  1. Anyone else have experience with Silestone? I thought it was great, but sold the house a year after installing it and don't have any knowledge of the long term performance.
  2. Are you kidding me? Since subways are WAAAAAAAY cool, Joe Q. will be riding that bad boy in style!
  3. One would think that liberals would use this silly episode as a lesson in how unfair it is to casually brand someone a racist. But somehow I doubt it.
  4. Was the store open when the fire started?
  5. I agree they are rediculous. Just as health concerns were rediculous in some other recent political brouhaha....
  6. You could have posted, "I plan to sprout wings and fly tomorrow," and it would have been less delusional.
  7. Or as I like to put it, a "three-comma number."
  8. I believe that is a future projection, not today's number.
  9. So wait a minute, I'm confused. Is commuter rail bad now because Culberson is supporting it? That seems to be the tone I'm getting from some of these posts.
  10. On any major transportation project, the design goes through several iterations, each with more detail than the previous one. The nominal percentage of the design reflects an approximation of the amount of the total design effort completed.
  11. 290 was just about shut down due to TxDOT's "accounting error" and there are very few people working on it right now. They are going to START the 30% design this summer.
  12. Keep in mind the plan is to also have 2 lanes in each direction of Hempstead Managed Lanes out to SH 99.
  13. This won't necessarily improve the Clips one iota. It won't be the first time they've had a No. 1 pick. Anyone know what Michael Olowokandi is doing these days
  14. Yeah, it couldn't be that a whole $hitload of his constituents drive on the freeway every day and he's listening to them.
  15. Here's the thread we had a few years back: http://www.houstonarchitecture.info/haif/i...?showtopic=7500
  16. I like listening to 610 in the afternoons because, while Matt Jackson seems somewhat buffoonish to me, the interaction between him and Rich is entertaining. I like the fact that the show isn't polished like the national shows because I like the feel of just a couple of guys sitting on the couch BS-ing. Adding in the local calls creates a wide range of opinions being presented as well. As far as Simmons, I like reading his pieces because while I don't root for the same teams he does, I can easily relate to the passion that he feels for his teams. That is why ESPN brought him on in the first place, not to be another do-it-all reporter, but to provide a passionate fan's perspective. To do that, his pieces have to focus on the teams he cares about. His job was never meant to be broad. I've been reading his stuff since he joined up at ESPN and I hardly miss it.
  17. I wouldn't call my V6 Camry a "muscle car" by any stretch of the imagination. But on Houston's freeways, the two extra cylinders can be just as important as the brakes, IMO. And I drive conservatively enough to still average 30.5 mpg, 15% over the EPA rating.
  18. Well, there's a new concept out there called "re-election."
  19. I think the problem with the Clippers is much less location than it is management (specifically, ownership).
  20. I thought "Wolf Corner" was Hwy 6 at FM 529. Hence the Langham Creek Lobos. I remember the 84 Lumber where the Bust Buy is now at the railroad tracks and 1960. We went on a field trip there as Cub Scouts.
  21. Give him a break. With only 46 posts, he's got to start bashing those evil Republican suburbanites to build his cred around here.
  22. A rail component has been a part of the US 290 project for over a decade now.
