel locations are Top Secret. Hell, for bowl games, the hotel locations are usually advertised for fan access.

Plus, it's not like Lubbock is that big. It's not that much bigger than Bryan-College Station. I'm sure the Aggies use the same hotel they use every other year and probably one of the same 2 or 3 hotels that all visiting teams use.

In your world, apparently hotel arrangements for visitng teams are so hush-hush that the Coach drivers apparently don't even know the final location until they are on route, and Then.. Then they apparently press the Cloaking button as they roll into town so that local fans can't follow them. And in a small college town of only a quarter million, apparently all the locals are too dumb to put 2 and 2 together that a convoy of charter buses sitting in a hotel parking lot on a football weekend has a very damn good chance of belonging to the visiting team or band.

  5. Okie dokie. typical dilusional brainwashed aggy that always has an excuse for their actions while crying everyone else isnt classy. I wouldnt expect anything less. good job :D

Who cares about the punch? Throwing a effin goal post at visiting fans is repulsive all on its own.

Are you now suggesting that Tech fans are such pansies that they would let a visitng team, that just lost, storm their field and tear down one of their goal posts ? Don't think so.

  6. I believe I did more "vandalism" to the A&M campus myself when I was in school there than the perps who did this. Agreed that Hwy6 is mistaken in calling it spray paint, and whatever was done was cleaned up before the team used the busses to travel to the stadium. My Aggies brothers are engaging in quite a bit of overreaction on this.

BTW, if you ever make it into the steam tunnels in Aggieland, you can see my handiwork there. ;)

You're comparing generations of aggies tagging out of sight steam tunnels to how you treat visiting fans and teams ??

I've traveled to multiple bowl games and b12 championship games and to every campus in the B12 except Colorado and ISU, multiple times for South div teams. My experiences tell me that Techtards are special in their nastiness and aggressiveness towards opposing fans.

  7. bullchit - where are the pics? where is the police report? truth is it was shoe polish and only one of the three buses had a dog turd in it -surely it didnt come from your mascot which just happens to be a dog?

this is just like the goal post incident a few years ago where you blamed Tech for hitting McKinnely - but it was in fact aggy on aggy violence but you blame Tech for it. Or the time an aggy student broke into the TAMU football facilities - stole some football equipment and vandalized the locker room putting "the eyes of Texas are upon you" and the UT logo to make it appear like it was UT that did it.

Aggy has well established history of doing things to make it appear that someone from another school was responsible so you can go cry to mommy and bang the "classy" drum. How easily you have forgotten that you started the tradition of vandalizing other schools - BEVO ring a bell??!!

oh and for TCEH tards - at least we know what the TX flag looks like!!! Should we start calling you Chilean A&M

    LOL

You try to absolve Tech's misdeeds by focusing on details that are wrong.

Who cares if it was shoe polish and not paint, like mistakenly reported. Fact remains lots of vulgarities were put on 4 buses.

Who cares if it was only one bus that had **** in it. That's still one bus too many. That's still pretty nasty. Everything I've read has indicated it was more than just a single turd.

Our mascot travels with her corps handler. She would never have any direct interaction with the football team in traveling arrangements.

Just like the goal post incident......

Techtards try to keep the focus on the McKinney fight. Yeah, so in the mayhem, an aggie threw a punch at another aggie. Agreed, and not the point or the correct focus.

That was AFTER techtard students rammed their goalpost into the aggie fan section after the game.

So it's all aggie sabatoge to paint other schools poorly ? Are you saying that was really Aggies dressed up as Techtards that decided to then throw the goalpost into their own fans after a loss ????? You're kidding, right ?

And because it was ONLY polish and a little bit of ****, it was most likely aggies, not techtards ????

    Yeah.. Chilen flag.

Was put there by a Chilean corps member to mark the 1 yr anniversary of the Chilean mine incident and to honor an Aggie who was instrumental in the rescue.

Pranks are fun.. They are supposed to be fun. Stealing a mascot to show you can would be fun. Killing a mascot, too far. Vulgarity and excrement crosses that line from fun to nasty... Whatever. It made the national news, and made you clowns look bad.

    Like I said.. Good riddance.

  8. Anyone predicting an OU/Bama ntl. title game following a Stanford/Wisc game which will ultimately lead us into a playoff discussion assuming all are undefeated?

I think the winner of LSU/Bama will be the de facto SEC winner and in the Championship game.

I think the Aggies don't stand much a chance in Norman, so Bedlam, OU vs OSU should be between two unbeatens.

OSU is looking dominant and they'll probably have 2 more ranked games - Baylor and Kstate before playing OU last game of the season.. I see them jumping Wisconsin, Stanford and Boise if they win out.

Techtards spray painted our team busses and spread dog poop inside them. When I was a student, it was a given that there would be problems, physical altercations, when visiting Tech on game day. Good riddance assholes clowns....

