Does anyone have any experience with the apartment complex called The Terraces on Brompton located at 7315 Brompton Street? The apartments are located just 3 blocks west of the Texas Medical Center. I wonder who was the original developer? The Finger Companies, The Farb Companies, Martin Fein Interests, or The Dinerstein Companies? So many of the original Houston multifamily developers built those old school garden complexes scattered around. I would assume this is a cheaper alternative to living closer to the TMC. In due time, 10 to 15 years, this will be demolished for a luxury 7 story building. Website: https://theterracesonbrompton.com/

New plat that was approved. Looks like it could be a small apartment project. Edit: Apparently it wasn't approved because it's still up for the next Planning Commission meeting.

I was browsing the newspaper The Rice Thresher dated November 14, 1986 and came across an advertisement for Bissonnet Plaza Apartments located at 5104 Buffalo Speedway. There were two different apartment complexes on each side of the street. Looks to be have built in the 1950s and demolished in the late 1980s or 1990s. The two shopping centers were built in replace of these apartments? Plaza In The Park Shopping Center and Terrace Shops Shopping Center. Any pictures of the apartment complex? Did anyone happen to live here? These prices listed! $260 for a studio apartment in Greenway Plaza/West University? 37 years later and I'm sure that $260 apartment would be $1,260. So crazy! So, browsing around Google Earth the other day (I think I was trying to locate the location of the "mystery photo" to no avail) I found another mystery I wanted to ask. It's these apartments, near MacGregor and 288. I want to say that they were projects of some sort, though they had an awfully short life--by 1978 the ones that weren't demolished for 288 (the 1950s aerial has modern-day roads overlayed on it to help you figure out where this is) were being torn down (you can see the partial demolition on Google Earth), and by the 1980s, they were completely gone. The large footprint and the short life suggests they were projects of some sort, but it still intrigued me nonetheless--can someone help me out?

Highrise Tower posted a topic in Going Up!
A Plan Review Permit was pulled yesterday for a multifamily apartment complex located at 5811 Winsome Lane. -
https://www.multihousingnews.com/dagostino-expands-houston-footprint-with-300-unit-project/ D’Agostino Cos. has broken ground on the 300-unit The Reserve at Cypress in Cypress, Texas. JLL acted on behalf of the developer in June 2021 to acquire the plot. Soon after, Oden Hughes Taylor commenced work on the project, which is slated for completion early next year. The community is set to encompass a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom units, averaging 964 square feet. Plans call for unit interiors to include full-size washers and dryers, and high-end finishes. The property will also feature a pool, outdoor dining and entertainment areas, and fitness center. Located 20130 Schiel Road, The Reserve at Cypress will be some 32 miles northwest of downtown Houston, roughly 6 miles of Cypress Towne Center, and 3 miles northeast of Fairfield Town Center. Other shopping, dining and entertainment options will be within a 2-mile radius. Looks like Houston Pavilions is already making changes GlobeSt.com EXCLUSIVE: 394-Unit Downtown Landmark Up for Sale By Amy Wolff Sorter Last updated: January 16, 2006 09:27am HOUSTON-The 394-unit Houston House, a 31-story, 40-year-old landmark, has gone on the block for $28 million. With a $200-million, mixed-use neighbor on the horizon, the time has finally come to end an 11-year hold, the owner's broker says. Houston House, located at 1617 Fannin St., will be marketed exclusively to condominium converters. "Everyone in town has been trying to get hold of this building for years, mainly because the area is booming and it's across the street from what's likely to become a retail-and-office complex," William Forrest, senior investment adviser in Houston for Sperry Van Ness, tells GlobeSt.com. "The location is likely to generate a lot of demand from the residential side, from people who will want to walk to work and their entertainment." Just recently, William Denton of California and Geoffrey Jones, a local developer and broker, paid more than $20 million for three blocks of buildings to develop Houston Pavilions, a 360,000-sf project with high-end retail, entertainment, condominium and office space. The development site is bordered by Main, Caroline, Dallas and Polk streets. As a result, demand is booming for residential properties in the neighborhood. "There aren't many 30-story residential properties in Downtown Houston. Most of them are loft conversions," says Forrest, who with Sperry Van Ness' Bruce Ripper, is representing Houston House's seller. "Basically, whoever gets this and converts it will make a mint." Forrest says Houston House's owner, H.H. Paseo, a local general partnership led by Larry Hill, purchased the property in 1985 for a long-time hold. "Right now, they're in a position to sell it," he says, citing the difference in its marketability from a few years ago. Not only has the Houston Pavilions' plan made the 86%-leased multifamily complex a hot property, but several of its owners are ready to retire from real estate investment, according to Forrest. Houston House, situated on a little more than a half acre, is a mix of 40 efficiencies, 257 one-bedroom units and 57 two-bedroom apartments. Units range from 428 sf to a 4,150-sf loft. Monthly rents go from $750 to $4,150. http://www.globest.com/news/454_454/houston/142011-1.html
