6025 Richmond Ave

Recommended Posts

6025 Richmond Ave was home to Diablo Loco, a sports bar and grill that closed its doors over the summer. It opened in either 2013 or 2014.

Prior to Diablo Loco, jazz club and restaurant the Horn operated here.

To my recollection, other businesses operating on this property since the 2000's were: Cabo and Billy Blues.

The new restaurant taking over Diablo Loco's former home at 6025 Richmond may be named Will Call. Or it's possibly named Rock House (or may be spelled Rockhouse).

Rock House is the latest dining concept from Paper Chase Hospitality, the group behind restaurant the Warwick at 5888 Westheimer. The menu will center on Southern cuisine.

More from Rock House's Instagram bio:

"Inspired by robust southern cuisine we present a dining experience featuring comfort foods, hand crafted libations & live music."

This may be a proposed rendering of Rock House (or Rockhouse). This is the Southern restaurant from Paper Chase Hospitality (The Warwick) in the works for 6025 Richmond Ave next year.

The rendering was uploaded to NHI Design's website. Although Rock House is not listed, the name on the project lists Paper Chase. But the building layout seems to mirror the one at 6025 Richmond Avenue. Also, the project is listed as "starting soon."

NHI Design is the interior designer behind Rare, Lost & Found, Kamp, the Warwick, and Bar 5015's remodel. Alife Hospitality and Steve Rogers mostly hire NHI Design for their restaurants and bars.

Paper Chase Hospitality sent a press release today announcing their next restaurant: Rockhouse. The estimated opening is early 2023.

Some info from Houston Business Journal:

"Rob Wright, Mazen Baltagi, Steven Rogers, and Kurt Agomuo, the owners behind The Warwick restaurant in the Galleria area, which opened in April, plan to open a new concept, dubbed Rockhouse Southern Kitchen, at 6025 Richmond Ave. near Fountain View Drive."

"'We want to go back to the roots of Southern culture, where music and good food are the celebration,' Wright said. 'We have created an experience where our culinary farm-to-table offerings, hand-crafted cocktails and nightly musical oblations will leave you coming back for more.'"

"Nicki Dooms of Houston-based NHI Designs is overseeing the design of Rockhouse Southern Kitchen. Wright said the restaurant will feature an outdoor patio, a large bar and an outdoor stage for live music."

I passed by today and it looks like they painted the exterior black, it didn't look like any major renovations going on yet. So far, the exterior looks nothing like they're rendering.

Well, the rendering may have been uploaded to NHI Design's site in early 2022, according to the date posted in the image url. It's possible that was an earlier version and lots of changes could have been made later. After all, Rockhouse formally announced the new concept in the last week. That's almost a year later after the rendering was uploaded.