  9. What if they lined it with a closed-cell polyurethane foam rubber? Like what they make stress balls out of. The building goes down as an inverted pyramid, but the foam would go straight down within a box. During an earthquake, the box may be breached but the foam will absorb the shear rather than transmitting it to the inverted pyramid.

Didn't say it couldn't be done...

Volume of a cube is 3x as much as a pyramid. Sitework is pricey. But if price is no object, which I assume it isn't since the project probably hasn't gotten past the pretty rendering phase, then kudos to you for your unique solution.

I wonder how much 2/3rds of a cubic city block's worth of flubber would cost ?

The article says the purpose of going underground is there are very limited places to build and that they have a height limit on buildings.

That is for the historic city center only. I'm not sure what developer would want to build in whatever relatively small area that 'historic city center' entails so bad that they'd dream up a project 10x more expensive.

The rest of Mexico City is open for the business of building skyscrapers.

  10. Interesting but impractical.

You can build a 5 story parking garage above grade for about the same amount that it would cost to build a 2 story parking garage sub-grade.

I imagine for something 65 stories deep, that multiplier would be significantly greater.

Throw in that Mexico has pretty frequent seismic activity. Engineering a building to sway and give when the earth shifts is one thing. This would be more akin to engineering a missile silo in a seismic zone that has to be able to withstand shear along it's entire 65 story height. Mucho dineiro !

    Pretty renderings. Not gonna happen.

  11. People need to use google earth and LOOK at this location.

As you mentioned in the Parc Binz thread..... Binz(Bissonnet) on the other side of Main has 4 lanes. At Main (where it look like on google maps that they have 5 lanes), The ROW at that point is 72'

Bissonnet transitions from 4 lanes to 2 lanes around Kelvin/ Morningside. The ROW on Bissonnet between Morningside and Montrose is mostly 63' but is actually 77' at Ashby.

EXPAND Bissonnet NOW ! There is plenty of room for a dedicated turn lane or perhaps 4 full lanes.

SouthHampton needs to stop treating their small segment of Bissonnet as a neighborhood street. It is not. All their streets that run parallel to or intersect Bissonnet are their neighborhood streets.

Bissonnet is classified by the City of Houston GMIS as a Major Thoroughfare. The 1.5 mile stretch from Kirby to Montrose can and should be expanded.

All joking aside I agree it is a stupid place for a high rise, but that's Houston for you.

    Why ?

This location is on a major thoroughfare. It is located 1/2 to 3/4ths of a mile from 2 other major thoroughfares. It is located less than half a mile from a prestigious university and less than 1 mile from the 2nd largest employment center in the city. It is a great location.

Lots of major thoroughfares have neighborhoods, even insanely pricey neighborhoods, right off them. The only reason this location is any different is that the neighborhood actually thinks they own this stretch of major thoroughfare and that the rest of the city has no right to it. Bissonnet is not a neighborhood street.

It's a fine location for this kind of project and this segment of road is a perfect candidate for expansion.

West Alabama has the exact same ROW - 63'.... Bissonnet could easily be made a 3 lane road with a similar lane changing setup probably without even losing any trees.

PS... I didn't realize Buckhead had this all up on their webpage.. but they a good job explaining what Bissonnet is per the city guidelines.

PS II... Metro doesn't run buses on neighborhood streets.. they run them on major thoroughfares, like Bissonnet.

PS III... And it's not a hi-rise. It's a midrise. It will be close in height to these two residential midrises, which also happen to be on a major thoroughfare immediately surrounded by residential neighborhoods.

  12. I agree with you. The Aggie love affair with all things SEC is grating on my nerves. Rooting for all SEC teams? Excuse me? I've hated Bammer my entire life, and the SEC contract A&M signed does not obligate me to root for those gumps.

The honeymoon will be over once this football season ends. No biggie.

Don't use me as the bar for college pick-em, I have consistently proven incapable of picking with my brain. Can't help it, CFB is an emotional thing.

Concur. My love for A&M and hatred for ND has given me a 1-3 record on those games. I'm incapable of picking ND to win one or Ags to lose one.

  13. The folks who live in Southampton, Boulevard Oaks, Shadowlawn, and Broadacres aren't opposed to this development because it will bring in the wrong type of people. They are opposed because the scale is totally out of whack. The largest thing around there at the moment is the Rice Graduate Apartments and this Ashby Tower will be 220 feet taller!!! Additionally, wxman nailed it, this is NOT a good location for a large scaled high rise. Bissonnet will really be maxed out...

FULL DISCLAIMER, I live in Southampton although quite a bit away from this project.

When you mention Bissonet to most Houstonians, they are are going to picture it as a major 5 lane thoroughfare. They are going to picture it with all it's commercial properties stretching from the West up to Morningside. They'll also picture it as one of the major streets that runs through the heart of our Musuem District. If they look it up on Google maps, they'll see that it is one of the yellow lines indicated a major street.. one of only 3 major E-W streets that run the majority of the distance between 610 and 288 between 59 and the South Loop.

