Yankee_in_TX
I know all this information must be kept confidential if I check the box. Any reason not to fill it out and drop it in the mail?
BryanS
Don't do it. You'd be giving them the rope to hang yourself from...

TheNiche
I know all this information must be kept confidential if I check the box. Any reason not to fill it out and drop it in the mail? It'll be kept off the internet, but it won't be strictly confidential. It'll pop up at ARB hearings, for example, where they've used it as a comp. You should go ahead and send it in, though. You're probably going to have to show them your HUD statement anyway to get your market value adjusted during tax season.
kat_zor
I got this letter and form from HCAD asking me for information about our recent house purchase. It doesn't seem to be required that I fill it out (it's phrased more like a request). My husband and I are new to Houston so this is the first time I've seen it. Some of the questions seem like things they should already know (such as the sales price), and others are obviously fishing for information that could be used to increase the assessed value (were any repairs completed). So, should I fill it out? I've attached the letter and form (with identifying information removed). Thanks for your input,KatieDocument.pdf Edited October 12, 2009 by kat_zor

tanith27
We bought a new place last November and I didn't send anything in until they appraised the home way higher than the purchase.

kat_zor
Similar topics combined..Thanks. Sounds like there are varying opinions on whether to do it or not. I think I'll hold off on providing the additional information.
