    Hello guys and gals. Dont know if I mentioned before, but I too live in the "hood", in the Ventana. I LOVE all the construction in midtown/montrose/4th ward/ river oaks/ upper kirby/galleria. This area is becoming more and more dense by the day, definitely a step in the right direction. I like too imagine every day I drive through the area, what it would/could look like in the next 5/10/15/20 years and the way it looks like its going, these areas (central houston, including EaDo, Downtown, midtown, and the aforementioned areas) could almost entirely be high rises after many years of this same type of growth (barring neighborhoods like river oaks and the like where the single family homes will probably never be torn down for a high rise). Even still, that prospect is very possible and has me salivating at the mouth to dream of one day seeing my city so dense. /happy rant So anyway, has anyone tried Piola? I passed by the block today and saw the final store front of that block being worked on, very nice! That little area is quite the walkable neighborhood now.

    Yes, renovations have been going on for a couple months already. The crane was there to put up 2 new ac chillers. The renovations started on the 30th floor and they are working their way down. Crews are also on the 8th and 9th floors, which house the gym, laundromat and basketball court. Debbie says they are going to fix the basketball court and turn it into a full court with two goals, and the workout area will be modeenized and have flat screen tvs. Also the huge apartment on 9 will be opened up and turned into a liesure area, wifi hotspot and bbq area. There are pics of the renderings in the lobby, i will post those later tonight. Source: ive lived here for 6 years

    I dont think the opinions of the ten people in this thread are going to matter/change too much of downtowns lighting.

    I read all these posts and then walked in with a bottle of wine last night, as did a few other guys in line, and we were all REJECTED. Manager: "Sorry, you guys cant bring dat in here" Me: "I thought it was byob?" Other guy: "yea me too, i read that on Yelp" Manager: "Yea, dat was two monds ahgo, before we had our ligghur license" Fail. Still ate some pizza though, it was alright. I wasnt blown away.

    Because they would build on top of the zoo and somehow the lions would be released into the hospitals instead of transferred to another zoo or sanctuary?

    Or is there some kind of legality preventing that from ever happening? TMC's expanding at a break neck pace and running out of room. Peering into the future, if it continues to expand as such, I wonder what the landscape will look like in another 20 years.

    With the plethora of surface lots in downtown, Ive often pondered the same thing myself. My assumption has always been that, knowing Houstons history of demolishing historic structures, several of those lots probably used to be old circa 20's or 30's buildings. Im pretty sure there has to be some sort of map or grid of downtown that shows what old buildings used to be up on what lots, maybe even with pictures. If anyone knew where to find out it would probably be a poster/s on this site.
