  1. This is a small project going on at M. D. Anderson in Med center and thought I'd get a few shots from my Ipad.
  2. A new retail building is going up on West Bellfort. Lots of biotechnology companies around Kirby, West Bellfort, Willowbend, and Stella Link. Edit: It looks like MD Anderson occupies a few suites here! MD Anderson has recently occupied 21,220 SF and 24,875 SF at 9220 and 9230 Kirby. The architect for the interior remodels was Powers Brown Architecutre.
  3. There is an active MD Anderson Master Plan thread that will span the next 8-years on HAIF. The Master Plan "closes out" in 2030. https://www.houstonarchitecture.com/haif/topic/45347-md-anderson-tmc-master-facilities-framework-2030/#comment-600706 Will it be hard to keep track of individual buildings in a thread that discusses multiple, 5, buildings? When searching around HAIF, would it be hard to find information and pictures for one, particular, building that is mixed in with 10-years of construction photos of multiple buildings? This topic serves as one, sole, building. The MD Anderson Inpatient Bed Tower. The building looks to have one long podium base with two vertical towers integrated. The UT M. D. Anderson Cancer Center is preparing to construct a new inpatient bed tower to be located proximate to and interconnected with the institution's Main Building complex, on a site currently occupied by the Percy and Ruth Leggett Jones Basic Research Building, the Bates-Freeman research building, and the Anderson Central Building. This topic serves as one, sole, building. The MD Anderson Ambulatory Clinical Building 3 (AKA 3ACB, or ACB3.) 3ACB will consist of 1,500,000 GSF of clinical and departmental program space located on nineteen floors above grade and 300,000 GSF of below-grade parking adding another 785 parking spaces. The project is also expected to include the construction of two seven-story connectors that will complete a circulation route between 2/3 ACB, the Mays Clinic, and the Duncan Building, forming a complete quadrangle around the central parking structure. The top of the parking structure will align with the existing exterior plaza decks of the Mays Clinic and the Duncan Building to form a raised exterior garden.

This topic serves as one, sole, building. The MD Anderson Ambulatory Clinical Building 2 (AKA 2ACB, or ACB2.) Consistent with the institution's Master Facilities Framework 2030, UT M.D. Anderson Cancer Center is proposing to construct Ambulatory Clinical Building 2 (2ACB.) 2ACB will consist of 950,000 GSF of clinical and departmental program space located on seventeen floors above grade and 550,000 GSF of parking located on three floors below grade as well as a central parking structure. In total, there will be 1,500 parking spaces added on five levels. The project is also expected to include the construction of two seven-story connectors that will complete a circulation route between 2/3 ACB, the Mays Clinic, and the Duncan Building, forming a complete quadrangle around the central parking structure. 6. I've always wanted to take a photograph of this building. Finally did today! F. O'Neil "Neil" Griffin Conference and Education Center located at 7455 Fannin St. along Knight Road. This building is apart of the UT Research Park Complex.
  7. I've always wondered about this building. It's a medical office building located at 6655 Travis Street in the TMC. MD Anderson has a suite located inside of the building. HTA Development acquired the property recently too. HTA Development has been grabbing a lot of medical buildings in the Houston area as of late. While reading the Loopnet listing I noticed there is major capital improvements planned in 2022. Apparently it's connected to the Hilton Hotel next door. Very cool! https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/6655-Travis-St-Houston-TX/24019396/
  8. I was looking at an MD Anderson map and noticed they own this building. I drove by and surely enough there was an Anderson no trespassing sign. This building is down the street from TMC3. I can see MDA buying an adjoining parcel and building something tall here. In due time!
  9. This old MDA warehouse looks in bad shape. It's mostly vacant? I never see much activity here. I stopped by this weekend to take pictures. Two addresses are listed, officially by MD Anderson. 3111 Corder Street and 3115 Corder Street
  10. I stopped by the warehouse development this weekend. Looks like the street signage went under a change recently. There is a temporary sticker place over the top.
  11. I've been wanting to see the Anderson labs on El Rio. Stopped by this weekend to take photos. From what I can tell the addresses are 8000 - 8080 El Rio Street. There are several multi-building warehouse campuses on El Rio street. One is MD Anderson's, the other is a ProLogis development, and the other is TBD (haven't researched far enough.) The El Rio buildings are BioTech labs hosting lots of pharmaceutical companies. The whole area outside of TMC proper is medical-relating real estate. W. Bellfort, Fannin, Kirby, Willowbend, and El Rio is just a few streets that are populated with BioTech.
  12. MD Anderson Main Building At 1515 Holcombe Blvd. Noticed a near $2 million renovation project for MDACC's Main Building at 1515 Holcombe Blvd.
