  1. I lived in an apartment and we had basic cable. Just like some stations get WGN, El Paso gets KTLA for free. I enjoyed watching the weather and traffic and news. :P

Mountain time zone production and airing shows out there is weird out there.

When Star Trek Deep Space Nine came on we got it at 10:30 PM on ABC (on other affiliates it came on UPN) whereas Voyager came on UPN with no problem. (which we'd get Voyager at 11:30 AM on a Saturday)

  2. We had a Ruby Tuesdays' on Westheimer (near Toys R US)

Hardees...mm..not sure. I don't think we ever had a Carl's Jr. but I do remember when I lived in El Paso we got "KTLA" (for free) and I'd watch the Carl Jr. Ads (if its not in your face, it doesn't belong on your sandwich) -I think that was the ad.

From what I hear Hardee's sounds gross. I remember having Del Taco around the corner from me. (I lived in Fondren Southwest) I used to go to Mr. Gatti's by Braes Bayou (I think)..

What I remember of Mr. Gatti's is that they had a big screen and they'd show "The little Rascals" and old newsreels.

I remember my bday party at Showbiz (with the bear) :)

I think its cool we have the One of a kind "Whataburger" :)

and our Kolaches (which is now expanding)...even though Canadian I wish we had a Tim Hortons!

I saw Taco Bueno in the metroplex.

  3. They're Common Nighthawks - small, swift birds with swept-back wings. You can sometimes spot them at dusk and dawn. They make a small 'cheep' sound that seems to come from nowhere and everywhere. Because they're swift!

You'll also sometimes hear a solitary bird singing in a tree at night, usually in a well-lit area. I've read in the Chronicle that these are young male mockingbirds who are seeking to establish their own territory. Seems artificial lighting has changed their natural habits.

So they chirp at 4 AM?

  4. I have been hearing this one chirping sound in Sugar Land. I was joking with a coworker saying, "I bet all the other birds are telling him to shut up and go to bed!" and this was EAAAAAAAAARLY in the morning! Its just one bird (or whatever) chirping...continously. I was thinking the bird had insomnia! LOL!

  5. ByeBye "Princes/Fudruckers" I knew thee!! Seriously...my dad won't even TOUCH that area on Sunday's anymore!! We used to go so much he knew the guy who got interviewed on TV.

and my dad wanted to open a "Nathan's Hotdog" resturant in that strip center! (near Lakewood formly Compaq Center)

  6. I go to Tinseltown first showing on a Saturday. All the kids are in bed. I don't bother go after 5 PM (prices are too steep like most movie theatres) and driving all the way down to Alamo is well I don't know I see Alamo as a date place and more often then not I'm going to theatres by myself. Sad I know. I feel if I go to Alamo drafthouse I want to go there to spend time with a friend and eat.

I know where your talking about now. Carrillon Center. I used to work at the Musical theatre (next to the Subway)

I hardly go down Seagler I guess that's why I haven't heard about it. BUT its closer then I thought. WHOHOO! :)

I heard West Oaks raised their rent (which is one of the reasons one of the cel phone kiosks who used to be there pulled out) she was given last min notice.

What does West Oaks need that they can improve on other then the that listed?

  7. What's around Seagler...Sorry for a stupid question. I actually meant down near my way (I am more closer to the Dairy Ashford/Wilcrest area)

I go to West Oaks frequently. Even though Memorial City is the same distance probably from where I am, I think West Oaks is more of my "home mall" y'know?

I do love the "Hot Topics" they have at West Oaks though and the remodeling is beautiful!!! :)

too bad there is no book store (formly B.Daltons), no music store (Wherehouse Music) and no toy store (Kaybee) and I heard Disney Store is next! :(

I'm not a big clothes shopper but sadly there is nothing for me to really look at in West Oaks. Mostly shoes and clothes. The theatre is nice but I go to Tinseltown more so then Alamo.

  8. Well, it may be good to have both together.  In general, many elderly people love chicken.

I see the line up at Popeye's all the time.

Also, isn't this like the 4th or 5th retirement home in the area.

Would be a bigger crowd if there was a Bingo Hall next to Raising Canes! ;)

    LOL!!

I guess I only go to the Popeyes in Sugar Land (but never really saw many older people eating chicken.)

Isn't there a retirement home on Richmond next to the Super Walmart in the area? (a new Retirement center) but I see where your getting at with the retirement centers being built up.

We need an outside Arby's in the Westheimer area (and Dairy Queen)!!! BUT I am glad an "Applebee's" is Popping up at West Oaks Mall!!! About time the mall had something on the property that was new!!! :) -and I can't wait for the "DQ" at West Oaks too!! Too bad the mall has gotten to be a bit too boring for me :(

Its mostly all clothes retail. They got rid of Carlton cards and Kaybee Toys :(

  9. My dads business (I work for) sells meat (good meat) to "Pub Fiction" TOO Weird y'all dabbled in this!

I remember the owner calling work for a coworker and I thought the guy on the phone kept saying, "Pulp Fiction"!! LOL! and yet he's VERY cool! (actually called today) ...too funny!!!

I swear y'all get more into my life then I could want! LOL!

  10. In the 1960's my dad said Houston had a unique dialing code (like a bunch of letters instead of numbers) can someone give me any more info on what that was like. I'm REALLY curious!

He found an old menu from "Juniors" and when the Astrodome opened which had these "letters" instead of numbers. I hope someone knows what I'm talking about. Its hard to explain. :-/
