  1. Where do you live? The value of my home, and those in my neighborhood have gone up for the past 4 years, slightly slower pace this year (2009) but certainly 2007 to 2008 was a steep climb... I have to say its the same for 3 other people I know, inclines in prices (real sales prices) in their neighborhoods. As for the original poster... This is very discouraging news, I have appealed mine in the past (not drastic changes) without issue. I did not appeal this year, although I should have.... Your post gives me some concern coming into next year, when I fully expect to have to appeal to bring mine back inline with my fellow neighbors.
  2. Thanks, good to know. Sometimes a bad choice in one spot drags down other homes they build. I'll keep that in mind. Anyone else?
  3. Hello HAIF'ers, Wondering if anyone knows of, and has had experience with "Northgate Custom Homes"? They seem to be building in about 10 locations in Houston... I have never heard of them though... Any thoughts, feedback, info, would be appreciated.
  4. Dealing with In-Town during the build process was not a fun experience. However I must say once its all said and done, the quality is quite good. I have heard from other that their builders were easier to work with, but they also complained about corners being cut. With the exception of some shady plumbing work by the plumber they contracted, the quality has been good so far (~3.5yrs). I know people who own in 2 different In-Town communities, this seems to hold true for them too.
  5. Frank Liu owns the corner lot on Fannin and W.Belfort. In-town homes was going to build a "fannin station" development there. The traget date had been set for Summer 07 I think. They took down their signs and quikcly pulled the info from their site. I attributed this to them waiting on the Astro-World development plans... perhaps they are trying to be involved in a bigger plan for that area.
  6. I just got back from the Netherlands. While I was there I went to an indoor ski place. It was fantastic, one of the best things I have ever done. At 25 euro's I would have gone more had I found out about it earlier in my trip. I can imagine a place like this would be profitable... not sure how realistic all the other parts of the project are. But in indoor snow hill would be awesome.
  7. Honestly as a resident of this area, sounds like that should not be touched with a 10ft pole. I would certainly hire an inspector before putting in a bid. If there was one thing I found while looking at older houses its that an inspector can tell you how much $$$ you will fork out after you buy.
  8. Ignoring all the kiddy bickering, thanks for the update. I'll keep my eyes peeled for news updates in mid-late July. Houston getting in on one of the fastest growing sports in the country only makes sense. Also they are always throwing out that line about getting the Olympics, this cant hurt. --Cheers
  9. Any word on the status of this? Was there also a deadline that this deal had to be worked by? and if so has that been extended in order to work out the no-compete clause? I'm really hopeing that they get the chance to build this. As others have said, this would be a big boost for the east end, and downtown in general really.
  10. I was at the FC Dallas game, it was a good win. Does anyone know anymore about the stadium? I have not heard/read anything since that late May time that they had some deadline for. Cheers Edit: Found my answer.
