But does the punishment fit the crime?

It wasn't punishment, it was a means to an end.

And when your tasered, your 'out' for a few good minutes. Should they have repeatedly tasered him?
I don't think so. The first time, yes. But they should have learned in taser training (assuming they had any) what the affects would be.
Also, did anyone expect such heavy handed measures at such a liberal instituion?

The political leanings of any large organization are rarely uniform throughout its entire membership. The official statements that come out of the top, especially in the fantasy land that is academia, are often impossible to implement when it gets down to the ground.
