People, not experts mind you, wannabe experts it seems, were calling in to the radio shows saying thing like, " I don't understand why didn't they use the foam to quickly put out the fire, instead of using water, which took longer to put out the fire ? It looks like the British Govt. was showing those images to perpetuate the fear and worries of the British people." Well, a firefighter from Boots and Coots, called in and explained to the previous callers that," The only way to fight a gas fire is with water. You have to contain the propane bottles that had open valves going at full blast inside the SUV, and if you use foam to smother the fire that the gas is still leaking and has potential to blow up again, so you just keep pooring water on everything around the fire until it burns itself out.