  13. The name is Gimbel Building. https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/sites/default/files/opinion-files/opinion/1962/ww-1369.pdf "An official opinion of your office is requested on the following factual situation in connection with the administration of the Estate of Mose A. Gimbel, deceased, wherein The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute has been designated as a beneficiary pursuant to paragraph 4 of the will which reads: "'It Is my will and I do hereby provide that my said Trustee shall hold and administer my estate for one year after the death of my said sister, or until the New Medical Center adjoining Hermann Hospital is developed, when my remaining estate shall be liquidated and my entire estate remaining estate shall be used for the erection of a building In said Medical Center, said building to be used for the purpose of advancing the cure of cancer; said building to be dedicated in memory of my beloved parents, Louis and Amelia Gimbel.' "Mr. Gimbel of Houston, Harris County, Texas, executed his will on August 9, 1950, in conformity with law and later on October 7, 1954, executed a codicil. The will was admitted to probate in October, 1958, in the Probate Court of Harris County, Texas. The Executors, the Texas National Rank of Houston, who is also the Trustee under Honorable J. C. Dolley, page 2 (w-1369) said will, and Herbert S. Gimbel of Miami, Florida, have designated The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute as the institution to receive the remainder of the estate. Present plans call for a new building on the north end of the Clinical Services Wing which will have seven floors with approximately 4,200 square feet of space to each floor, giving a total additional area of approximately 29,400 square feet. This building will be erected on a basement and ground floor which was provided in an earlier construction program. It will be erected as a separate building and operated as an Integral part of the M. D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute, an Institution established for the purpose of research for advancing the cure of cancer. The building will be dedicated to the memory of the parents of Mose A. Gimbel, namely, Louis and Amelia Gimbel. There is attached to this request for your information a brochure containing the construction plan, the various departments to be housed in the building, together with a data sheet containing general information as to the organizational framework of The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute.
  14. https://www.mdanderson.org/research/departments-labs-institutes/institutes/duncan-family-institute.html The Duncan Family Institute for Cancer Prevention and Risk Assessment, formed in 2008 through a generous gift from the Duncan Family, is advancing the science and practice of cancer prevention by accelerating the discovery and translation of new knowledge about cancer risk factors and developing innovative ways to reduce risk and prevent cancer while expanding our studies to attack multiple risk factors using complementary strategies. The Duncan Family Institute serves to foster collaboration aimed at breaking new ground in cancer prevention. Surprised we don't have a thread for this key building. There is about to be 3 structures built around it to form a centralized campus. I'm not sure what this campus is called? It's located within the North Campus. Shown as Phase 2 in this master plan.
  15. Noticed this completed development on Medistar's website. https://medistarcorp.com/completed/ Completed in 2010, Medistar developed St. Luke's Sugar Land Hospital and Medical Plaza as a five-story, 220,000 square foot hospital. The hospital is complemented by a five-story, 125,000 square foot medical office building featuring a linear accelerator to support MD Anderson Cancer Center, a major tenant in the MOB.
  16. The Board of Regents of The University of Texas System has for sale, 68.666 acres out of 717.3 acres, adjacent to Buescher State Park in Smithville Texas. The sale of additional land may be considered. The land is improved with an approximately 150,000 square foot basic life science laboratory research park, including laboratories, vivarium, office, conference and other support spaces. The property may only be used for research purposes. https://www.utsystem.edu/offices/real-estate/property/68666-acres-improved-basic-life-sciences-research-park-smithville-texas
  17. Today I gave blood at the MD Anderson Blood Donor Center at 2555 Holly Hall street. Very friendly staff and very easy to give blood! My collection of MD Anderson swag is growing!
  18. Anyone remember details about this? I was trying to see if there were any concept renderings. This was going to be located to where the (now) the UT Research Park Complex is. All the TMC players were involved. This was the original TMC3 if you will. This project was proposed in 2001. I'll post a few articles for reference.
  19. First recognized their land a few years ago. This is across the street from the new Blossom Hotel and also their Mid Campus Admin building. One day, MDACC will run out of room and build on this land. Looks like there are two or three businesses remaining. Might be waiting until they can grab the whole piece? My visit from earlier in the week:
  20. New security gate installation registered with TDLR. Anderson owns a vacant parcel next to this. We should see an expansion of the MSF building or a whole new project.
  21. I've been watching this for a few months. Been meaning to make a thread. https://transwestern.com/property/8515-fannin-street
  22. From today's Memorial section of the Chronicle. http://www.chron.com/neighborhood/memorial/news/article/Corridor-to-develop-master-plan-5576265.php The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center is planning a West Campus along Park Row to the east of the Addicks Park and Ride.
  23. Do we know what's happening with TAMU's old Institute of Biosciences and Technology building? When Innovation Plaza was announced, I believe this was covered. Medistar grabbed it right?
  24. Wonder why they are unloading this property? I guess they cannot buy the next door parcels. The lot is too small to develop into anything worth while. MD Anderson still owns a bunch of vacant land in the area. Dreyfus, Lyndon, Leehall, Bertner, Fannin, OST, etc. https://www.utsystem.edu/offices/real-estate/property/1113-st-agnes-street The Board of Regents of The University of Texas System has for sale the surface estate only in one lot, located in Houston, Harris County, Texas. The 5,000 square foot interior lot is located at 1113 St. Agnes Street, between Fannin Street and Bertner Avenue, south of Braeswood Boulevard.*
