  1. Nice digs midtownguy. I'm in a Perry home too (I recognize those cabinets) http://www.houstonarchitecture.info/haif/s...icons/icon1.gif. I'll have to take some pictures when I get a chance.
  2. It's a popular ride though. The couple of times I've taken it it's been packed.
  3. Neat site YakuzaIce. Any idea what happened with the 82-story Bank of Southwest Tower or the 80-story Block 265 Tower? It says both were proposed but never built.
  4. I agree with the author on most points. I think Houston's diversity and low cost of living are what make this a great city. However, I don't agree with his comments on the mass transit system. Granted, some people feel we need mass transit to make this a "world class city", and that's not a good reason for building something. But as I see it, one of the biggest problems facing Houston is traffic. People who move out to the suburbs may have the nice yard and friendly neighbors, but they spend two or three hours a day commuting. That lowers the quality of life, and hence the value of living in Houston. Having a vibrant urban core with attractive parks, and a great mass transit system, will not only improve the quality of life for those of us that live here, but it will also make Houston more attractive to businesses and people who might consider moving here.
  5. If they work on 45, they should build it below-ground level like they're doing to 59. The pierce elevated is an eyesore.
  6. There's also a Lowes and Home Depot on 45 south at 610 which is pretty close. Not sure that I'd want a hardware superstore in Midtown. That's the kind of thing that belongs in the burbs. It would be nice to have a small local hardware store though, like a True value or Ace, as long as it's not a strip-mall style building.
  7. What most people don't realize is that, although oxygen is necessary to live, excess oxygen is not good for you. Breathing purified oxygen can irritate the respiratory system. In fact, people take antioxidants like vitamin E and C to prevent the free radicals caused by oxidation. Breathing this purified oxygen will do more harm then good to your health.
