Fort Worth Trinity River Vision

Recommended Posts

I thought I would start a thread with all of the Trinity-related development taking place in Fort Worth.

Trinity River Vision

The Central City Project is one segment of the Trinity River Vision master plan. It includes about four miles of the river from near 7th Street and Trinity Park on the south to Samuels Avenue and 23rd Street on the north. This is a portion of the river where the floodway levee system has created a visual and physical barrier to the river and inhibited development in Fort Worth's central city. This project will provide needed flood protection for the area and allow the public access to 12 miles of waterfront. The area will provide the link from downtown north to the Stockyards and west to the Cultural District.

Trinity Bluff:

A 30 acre mixed-use development along the bluff overlooking the east bank of the Trinity River.

Here's a news story about the projects going up as well as the history of the area.

TCC makes plans for dramatic downtown campus

Take a look at the final design of the new Tarrant County College campus, and you see more than another Fort Worth landmark.

The collection of angled, rectangular buildings seems to point and pull to the Trinity River, magnetically drawn to the water and a spectacular, two-tiered walking bridge that links the city's central business district with the near north side...

The design has been at least three years in the making, and construction begins on the buildings this month...

From Bing Thom Architects website:

"Building on the Uptown Trinity Vision, the first phase of the campus will link downtown Fort Worth with the Trinity River with a unique building element known as the "periscope" that cuts through the river bluff. The building also bridges across the river to a large tract of property that the college has acquired."