What they do not imagine is the 1 mile stretch, 2 lane residential stretch between that commercial and museum district that really has no bizness being there.

Bissonet might be schizo.. but I laugh at the scale arguments... because it effin Bissonnet and a project such as this should be on such a street. The project is NOT being built on Wroxton or Albans a few blocks off Bissonnet.. it is on effin Bissonnet.

You have commercial half a mile to your west. You have museums half a mile to your east, and you have, as you mentioned, the Rice Apartments and parking garage a few blocks away.

Not only should this project be built here.. but this 1 mile stretch of Bissonnet should be expanded to 4 lane in order to fully wear its name proudly.

Also I laugh because the opponents of this project have screwed themselves over.

They HAD a retail component... maybe a wine bar, maybe a coffee shop, maybe a high-end dry cleaners. But thanks to their bitching and moaning.. all gone.

They HAD high end condos.. They now have rented apartments. So not only do they have poorer new neighbors, but more of them, considering the condo units would have been larger and fewer in number. Their bitching and moaning has made the traffic problem worse.

DISCLAIMER: I recently lived half a mile from this project and supported it fully even then.

I now live a mile away but travel through the neighborhood multiple times a week on the way to the med center... so screw you Ashby haters that has cost me a coffee shop, wine bar or dry cleaners along my route. I hope you all get Vitamin D deficient from all that Ashby Hi-rise sun blockage.

  14. senior QB jinx continues... Tanny couldn't settle down and stop screwing up 2nd half.... Though the last pick that sealed it was just a good play on Fuller by the corner, the pass was fine.

Third game in a row we've come out lackadaisical in the 3rd... that's gotta be on the coaches.

Season aint over.. but damn that sucks.

  15. Figure I would share our pickem scores with the rest of Haif.

Sowanome is destroying us through 3 weeks and is in the 93rd percentile of all ESPN players. Congrats to Aggie92 and TimmyChan for being the first to forget your weekly picks. Haify history tells us that it will happen to us all at some point.

    1 Sowanome - 42 - 40 - 52 = 134

    2 Distribaire PE - 41 - 42 - 43 = 126

    3. The Pragmatist -38 - 46 - 35 = 119.9

    4 20thStDad 41 - 38 - 37 = 116.9

    5 RedScare82 - 30 - 42 - 43 = 115

    6 Highway6 - 35 - 34 - 44 = 113

    7 Aggie92 - 40 - 40 = 80

    8 Timmy Chan - 38 - 32 = 70

  16. This realignment stuff SUCKS.

Texas and Texas ATM in different conferences? The back yard brawl between Pitt and West Virginia likely over? Syracuse to the ACC? Oklahoma State and Texas Tech (two teams that have NEVER won an outright conference title in their long histories) to the Pacific Coast?

Rivals don't need to be in the same conference to play. FL-FLST , GA-GT, SC-Clemson, CO-Co St, ND-USC

I was perfectly happy being in a different conference as the longhorns, if we could maintain our game. Course, in the past month, the constant longhorn fan chatter of "Screw em, OU's our real rival anyways".. it's grating on me. I could care less at this point. I expect the series to go by the wayside for 5-10 yrs so the Whorns can feel like they taught us a lesson. It will be sad to not have the game, but at this point, if I had to stay in conf with them in ordere to keep the game, I say quit em, it's not worth staying.

I'm not sure if I believe the most recent chatter that Texas to the PAC is back on. All the chatter is coming out of Austin, namely Chip Brown and Kirk Bhols, and they were wrong about the PAC last yr and were wrong about the ACC last week. I don't see why the PAC is caving in as much as the recent reports state. They hold every card.

The Aggie in me hopes the PAC says no way Jose, not until the LHN is adios... thus forcing Texas to go Indy or head up the Texas SWC conference.. because, either way, they'll more likely be forced to schedule us to get their SOS up.

The Big East conference is likely toast. Sure, their football wasn't the best but now there's no more Syracuse vs. UConn in Madison Square Garden for the Big East Finals or Pitt vs. Nova in the battle of PA on the hard court. THAT FLAT OUT SUCKS. And all so greedy programs can hoard even more cash.

Big East is a basketball conference in a football world. That was the whole point of their founding.

Luckily though, you may be wrong... a) if recent rumors are correct, Uconn may be school #15 to the ACC and b ).. I read in one of the pressers that MSG stands a good chance of being put in the rotation for the ACC finals.

4 conferences with 16 teams is going to leave even more folks out the next time. I hate this. We might as well just award the football national title to the team with the most cash.

Texas and their suck at the *** cronies have now ruined the SWC and Big 12 in less than two decades. The Pac Ten, or hell, even ACC, better be careful inviting the Longhorns to the table.

Assuming the BE or B12 doesn't go down without a fight, we might end up with 5x 16 team super conferences... then Lord knows how that's gonna go down with the transition from BCS to eventual +1, 8 team playoffs.
