Turning Galveston Trolley Into Full LRT

Recommended Posts

Recently I was reading up on the Pittsburgh Light Rail, and how it evolved from the old streetcar system. It started in the 1980s and it wasn't until 1993 that one line got full LRT transit. The METRORail will never reach Galveston, and since Galveston's trolley has been rendered AWOL since Ike, why not take the leap and turn it into a full, dual-track LRT system that not only goes through Galveston but the greater Texas City metro? A commuter rail can take people from Houston to this area. I haven't made a proposed map yet, but I think its a cool idea. What do you think?
