elecpharm Posted August 29, 2006 Share Posted August 29, 2006 my vacation this year was spent on the island of java. i stayed about 35 miles south of jakarta, the capital city, in a great area of bogor called bukit sentul, which, when translated is, 'the hills of sentul'. it was an amazing trip. jakarta a new mall being built a common site in bogor - driveways takes precedence over the sidewalks gray street dwellings in bogor a common site on almost every major road - street vendors of all kinds some of the tallest structures in the city an entrance to the university this type of housing could be viewed for miles. a residence with one of the dominant driveways salatiga. a city about 250 miles east of jakarta. i enjoyed this city. a marketplace the only mall in salatiga. the grocery store was located on the highest floor, the 5th floor. the mall had escalators and stairs but no elevators. think this design would fly in houston? the electric company - one of the taller structures in town borobudur in central java- the largest buddhist monument in the world. - it was a truly magnificient site. bellanove country mall. this is a large shopping center containing a hypermart, food court and many, many other stores. i spent quite a bit of time here drinking bad coffee and conversing with the locals. the entrance to bukit sentul this is where i stayed while in indonesia looking out the front door Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Thanks for sharing them.I would love to visit Indonesia.There's a quality about it that is sort of similar to the Philippines.There's a bit of cleanliness there in comparison, judging by the pics, and it seems a bit traditional and grand compared to the more "Westernized" Philippines.
