  1. When I am replying using the 'full editor', the Insert link icon seems to be broken. The pop up window it gives is skewed off to the left and I can't seem to paste anything into its entry boxes. I can't even type into them. Hope you can fix that, or tell me how to make it work, because I use this feature frequently. thanks.
  2. Well, if you think they are bad now, you should have seen them a few months ago. That was before they retimed the last eastbound light on 518 before going under the 288 underpass. It used to be on a 20 second timer, and that was just not long enough, causing the intersection of 518 and Business Center to get gridlocked all the time. That light is now on a 30 second timer now, which has improved the traffic flow alot. I agree there is still room for improvement in the light timings.
  3. The Cracker Barrel is scheduled to open on Sept. 7, 2009. At least that is what the CB website says: http://www.crackerbarrel.com/tempa.cfm?doc_id=18
  4. On August 3rd, the Pearland City council has an agenda item to discuss the possible annexation of land south of Southern Trails (west side), and 1000' south of Bailey Rd. I will try to follow up on this in the weeks ahead. Here is the link where I found out about this (look on page 8, comment 9). http://www.groupbuilder.net/uploads/City_of_Pearland/July_13_2009_Council_Agenda.pdf
  5. Are you familiar with the concept of Homeowners Associations (HOAs)? Every MPC in Houston has one (at least all the ones that I know of). Residents living in MPCs must abide by the Covenants, Codes, and Regulations (CCRs) that the HOA has adopted. As was stated above, this can be things as simple as being forced to cut your grass when it gets too high. There are many pros and cons of living in a community with an HOA. For example, visit this next link and read some of the many comments: http://blogs.chron.com/pearland/2009/07/inside_pearland_wants_to_hear_1.html#comments Also: HOAs charge residents an annual fee, which is usually several hundred dollars. Residents must pay this fee, or the HOA can take legal action. Tip: When you get serious about buying into an MPC, have your sales agent or other rep obtain a copy of the HOA's CCRs. Read them first before deciding if that MPC is right for you. So many people don't do this, and later regret it.
  6. I found another pdf file for this project on the city of Manvel's site. It has a fairly decent site plan for Sedona Lakes inside it. See it here: http://www.cityofman...d=577&Itemid=40.
  7. residents of Southern Trails in Pearland

  8. They opened one up in Pearland a couple of months ago. It has reasonable prices (when you factor in the free bread). It has a good family atmosphere. There is even a private room for large parties to rent. The food is decent, too. When yours opens you should try it - at least once.
  9. I think some thugs decided to use the distraction of the holiday to target some of our west side neighborhoods. Late Saturday night a couple of cars parked on a street in Southern Trails were burglarized. My theory is that the thugs used the sound of sporadic fireworks in the vicinity as a cover. I'll remember this next year!
  10. This week the Brazoria Co. Sheriff's Dept. has opened up a new substation in the Silverlake subdivision's clubhouse. This should help security in Silverlake, Southwych, and Silver Creek. Read the full story here: http://www.thefacts.com/story.lasso?ewcd=af48e1f965b31fa6 The Silverlake HOA took action to initiate this after the home invasions they suffered back in January. I applaude them for their effort. Regards, Tim
  11. I'm a little confused by your price range. Low 100s isn't going to find you much, but if you are going into the low 200s then you have quite a bit more flexibility. One example: I bought a new Ashton Woods home last year in the low 200s, and I'm very happy with it.
  12. First, just for clarity, City Park is not in Pearland. It lies north of the Pearland city limit. I'd advise you to read this thread for an in-depth discussion of City Park. In addition to what you will read there, I checked last week and there are 4 registered sex offenders living there - 2 in City park itself and 2 in the adjacent apartment complex. Bottom line: I'd recommend steering clear of it. If you want to buy a home I'd suggest going a few miles further south, into Pearland, on its west side along the 288 corridor. There are many nice homes in Shadowcreek Ranch, Southern Trails (where I live), or other subdivisions. Our schools are ok and crime is much lower.
  13. There is a one-time HOA closing fee of $350 in my subdivision.
  14. Good to know we have you looking out for the roads in Brazoria County. :)

  15. There are now about 8 lamp-post style streetlights stretching out in front of the main entrance to Southern Trails. They line Broadway from approximately the church down to the Kids-R-Kids. So at least this part of Broadway has additional lighting.
  16. Update: Broadway/518 is still not open all the way to 521 yet. I'll keep checking periodically.
  17. You'd need to change some laws first! Anyway, just drive up Pearland Parkway to the Sam Houston Tollway. There is a new specs right there at that new art-deco strip mall. It's about 100 feet north of the Pearland city limits, but for all practical purposes it is Pearland.
  18. One of the Pearland Police officers told me that folks in the Lakes of Highland Glen are organizing a Neighborhood Watch program. If any of you involved with this effort read this, feel free to contact me. We just got our NW program off the ground in Southern Trails a few months ago, and I'd be happy to pass on advice.
  19. We are working with our HOA to get distinctive car decals for ST residents, similar to what our Big Neighbor SCR has done. We hope the decals can be deployed to our residents before this summer ends.
  20. Wendy and I went to the grand opening of Mooyah's last weekend. It will be our one and only visit there. The fries were good but the burgers were a tasteless, greasy mess. Considering the prices they are charging, I predict this place will go out of business within a year. Mooyah is too expensive to compete with the other fast-food burger/sandwhich places nearby, and if I'm going to pay more for a burger then I'm going to Red Robin instead, which is just across the street. At least at Red Robin I know I will get a tasty burger for my $$. Just our opinion, others may like Mooyah.
  21. The official news story of the sale of Newmark to local Houston investors came out Monday. Here is a link to it: http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/stories/2009/06/15/daily8.html Bottom line: it's good news, Newmark is not dead in Houston (although it may be in other Texas cities). The Newmark name will be carried on here. Great news for the Enclave and Southern Trails in general!
  22. I noticed the pdf brochure (above) has an updated date of April 3rd, 2009 on it. It shows the land just south of the site with the annotation of "Alvin ISD High School", and that wasn't announced until mid-March 2009. So if they are still updating this brochure then it seems logical that the project is still moving forward, albeit slowly. If anybody can find out more on this, let me know. I'd love to know when they will break ground. The news release portion of the Lowe's website has never made mentioned this potential new store.
