What's on your iPhone?
KimberlySayWhat replied to editor's topic in Computers, Technology and the Internet
I like the Free Brooks app alright. The inital app is a couple of dollars and then you have access to over a thousand titles unlimited for free. Most are pre-1930. A lot of classic stuff. The one thing I don't like about it is that it doesn't provide book summaries. While browsing the books, you only get the author and title, so you have to go online for further info on the book which is really inconvenient. I like the mystery genre and I downloaded a book, was well into it and then realized it was going to be about some stolen jewels which doesn't intrigue me at all, so I didn't care to finish it. I don't like the lack of summaries at all. -
What's on your iPhone?
KimberlySayWhat replied to editor's topic in Computers, Technology and the Internet
I don't have an iPhone, but this is my what's on my Touch: I mainly got it for the calculator, though. -
Thanks for the tips. I watered some of the more vulnerable trees/shrubs last night. I hope it was enough. If I had a weather machine it would be a lovely 65-85 degrees in Houston year round.

I have a pygmy date palm that got burned in the Dec. freeze, but I think they have a hardiness of 20 degrees so it should be fine. I also planted a queen palm over the summer and it still looks ok. I think they also have a hardiness of about 20. They're both planted next to a fence, if that matters. Now my papaya, that should do dandy. I'm ready for this artic front. I'm ready for it to come, do its thing and hopefully get out. I just want it to be over with. I'd so love to see next week's forecast and it be nothing but days above 65 and sunny. I'd go outside and roll around on the ground, cat poop and all. It's funny because merely months anything below 70 I considered freezing. Now 60 looks downright toasty.

Not this change of scenery. I don't enjoy looking outside and seeing the deadness. I get depressed. Anywhere I go I have to stay indoors because I can't tolerate the cold. In order to be comfortable I almost have to be hot. I like the heat. Where's the relief? I can't take this much longer.

This winter stinks so bad. What happened to our mild winters? I was over this winter before it started.

HAIF app for iphone?
KimberlySayWhat replied to brijonmang's topic in Computers, Technology and the Internet
I do that too, but this site is so hard to navigate that way that I don't even bother. I still like the old forum better. -
Thanks for all the information. Sounds great! I still can't help to be skeptical, but the details are appreciated. That sounds scary. I was always afraid of the "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" ride at Disney World.

I second that. People always talk about how the heat drains them. It's the cold that does it to me. This cold zaps my energy completely. I'll agree the snow was pretty, but after couple of hours the novelty had completely worn off. I could never imagine living in this for months on end.

I hate to be a downer, but I'm sick of winter already and it's technically not even winter yet. This weather makes me depressed.

I was shocked to see that they actually allowed a southern city at number one. -

No, that's just how I feel. Hopefully I'm wrong. I'm not sure which thread you're referring to. -
What's up with the Entertainment Industry in Texas?
KimberlySayWhat replied to citykid09's topic in Houston and the Media
I don't want the entertainment industry in Texas unless it's in Houston specifically and only. :evil laugh: -

I hate to be pessimistic but I have no faith at all that this is going anywhere. It might come close, but in the end it's not going to happen. I'm not even hopefull. -
Me too. More so #6. A lot of things are proposed and nothing comes of it. I understand some of it is because of the times, but I'm getting to where I don't care anymore. I'm losing interest.

Outside magazine hates on Houston
KimberlySayWhat replied to crunchtastic's topic in Houston and the Media
I've never heard of that magazine. Same old complaints every single time. It's so laughable. So what about the heat! Boo hoo! Screw four season climates. I don't want that. -
Houston's own Charming Charlie

There's one in Katy. -
If anyone remembers Cynthia Hunt from channel 2 news and later from the Chris Baker radio show, she's a contestant tonight on some reality show on SoapNet called "Holidate" in which two women switch cities and dating scenes with each other. I'd never heard of it until yesterday and it looks like garbage, but here's the promo if you're interested: http://sn.soapnet.go.com/video/week-holidate Behind the scenes video of the Houston episode: http://www.39online.com/news/local/kiah-holidate-story,0,1854719.story

Houston Zoo
KimberlySayWhat replied to BayouCityGirl's topic in Museum District/Hermann Park/Rice University area
I've been wondering when this was going to get off the ground since I first heard about it last year. I haven't been to the zoo since spring '08. I love it there and that whole area, I just don't get around to going much. Sounds great! Can't wait for it to open! -
I used to eat Grape Nuts dry because I hate milk and you do have to be careful, but they're good dry. Except I haven't eaten them in years. Once I got sick and threw up Grape Nuts. The sight of it turned me off to them. The Grape Nuts didn't make me sick, they just happened to be what came up.

I love making sweet potato chips in the oven. Slice them really thin, spread onto a baking sheet sprayed with cooking spray, drizzle with a little olive oil, sprinkle on a little sea salt and ground pepper. Bake until crispy. They're so good.

I'm still skeptical about the thing as I am with anything lately. I'm not excited about it, just a tad hopefull. When/if they break ground and when I see some progress and they don't decide to scale it down, then I'll be excited. The renderings look almost too good to be true. The only thing I don't really care for is the snowy portion. I hate snow whether it's real or artificial. Especially outdoor fake snow. There's a water park at Disney with fake outdoor snow as part of the landscape/theme. I've never been, but I don't like it just from what I've seen.
