  1. They are going to build the momo-rail in the galleria area. I think down post oak. I was able to view some of the mono-rails future plans on the main Houston Metro site. Pretty Interesting.

Are you sure? I don't believe there are any plans to put monorail down post oak. I do believe BRT will go down it, later to be light rail (I think [about the second thing] but it will be BRT when it opens).

  2. Clearly, having one street that is a better candidate for urban development than any other in the city, and getting nothing after ten years of renewal but a feeble parking garage is disheartening to say the least.

While I agree with you, we have also seen 1000 main built, Metro administration building, the cathedral (one block off), Mckinney Place (ground level retail), got rid of a suburban McDonalds, this is all stuff from about 2002 till now. I can't remember what may have happened from '95 till '02. I also think a few buildings have been redone for residential use.

  3. I would assume that once Boulevard Place gets underway (anyone know when?) as well as all the other places along post oak, high dollar residents who move in will not be pleased with the older complexes near Uptown Park. I would say that in 5-10 years the the three places mentioned in the beginning of the thread will be torn down.

But here is the question: many units in those complexes are owned by private indivduals. so how does that work? they (the home owners) would have to get a huge payoff, right? maybe i need to buy a few! lol

That is exactly the thing, they are not going to tear down older complexes just because the new residents don't like them.

  4. Have any of you noticed the new bus stop waiting areas in Uptown? They sure are nice. I know they have been there awhile now, but I like them.

Yeah, I think they look really good. Much better than the Downtown ones IMO. I mean I like the downtown ones, especially when you compare them to most other bus stops in Houston (namely the brown/blackish ones with the white bubble dome things on top, just not for me).

  5. I just have to get in my two cents about Frys because I build computers and wouldn't consider going anywhere else. It's not the most shopper-friendly store for those who are technically-challenged, but you absolutely cannot beat the prices. That's why they locate themselves on the outskirts of major cities. Their rent is low and I'm willing to drive for the savings.

While I agree, I think you must have quoted the wrong person.

As I said in another thread, don't believe everything you read.

I beleive them. Every other project in Houston is known to be on hold, so it's nothing new to me.

People and their wishful thinking I tell ya.

semipro, what the hell are you talking about?

  7. Honesty, do you think it will ever start?

The only project in Houston that I trust right now is the Memorial City Center thats getting built. The reason why is because they announced it and they began construction about a month latter. Now that is quick action!

Well rereading that thread, it was annouced in March, but doesn't sound like it started construction till June. Also, do you not trust any of the other projects under construction around town?

  8. Still that is alot of projects and that makes me not believe any of the new projects proposed for Houston.

I have also heard on another fourm that the Boulevard Place mixuse project in Uptown, and the Downtown Pavilions have both been put on hold.

Don't believe everything you read, especially not from some random person on a forum.

I mean if I said Pavillions is going to start construction tomorrow would you believe me?

  9. Exactly, since when do busses not count, not to mention we are aggressively expanding the rail system. Well since red mentioned the cleanliness I guess I can account for most of the busses in SW Houston. I have taken it about two or three times a week to work for many years and I have never run across a dirty bus.
