They are going to build the momo-rail in the galleria area. I think down post oak. I was able to view some of the mono-rails future plans on the main Houston Metro site. Pretty Interesting.
Are you sure? I don't believe there are any plans to put monorail down post oak. I do believe BRT will go down it, later to be light rail (I think [about the second thing] but it will be BRT when it opens).

Was this parking garage designed by Phillip Johnson by any chance, perhaps along with his design for Penzoil Place and not built until serveral decades later?
I highly doubt it. But I wonder what a parking garage by him would look like.

Clearly, having one street that is a better candidate for urban development than any other in the city, and getting nothing after ten years of renewal but a feeble parking garage is disheartening to say the least.
While I agree with you, we have also seen 1000 main built, Metro administration building, the cathedral (one block off), Mckinney Place (ground level retail), got rid of a suburban McDonalds, this is all stuff from about 2002 till now. I can't remember what may have happened from '95 till '02. I also think a few buildings have been redone for residential use.

I would assume that once Boulevard Place gets underway (anyone know when?) as well as all the other places along post oak, high dollar residents who move in will not be pleased with the older complexes near Uptown Park. I would say that in 5-10 years the the three places mentioned in the beginning of the thread will be torn down.
But here is the question: many units in those complexes are owned by private indivduals. so how does that work? they (the home owners) would have to get a huge payoff, right? maybe i need to buy a few! lol
That is exactly the thing, they are not going to tear down older complexes just because the new residents don't like them.

Isn't that location right next to Spec's?
Yeah it is.
Unless it is the block that is one past it.
-
Cool looking project.
And yeah is that retail at the bottom?

Anyhow how about naming it EOGA Houston East Of Galleria Houston
I hope you are not serious. Why does it seem that lately when people try and rename an area, they have to make it an acronym.

That's sometimes an indication of a spyware infection. Are you on Windows?
I had a similar problem with two of Subdue's pics in the unbuilt houston thread. It had never happened before or since then.

Have any of you noticed the new bus stop waiting areas in Uptown? They sure are nice. I know they have been there awhile now, but I like them.
Yeah, I think they look really good. Much better than the Downtown ones IMO. I mean I like the downtown ones, especially when you compare them to most other bus stops in Houston (namely the brown/blackish ones with the white bubble dome things on top, just not for me).

I just have to get in my two cents about Frys because I build computers and wouldn't consider going anywhere else. It's not the most shopper-friendly store for those who are technically-challenged, but you absolutely cannot beat the prices. That's why they locate themselves on the outskirts of major cities. Their rent is low and I'm willing to drive for the savings.
While I agree, I think you must have quoted the wrong person.

since 2000, about 25 over 12 stories (most 20+). I am sure I missed some though.

As I said in another thread, don't believe everything you read.
I beleive them. Every other project in Houston is known to be on hold, so it's nothing new to me.People and their wishful thinking I tell ya.
semipro, what the hell are you talking about?
-
No, but that has been like that for quite some time.
Main, Capitol, Texas, and Fannin border the shomrock site.
-
Honesty, do you think it will ever start?
The only project in Houston that I trust right now is the Memorial City Center thats getting built. The reason why is because they announced it and they began construction about a month latter. Now that is quick action!
Well rereading that thread, it was annouced in March, but doesn't sound like it started construction till June. Also, do you not trust any of the other projects under construction around town?
-
Still that is alot of projects and that makes me not believe any of the new projects proposed for Houston.
I have also heard on another fourm that the Boulevard Place mixuse project in Uptown, and the Downtown Pavilions have both been put on hold.
Don't believe everything you read, especially not from some random person on a forum.
I mean if I said Pavillions is going to start construction tomorrow would you believe me?

i went by the sales office over the weekend. The product is actually very nice. Definitely a step above Randall's other projects. He has over 60 deposits for only 75 units.
Wow, he already has 80% reserved? I wonder how long till construction begins. It seems there was more of an interest in this building compared to empire.
-
Stop lyin to yourselves, this project is as dead as the shamrock. Do us all favor and kill this thread too.
Oh no, semipro has hacked someones account
But seriously what proof do you have of this, I would assume none.

Probably, Orion is at 8 Asbury place I believe.

I actually posted it at SSP first, but it says I did it at 05:37 which is weird because it isn't even that time yet.

Exactly, since when do busses not count, not to mention we are aggressively expanding the rail system. Well since red mentioned the cleanliness I guess I can account for most of the busses in SW Houston. I have taken it about two or three times a week to work for many years and I have never run across a dirty bus.

Seattle had plans to extend it. I can't remember how much, but it was alot (I want to say $12,000,000,000 but I am not totally sure). But the citizens recentally voted to stop it.
