We just need the ping pong balls to go our way on May 16th so Victor Wembenyama can be the first out of that new pipeline. š- 46 replies

I interpret that remark to mean it could also be in the later stages of designing and planning. If it were under construction, thereād be permits. -

I wouldnāt mind seeing Dr. Mann at least retain the tract with the old clinic to build the hotel component (always intended to be similar in scale to the MOB) based on how this turned out. The 58-story version of the Habitable Sculpture was always a longshot, but I think a hotel could be supported across the street from the MOB. Itās just down the street from the museums.- 630 replies

They currently own the housing project at Main and 69 (4610 Main St). A portion of it is within the expanded ROW for the trenching of 69. I could see this being part of the replacement housing for that.

I disagree that they all āsuck.ā The Juice Box is great. Lots of natural light, good skyline view to the west, comfortable concourse, pretty attractive exterior style drawing from Old Union Station. The Toyota Center is just mediocre. Itās an okay place to catch a game. Itās exterior design has all the charm of a suburban Best Buy. NRGā¦ā¦ā¦okay, you got me there.

Almost certainly, no. Asking price is an eye-watering $300+ psf, apparently. So, probably no buyer for quite some time either.- 630 replies

A revival of something like that Marquette 24-story tower that was proposed to the north of the Juice Box would be nice as the Astros move forward with their plans.

Midtown Crossing: Retail Center At 510 Gray St.
houstontexasjack replied to hindesky's topic in Midtown
You disrupt the existing business for the tenants with demolition. Much better to have this demolished and redone after other lots have been built up. -
Midtown Crossing: Retail Center At 510 Gray St.
houstontexasjack replied to hindesky's topic in Midtown
Heavens, no. Certainly not at this point in time. There are so many vacant lots or soon-to-be-vacant (looking at you, Greyhound Station) that are nearby. Frankly, a similar version of this would be a massive improvement on a litany of other vacant or underdeveloped sites in Midtown. BW3 and Gyu-Kaku have been decent anchors. Youāve got to have some enjoyable existing uses to attract organic density. After Caydonās experience, I doubt weāll get any āknights in shining armorā seeking wholesale transformation of Midtown. -

The ultra-bright parking lot lights donāt really enhance security. An intruder could easily get lost in the glare (try seeing someone when staring at headlights). I miss the orange-glow of old-school sodium vapor lights and wouldnāt mind a return to that spectrum, which is friendlier toward night visions. Otherwise, as HAIF well knows, I love those LIGHT-UP FEATURES!!!! (the all-caps said in the voice of the astronaut screaming āSPACESHIP!!ā in the āLego Movieā)- 630 replies

I donāt have a great shot of the lights (theyāve been installed over the last couple weeks) but got these. You can see the green and blue glow reflecting off the Southmore. Edit: third photo with the green light. Iāve yet to get a good shot with all lights installed. Also, you can see Venus and Jupiter above the Southmore in the first shot.- 630 replies
