Two cafeteria chains in Houston I remember are Wyatt's and Piccadilly. My parents would take us to the Wyatt's on 43rd at Ella occasionally for lunch after church on Sunday's. There was a fountain in the middle of the dinning room and an "attendant" always carried my tray to the table since I was just a little guy at the time. Those employees were invariably ladies wearing a dress with a white apron and a white folded cloth hat that looked quite a bit like the one my mother wore to work (she was a nurse).
I think there may still be a Piccadilly Cafeteria in Almeda Mall. I know there used to be one at its twin, Northwest Mall.
Wyatt's South Post Oak and West Bellfort closed like 15 to 18 yrs ago I remember going there about 7 to 10 time there was another one that was at OST and Griggs that closed like 2 to 4 yrs ago

The lady that left Annies opend Cues 1993 to 1995 South Post Oak & MC Dermed right next to the Chinese Buffet across the freeway from Whataburger and Kroger. Cues has much better food than Annies which has gone down hill in the last 5 to 7 yrs

What was the building - warehouse at 4154 W Bellfort originally used for when it was built?? I have lived in the down the street for 35 yrs and I can never remember it being used for much of anything. It is one of the weirdest looking building in the area still has the 50s to 60s look to the building.

The first one to close opened in the late 80s and early 90s West Bellfort and Gessner when Fondren South West started to go down hill it did not even last 5 yrs if I remember correctly nothing ever open in its place. 2nd one to close was the one Fondren and Bissonnet also in a ghetto area nothing open in it pace

Record Rack it is now a smoke shop I think. That use to be the best place to get records in the late 90s I got so many good deals there. In the early 2000s it was sold and the new owner tried to turn it into a rap hiphop vinyl record store that did not last a yr.

I am trying to put a list together of the best bang For your $$$ Neighborhoods these neighborhoods are just outside the beltway to inner loop.
Top Westbury
On The southwest just outside the loop close to everything. You can get a totally remodeled 3 or 4 -2 1800sftq to 2500sqft on 8000sqft to 9500 sqft lot for under $250k. You can even get fixer uppers in decent condition for $75k to $100k. This does not really include Westbury South only the part east of Landsdowne Dr
Willowbend
Great neighborhood less than a mile out side the loop on the southwest side. You can get a totally remodeled 3 or 4 - 2 2200sqft to 2500sqft 8000sqft to 9500sqft lot for $265k to $300k fixer uppers $175 to $225k
Riverside Terrace
Great neighborhood about 3 miles east of the med center south of Brase Bayou. You can get 3000sqft to 4000sqft fixer uppers $200k to $300k on large 10k to 18k sqft lots. You can even find newer built home with in the last 3 to 7 yrs for $250k to $350k. This is a great neighborhood for anybody looking for a old home that was built in 20s and 30s to fix up
Garden Villas
Airpot and Telephone Rd south of Sims Bayou this is a great quite tucked away neighborhood large lots. You can get 2000sqft to 3000sqft remodeled home on 15k to 40k sqft lot for $225k to $300k. You can get a 1700sqft to 3000sqft fixer upper on 15k to 40k sqft lot for $85k to $140k. This neighbor is just far enough away from Hobby that there should be no problem with noise from the planes and there is a lot of trees to help keep the noise down.
Glenbroke valley
Another great neighborhood just south of Hobby this has been designated a historic neighborhood homes built in the 50s and 60s. You can get remodeled 2000sqft to 4000sqft on 8000sqft to 1400sqft lot for $200k to $300k. Fixer upper 1800sqft to 2500sqft for $110k to $165k. It really depends one which side of Sims Bayou your looking at north you can get bigger house and much bigger lot south of the bayou house are 400qsft to 800sqft smaller and lots are 1500sqft to 3000sqft smaller.
Windsor Village
South Post Oak and Heatherbrook 77085 this neighborhood is only 5 or so miles from the med center. Neighborhood itself in not that bad really compared to other neighborhood close by. Some homes in this neighborhood a kinda junk some are pretty nice this neighborhood has not seen any contractors come through yet and flip some homes, I could see this happening within 5 yrs or so. You can get a nice 1500sqft to 2200sqft on 7000sqft to 9000sqft lot $75k to $90k. Fixer upper 1500sqft to 2200sqft on 7000sqft to 9000sqft lot $50k to $65k. The part north of Sims Bayou is the nicest part of the neighborhood once you go south of Tiffany it gets a little sketchy and it is not part of Windsor Village any more.
Meadows Place
Do not know much about this neighborhood in Fortbend county just west of 59 South of West Bellfort and South Kirkwood. I know most of the homes are $225k or and it is close to China town in Alief
Sageglen
Decent neighborhood Beltway 8 and Beamer close to 45 South. You can get remodeled 1700sqft to 2500sqft 7000sqft to 9500sft lot for 175k to $225k fixer upper 1700sqft to 2500sqft on 7000sqft to 9500sqft lot for $75k to $115k. This would be a nice neighborhood for anybody that works in Pasadena or Clear Lake.
Cambridge Glen
South Post Oak and Tidewater this small pocket neighborhood reminds me of Westbury but the homes are $50k to $125k cheaper. No contractors have flipped any homes in this neighborhood yet I could see this happening with in 5 yrs or so. You can get 1700sqft to 2500sqft on 7000sqft to 9500sqft lot for $85k to $125k. Fixer uppers 1700sqft to 2500sqft on 700sqft to 9500sqft lot $50k to $65k
BrentwoodHiram Clarke Rd and West Orem this neighborhood is decent really some parts are a little sketchy overall not that bad really. No Contractors have filled any homes yet I could see this happening in 5 yrs or so. You can get 1500sqft to 2200sqft on 7000sqft to 9500sqft lot for $50k to $85k
Brookefield
Hiram Clarke Rd and West Fuqua behind the Jack N Box south of sims bayou decent neighborhood Contracters are starting to flip homes in this neighborhood I have seen 3 flipped homes for sale in this neighrborhood for sale in the last yr. You can get 1500sqft to 2500sqft on 7000sqft to 9500sqft lot $50k to $90k. Once you get north of Sims bayou it gets a little sketchy
Meadowbrook Freeway
45 and Monroe West of 45 East of the bayou and Glenbrook Valley. I really do not know much about this neighborhood all homes under $200k and the homes look nice
77087 3 Or 4 Neighborhood combined
This are is East of Mykawa Rd West of Waltrip North of Sims Bayou South of Kingsway this area is like 3 or 4 differenet neighborhoods. Some parts are really nice other parts are not that great overall this is a great area. There is also a small part that is nice just north of Andover Park. You can get 1300sqft to 2800sqft on 6500sqft to 10sqft lot $70k to $125k fixer uppers the bigger homes and bigger lot ones are right next to Andover Park 1300sft to 3000sqft on 7000sqft to 15ksqft lot $40k to $150k
These numbers I got them for looking at house listings over the last 2 yr these numbers are not 100% accurate just what I have noticed. These neighborhood are the best bag for your $$$ I have seen from home listings and drive around most of these neighborhoods. If you want to add to these list plz do
